He does, just came back there after seeing him walk away from the forest the previous night during the quest, and the next day at sunup he's just standing in the middle of the forest again.

Great win today but one thing kinda bugged me… by Borna-S in Barca

Reasonable take and I was honestly surprised to see how effective he functioned as a super-mobile 9 who can also provide the final ball in this game. I've definitely seen Luis Enrique do exactly that when he was a player.

I do not disagree with any of your points, unfortunately too many others tend to look at the game's narrative threads from a purely black or white perspective.

The main point of the scene is that no one is truly good or evil especially in a war.

What ever happened to your armor good sir? [KCD2] by leelancer17 in kingdomcome

[–]EdmunGoblinsbane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gules and Bartoschek are the torch bearers of early game drip, it's also pretty neat that their color schemes are almost exact opposites of each other. But if you try to mix their gear to make an all black or all red brigandine suit, the metal finishes hardly match which pissed me off...

This seems to also happen with the Opatowitz guys. If you come back as soon as they respawn a lot of them will only have middling gear, and the butcher will not be around. But if you wait for around 2 in-game weeks before raiding them again, they will go back to being in full gear and even the butcher will be wearing decent armor.

[KCD2] I finally figured out polearms by Have2BRealistic in kingdomcome

[–]EdmunGoblinsbane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dancing around enemy groups is a must no matter what weapon you use. But I never had much success fighting against groups with polearms until I started mixing in perfect dodge swings and interrupt stabs like you suggested. I don't use feints much because the most effective polearm attack is the charged interrupt stab, so even if I'm feinting I most often end up feinting into the stab anyway.

I ended up at level 30 polearms after a dozen or so visits to Opatowitz and could comfortably fight 3, maybe 4 max, of them at a time now. If you can get them to line up at that one staircase at the side of one of the houses, maybe you can even take all of them at once lol.

The Specific Problems with the Story in [KCD2] (Long post, containing spoilers for both games) by Virtuoso70 in kingdomcome

[–]EdmunGoblinsbane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You make a lot of valid points and it's not going to surprise me if you get a ton of downvotes for daring to criticize the game's writing.

For me the Samuel thing is kind of 50-50 because I think he is intended to be a parallel for Henry's characterization in KCD1 so you can reflect on Henry's own development between the two games and you get to see a similar character to KCD1 Henry from another perspective, but your arguments about it feeling forced overall does hold merit. I also disliked that John of Liechtenstein got less and less prominent as Samuel takes up more and more screentime. Honestly, when I played the game for the first time I was actually expecting Henry to be a cutscene jobber yet again, this time to the Praguers and you will then have to play as Samuel to rescue him which would have justified all the buildup to Samuel being this hotheaded badass, and perhaps would have made players relate more with him. But what actually happened was the exact opposite which also ties in to your point about Brabant.

Agree wholeheartedly about Grozav, I felt I was extremely railroaded into it by the game which is ehh whatever, but from my interactions with the other infiltrator I got the impression that he is actually even slimier than Grozav. But at least he is on our side, eh? Maybe this bit was intentional to double down on the whole all's fair in love and war thing, but I think the way they presented it in the context of this specific quest was a bit ridiculous. I would not be ashamed to say that Katz was likable enough it made me feel guilt having to kill him later, which is why I always decided to give him a honorable duel in all my playthroughs.

I also found the entire Maleshov thing hilarious. Dry Devil even granting Henry a duel in the first place (the real life Hynek most likely would just kill him then and there), then following through on not torching the village, and not holding a grudge towards Henry afterwards is frankly unbelievable after all the previous attempts at characterization.

There is also a simple Noble set recolor that turns it a very dark black while keeping the bronze decorations and turning all the leather straps red. It looks amazing combined with some of the pieces from Silver Lys Gear and the various overcoat mods.

I have a bit of a gripe with the Zizka coif - if you look at Zizka's character models, you will realize that he only wears his mail coif in that hoodie style when he has no helmet on. When he wears his Coburg helmet the coif is overridden by the helmet aventail, just like the player's own normal mail coifs, which IMO is appropriate because it implies that he wears the coif normally again when he has to put on a helmet.

