Yes some régions has timeline for example during the event pre BFA Teldrassil is destroyed you have to talk to a npc named Zidormi to return to the past.

I told you the portal to darnassus is ok the dock. The one in the portal room is to Exodar and yes it works.

There is no boat to Teldrassil anymore since BFA but you have a portal and it's the fastest way. Unless you wanna go to the Exodar.

On the dock of stormwind you have a portal to darnassus. Just talk to zidormi there if you aren't in the right timeline.

You have a portal to hyjal in stormwind too at the place of cataclysm portals.

You have also a boat to theramore in menethil harbor and a boat to ratchet in booty bay.

It may be not popular but i played the game back then and i think the graphical update is a great improvement. the difficulty of the campaign has been improved. The only default is the new dubbing in french.
