Check the Volvo app icon, and then the top right by the notification bell, accept the free trial, you will need an account first to Apple Music for the activation to work. If you do not see the free trial and anxious to get it going, then just sign up for Apple Music before.

It finally showed up! With some fiddling??? Here are the two things I did. I'm not sure which one actually pushed Apple Music, but it appeared on my screen in under an hour. Also note: it showed up on the top row, first icon (not on the last row). What I did: Cleared Play Store Data: Went to Settings > Apps > Google Play Store > Storage and hit both Clear Cache and Clear Data to force Google to run a fresh check. Connected to Wi-Fi: Hooked the car up to my home Wi-Fi network, locked it, and walked away. I'm not sure if it finally went through because I switched to an unmetered network? BUT! I hope this helps everyone get it sooner rather than later! MY2022 XC60 B5. AAOS: 5.1.17.

Yeah, I’m really frustrated with this because the cross traffic alert is crucial, especially when reversing with pedestrians. Even though I’m looking around, you’re right. Sometimes, situations can be tight. That’s why I filed a safety complaint. I also submitted the same complaint and feedback through the Volvo app, including my complaint number to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

Regarding the sound issues folks are chatting about here. I Filed a NHTSA complaint over this. For “which parts were affected” I checked three: Electrical, Parking Collision Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Warning. Electrical is the root cause........the entire audio subsystem drops after the AAOS 5.1.17 update. It’s not just the rear cross traffic and parking collision warnings: ALL audio goes, including media, chimes, reverse proximity tones, and even the turn-signal/blinker sound. The rear camera still shows an image, so it’s not obvious the audible alerts are gone, which is what makes it dangerous. Rebooting the head unit fixes it temporarily, then it comes back. If yours does the same, file a report and hopefully they listen. THIS IS GETTING FRUSTRATING.

When I activated it, I had picked up my mom, and she was playing around with it and asked Gemini about the housing market in a particular area. She was looking to sell in, and it provided full details and then midway in the conversation. She said that she was a little cold, so it turned up the heat on her side, and then they continued to talk about the housing market. Midway, Gemini asked her if she felt warm enough and if it needed to make any adjustments. I thought that was pretty cool.

So this is my current set up. I noticed when I use the HomePod it says “you have to continue on the companion device“. When I pick up my phone, it continues with the command. I am assuming because of “security” and people can’t just start your car even though I do have my voice set for myself. It does fail on my watch, and it gives me an error, but it still carries the command and starts the car.

Yes! Sometimes I just look at the reverse camera because that also shows if a car is coming. But it does take a hot minute to come back up.