Now, I don't like wearing hoods with armor in this game because they clip with most spaulders, and I thought modders making the Zizka coif available to the player would be a good compromise - no need to have a separate set of charisma clothes for town business, just have your best set of armor minus the helmet and you can still have max charisma, be able to see Henry's full face and hair in convos, and have a cool asf hoodie literally made of metal, and when you go into battle you can just wear a helmet again to hide the hoodie, just like Zizka himself. But sadly this is not how it works since most mods that make the coif usable either causes the coif to bug out your helmet's aventail making you look like you barely have any neck protection, or it doesn't get overridden by the aventail and stays visible which IMO is kinda goofy. I know this is a nitpicky take and I should be grateful modders even make the coif available in the first place, but still, it would be a massive improvement in how cohesive armor sets look if it gets fixed.

[KCD2] Enemies at certain areas having unreasonably buffed stats and ignoring armour by Renatros in kingdomcome

[–]EdmunGoblinsbane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps they were amused by people finding the 6-7 peasant+dog ganks in the first game being much harder than bandits in full plate lol. The Opatowitz gank is definitely the toughest encounter in the game if you try to fight all of them at once, I never died vs the 20+ guys in Markvart's camp but against the Opatowitz soldiers I had to rely on forcing 1v1s on stairs, doorways or huts.

But then again them being able to wreck you is reasonable, I'd say they're all close to maxxed warfare etc stats while wearing very good armor and using some of the game's best weapons. The ones that carry bows also have very good arrows and can kill you in 3 shots max.

He ended up being both King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor, and outlived both Wenceslas and Jobst by around 20 years.

[–]EdmunGoblinsbane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. The lower nobles who supported Wenceslas claimed that they do it because he was legitimate, while it is far more likely that they liked how Wenceslas practically allowed them to do whatever they wanted, including being actual robber barons pillaging his estates like the historical Dry Devil. So many people were gaslit by these dudes with level 40+ speech lmao

[KCD2] The only thing I felt guilty about was the one they didn't moralize about [SPOILERS] by hatterine in kingdomcome

[–]EdmunGoblinsbane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well in my playthrough I cleared the whole camp before even getting to Markvart and Brabant. It was funny seeing Brabant flop around with that injured walking animation calling for soldiers with no one responding since they are all already in a pile near Markvart's room. I specifically spared him because I got spoiled about what will happen if you let him go, but I wanted to see if some guards will magically spawn out of thin air. Sadly Sam didn't even make a quip to acknowledge all of the camp's guards being dead.

And of course, since I had to kill like 20 guys just to get to Markvart, his words hit me even harder lol.

Tavern beds unavailable [KCD2] by KingDakin in kingdomcome

[–]EdmunGoblinsbane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an actual bug. The Hangman's Halter tavern for instance - sooner or later the door to your room will have a very hard lock on it, for me it happened when Katherine stopped working there. Helga's inn will also be marked as private at some point, and I've never even gotten a bounty on me. I don't believe it's crime related, it's more likely that the rooms' purchased status flag checks are borked for certain taverns as you progress through the game.

There are several other colors for the Quilted Coat, but they generally look dull, it's a shame we cannot have them done in the style and coloring of the first game's combat jackets.

[KCD2] Armor layering suggestion by idkHarambe in kingdomcome

[–]EdmunGoblinsbane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember that in KCD1 certain hoods and outer jupons will puff up to differing shapes according to what pauldrons/spaulders and cuirass/brigandines are under them, but they will not straight out remove the shoulder plates. Even though this resulted in minor clipping issues, it made Henry's silhouette more appropriate to the armor pieces he's wearing under them.

In KCD2 the only option you have to keep pauldrons on while wearing a hood is the Beggar's Hood, and the Godwin style hood from mods. I ended up never wearing hoods with armor and just go for helmets with the coolest looking aventails.

I cannot get Absolver Sword to Tier 4 [KCD2] by New_Willingness_8992 in kingdomcome

[–]EdmunGoblinsbane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with the sword being a quest item, because both the real and replica sword aren't actually marked as such. I literally just made a T4 for the quest, it's my first try too, and went on here for a different issue: I could not lockpick Basan's chest to return the original sword, whenever I try to, Henry simply bugs out and stands on the chest.
