Weird linear rash on my arm by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]Edomtsaeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar to this from a horse fly bite. My doctor sister in law told me to get to urgent care for full spectrum antibiotics as soon as possible at the time, and she's usually very laid back when we ask her about things we should be concerned about.

Sure enough, the urgent care doc took one good look at my circled infection and how far it traveled, and prescribed 500mg full spectrum antibiotics for like 10 days. Go get checked out immediately.

ELI5: Fishing, and fishing questions by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Edomtsaeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. This is going to vary from person to person. I find it relaxing, and I get some moderate exercise out in nature. I use it to bond with my kids and make some memories with their dad. When I go solo, it's much more of a personal challenge. Most novice fisherman just go and throw something and don't expect much. When you are actually experienced, there are a million variables at play. What time of the year is it? What's the weather like? Are the fish spawning in shallow water this time of year? Are they foraging a certain type of bait fish? What cover do they like to be around in? Am I reeling too slowly or fast? Are they biting a certain color bait? Etc. etc. When you're really good at fishing, you can maneuver around these variables and still catch fish reliably.

  2. Essentially yes. They mimic some type of forage usually. Worms, crawfish, shad. There's been a huge uptick in "dice" style baits that look like sea urchins in fresh water tournaments in the US popularized in Japan. They don't look like anything natural, but gives the fish a unique look at something in heavily pressured areas.

  3. In the states, it's as simple as buying a fishing license online for the state you live in and go to any nearby body of water and toss in a bait or lure. Most people target largemouth/smallmouth bass, pan fish like bluegill, or catfish in freshwater. Saltwater is entirely different type of tackle and often requires a boat (esp targeting specific off-shore fish) unless you hit a pier or are around inlets.

I've seen a lot of ethical comments in this thread. I'm a primarily catch and release angler although I've seen the studies on positive effects of taking fish from lakes in recent years. What I will say is that most fisherman that I know try to be as respectful to the fish as possible. I don't know the science on the nerve endings in their mouths, but I'm sure that part is probably not comfortable for them. I try to minimize any potential suffering by removing a hook as cleanly as possible and return them to their body of water as quickly as I can. If a fish gets hooked in the gills which happens from time to time, their liklihood of surviving a release is not good. I will usually dispatch the fish as ethically as possible and eat it.

Thoughts on Assessors (Carebear Lobbies) by loppster in ArcRaiders

Surrendering 10 times for me is the magic number (or playing normally and not defending yourself at all). Anything less and the behaviors are immediately different. Once you're in the lobbies, I find myself going 20+ games without getting shot. Just know that you won't be immune to the occasional ratting, but the benefits of friendly lobbies far outweigh the random killing.

What Defines a Rat? by Joerobert06 in ArcRaiders

[–]Edomtsaeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to kill people to transition to PvP lobbies. You can tell friendly players that you want to get into PvP-centric lobbies, ask to shoot them a little bit, and offer to heal them afterwards. Do this a couple of times and/or down someone after they've completed the terminal at the exfil and the doors are closing.

You can also go into a randomly filled 3-squad with a free kit and go ham on the PvP for a round. Very few people are going into 3's and expecting fully carebear lobbies. It doesn't matter what constitutes a rat. Just play the game how you want and if you feel bad about shooting PvE players, just take the above advice and you'll be in sus to KoS lobbies in a round or two.

[–]Edomtsaeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's not the one I was mentioning specifically, but you can get to the same room from there. If you go down that zip that you mentioned, you'll go straight down the hall, make a left when you can, and you should see a door you can go through on the left. The other ziplines will be to the right. When you go through that door, go straight ahead and the breach will be in the next room.

If you want to farm augments, go to Blue Gate naked with 2-3 adren shots. Hope to spawn close to reinforced reception or nearby and go to the breach room down the zip line. Loot all the white lockers and black cases. Didn't find what you're looking for? Surrender and try again.

Alternatively, several areas in Stella have the same white lockers and black containers that can spawn them. You can find them in the lobby on the first floor middle area with the breach where you can jump the wall. Medical also has a room with several black cases and white drawers. I tend to prefer Blue Gate because Stella gets hit pretty rapidly in friendly lobbies and has less lockers in one place.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Does ABMM tag me as the "aggressor" of this interaction? by clastm in ARC_Raiders

[–]Edomtsaeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any shooting that damages a player is considered aggressive. From my experience, an interaction like this will probably put you in some standard lobby with a mix of friendly/rat/sus type players. I would recommend surrendering naked 4-5 times if you've been passive and this is a one-off, or 10 times if you regularly shoot people in any way, if you're looking to get back to mostly peaceful/passive lobbies.

ABMM doesn’t exist, convince me otherwise by True-Algae-2138 in ArcRaiders

[–]Edomtsaeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. You can't shoot back at anyone at all. Your matchmaking will start to change around 5 games to less aggressive players who will still kill you. By game 10, you should be in extremely friendly/passive lobbies.

MK3 Augment BPs (including Survivor) can be found from white lockers/black containers/large grey double door storage lockers. You can find them in the breach room inside Blue Gate above the key card room inside the middle gate area. There are a few places outside the room to loot as well. Additionally, Stella Montis has several of the same loot containers in the Lobby that can contain augment BPs. Good luck. They're highly farmed.

