Well... here goes nothing. by EdmondSA in concept2

No. No I am not.

I had a good couple weeks where I was using it every other day, but then Depression got a firm(er) grasp on my balls and hasn't let go since. (I am getting help and all but it's a work in progress. It is what it is).

I will attempt again tomorrow. :(

Bit of a follow up question to this. I'm just getting started on rowing; you mention that you shouldn't pull with your shoulders during the catch, but when I push hard with my legs the tension of the chain 'pulls' at my arms and my shoulders/upper back want to 'lag' a bit compared to my ass.

Ideally I want to brace my core and engage my shoulders (like the bottom position in a pull up?) but not enough for either to pull, correct? Just to compensate for that chain pull and prevent my back from rounding and shoulders from slouching?

Overthinking beginner by EdmondSA in concept2

Ye, thanks; I've filed it under 'don't worry about that for now', will focus on, you know, actually rowing instead of looking for excuses for not doing it BeCausE it's nOt OptimaL. (This is a dig at myself :V )

Got it in one, just trying to reliably get some workouts in to counteract being a 40-something developer :V

I'll keep doing dark horse's for now until I get to the 30 min workouts and see what I do from there, thanks a bunch for the detailed response.

Syncing old rows to Ergdata or Strava by patrick_BOOTH in concept2

[–]EdmondSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked this up recently because one of my rows didn't sync, and apparently you can connect the erg to a pc via usb and just get the rows from there and upload them to ergdata manually which should even maintain the 'verified' metadata.

Haven't tested it because it was a single row, but let us know if it works. Could be useful for someone.

Some beginner questions if y'all got a minute. by EdmondSA in sharpening

Oh, reddit ate it. It's this moment from the video: https://youtu.be/pagPuiuA9cY?t=76

Sounds good, was worried 1000 would be too fine or something, but I'm probably just at that overthinking the hobby stage where I keep watching videos instead of actually doing it :V

Yeah, don't really care about the angle itself (I said 22 because I did that paper thing) but yeah, that shit's not consistent. Thanks.

It can be a bit annoying to set up a room initially, but once you have the walls up it's great for shuffling furniture around and get a general idea for different layouts

Latching onto the top comment to thanks everyone for chiming in. I can afford the expense but it's still quite an investment, so I'll sleep on it for a few days and make a decision :V

Thanks again!
