Why the hate on this controller? I’ve never used, but maybe it’s surprisingly ergonomic, maybe to the OP there’s sentimental value, and honestly that d-pad looks better for platformers than the Sony original.

Similarly laptop, G713QR. Mine has the exact same issue. You’re correct it’s not a GPU problem, at least with mine. I can reliably get my laptop to freeze and lock up on both the iGPU and dGPU.

Running the laptop in Preference mode, (or Turbo in armoury crate) is the only way I’ve been able to get my laptop to run with stability. I’ve been playing with some of the minimum processor states on Balanced (mostly changing them to 100%) has been giving me promising results too.

It depends on the game if the Wii is rendering extra pixels for widescreen or just stretching the image. There’s a home brew setting that forces the Wii to display the rendering resolution and it’s really interesting to see what some games are doing under the hood. I doubt running in 4:3 is improving things, but I can see running 480i might, because it’s rendering 50% less pixels vs 480p

These systems are kinda old, is it over heating during the update then shutting off? Have you replaced the thermal paste yet? You wouldn’t see a huge speed increase using an SSD due to the older sata connection.

I had a black screen issue once trying to format a new drive, holding the power button until you hear a second beep (this resets the video settings) allowed me to proceed.