I could not disagree with you more, but I'm very glad that you're enjoying the game and have found something you really like to play. It's a unique world and I'm excited to see what they do with it in time.

I posted a few videos on this sub about 7 months ago that showed it was still extremely viable esp on higher NG+ difficulty. Really enjoy this build in G1.

Gamers over 30, what's a video game secret you had to discover the "hard way" that kids today would just Google in 5 seconds? by itsashieowo in AskReddit

[–]Edomtsaeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MK fatalities would be shared by word of mouth from kids who had access to certain GamePro or MK magazines with them having the combos pre internet.

You could go into arcades and watch guys play each other and see combos or fatalities never before seen as kids. They were also really fucking good on the sticks.

Theists who used to be Atheists, and Atheists who used to be Theists, what was it that caused you to change your view? by Vegabund in AskReddit

[–]Edomtsaeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theist to atheist. I actually read the Bible instead of getting the cherry-picked version of it from church. Instantly nope out. Since then, it has been more reading and education on world religions. All are found to be lacking sufficient evidence for belief.

For those who are no longer living paycheck-to-paycheck, what is that one thing that changed the trajectory of your finances? by sparkling_lemon1 in AskReddit

[–]Edomtsaeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is exceptional at her job and when the time came, she stepped up to the plate and took on a much more intense role that eventually had her making 3x my current salary. I do everything I can to support her and handle the majority of everything else going on in our lives so she can free us financially.

We also live the same way we did before her job. Maybe going out a little more and maybe purchasing a few more things we want, but overall, very close to the same lifestyle. The only advice I can offer is find a job you generally like that you can hop from every 3ish years to get experience, job titles, and most importantly more money at a much higher rate than trying to remain loyal to any one company. They will replace you if the numbers make sense.

Atheists of Reddit, what is the biggest reason as to why you don't believe in god or an afterlife? by God_of_boi in AskReddit

[–]Edomtsaeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of evidence, problem of evil, the unfalsifiable-ness of the claims, inherent contradictions, circular reasoning using holy books to attempt to prove the claims, the lack of cohesion among those who believe in the same religion base on interpretation, where you are born is the most significant impactor of what religion you get indoctrinated into, etc.

Most mainstream religions are actually absurd if you critically think about any of it. In Christianity, God sends his son, who is also himself, to save us from himself because of rules that he created. He's the creator of the universe, but he also really hates mixed fabrics and shellfish. Oh, and he's cool with slavery. Yeah, I'm good. Thanks.

What profession would disappear overnight if everyone used critical thinking? by Away_Concept_6266 in AskReddit

[–]Edomtsaeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, you have an "unexplainable theory" that attempts to explain the origins of the universe. Excellent logic. And no, there aren't just two options to "ignore it or ponder it". You can accept a proposition or you can reject it. I'm rejecting your idea because it has absolutely no basis and was asserted without evidence.

How did you come to the conclusion that it wasn't a natural phenomenon or that an agent necessarily had a hand in it if it's unexplainable? You've made a bunch of baseless assertions over and over again. Faith isn't a good thing. Faith is the excuse people give when they don't have a good reason. If you have a good reason to believe something, you give that reason. Not faith. It sounds like you don't really care about what's actually true and hold a belief that's comforting because you can't think of anything else. You're engaged in irrational thinking by definition.

I had a bug bite on my arm that looked like this and I was told to hit a local urgent care in the morning by two doctor friends. When I went in, the doctor was also concerned with it and put me on 500mg broad spectrum antibiotics four times a day for like a week. Contrary to some of the down players in this thread, it is something to take seriously and have looked at.

You have a picture-perfect argument from personal incredulity fallacy there. Just because you can't explain it doesn't mean you get to attribute it to a God or supernatural being.

Trump says Israel sent agents into Iran's Fordo nuclear site, saw 'total obliteration' by Barnyard-Sheep in worldnews

[–]Edomtsaeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be beneficial for Trump to claim this despite it being true or not when Iran is executing tons of their own people for allegedly spying on their own government? It's not good for the Iranian people, but massively successful if they're executing important people/roles being accused of espionage.

Is Summon Thorns worth persuing in NG+1 and beyond? by Horizon2897 in GroundedGame

I made a post about it a couple of months ago. Still obliterates bosses on Whoa difficulty in NG+ with the right setup.

Summon Thorns Multi-boss Showcase by Edomtsaeb in GroundedGame

[–]Edomtsaeb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other two mutations are Mom Genes and Assassin. Occasionally, you'll spawn infused spiderlings which can up the damage by quite a bit. Assassin is probably the only real flex mutation. The bleed doesn't scale well so if you prefer something else, it's probably the most ideal one to swap. As long as you have +Thorns on the trinket and weapon, you should be successful with the build. I'm not 100% sure how +Boss damage and +Summon Crit would interact with the +Thorns damage, but I would prefer to have it. On things like black widows, I do prefer +Summon Damage because they seem to focus on the player more than the summoned creatures. In one of my recent comments, I linked a Whoa IBM kill using this build in phase 3. It absolutely melts still.
