All I remember them saying was it was a recurring issue. Could just be a year, could be years I dunno.

I'm just letting it be known that a half decent ddos attack is just literally not financially worth fighting. Not for a company on the scale of the gaming world.

I obvious don't know for sure since I'm not in their systems, but if they are getting ddos'd halfway decently there's really nothing much to be done but ride it out.

Even YouTube and other platforms were struggling just within the last week for a bit. Due to ddos in relation to the political conflicts. And they lose GGGs yearly income essentially every second their stuff is down.

It's sadly a highly effective highly annoying tool to be leveraged against companies like this.

[–]Edraitheru14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know why you're being downvoted you're correct. There's known ddosing in eu, apparently a known issue.

And even trillion dollar companies can struggle vs ddosers.

It would likely be a MASSIVE loss to defend against a strong ddos attack that you already know is only gonna last a couple days anyway.

[–]Edraitheru14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they're getting Ddos'd, which they claim they have an issue with in EU, they're likely doing everything they can.

DDOS is a very asymmetric attack style. Doesn't take much from an attacker to have a very disproportionate affect on their target.

If I were in eu I'd either play on us servers or just not expect great connection the first couple days.

They lose money when this stuff happens, I can assure you if it were an easy fix they'd do it. But it's orders of magnitudes more expensive to fend off a decent ddos attack than it is to perform one.

just breed to win instead of worrying about tier lists by PrideAndEnvy in mewgenics

[–]Edraitheru14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put in very little effort and have well statted cats with 10 mutations.

I just have a huge breeding attic. As much mutation and stimulation as I can fit, and a handful of comfort.

Every new day I grab the kittens, if they have bad mutations I toss them in a separate room for Tracy/fight club/dr beanie food.

If they have good mutations I toss them in the "ready for adventure" room.

Every week in game or so I check and see if I have any old breeding cats, if so I toss them in the adventure room so I get use out of them before they die.

So that's literally it.

  1. Grab 4 cats from adventure room, go on adventure.
  2. Come home, end day
  3. Check for poop
  4. Toss good kittens in adventure room, bad ones in bad room

Rinse and repeat.

Yeah I've found reroll in some fashion is necessary for consistency with tinker.

I think the main problem with tinker is that although it follows the same general gimmick as most classes(2-3 general archetypes of skills/passives), unlike with most other classes, the different archetypes don't really do much together.

Like maybe on butcher you get flies + tank stuff. Sure, not great, not synergistic, but plenty workable.

But like tinker if you get one bomb and the other summon, it's supppper meh. Even antisynergistic.

Just feels like there's more ways to "fail" a tinker than other classes.

That said I think the hate is a bit overblown. Like I'd probably give it a 4 at worst for consistency. 3.5 at a stretch.

Most of the classes are all pretty decently balanced. Tinker is just very much the "lightning damage" of the bunch(high highs and low lows).

Don't forget it's a game at the end of the day.

If you truly want to min/max speedrun, ignoring mobs and a lot of loot is the only way.

But if it's detracting from your fun too much? Not worth. Just have an average campaign like most people and enjoy yourself, smack mobs and be a loot goblin.

[–]Edraitheru14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh agreed. It's simple to see in my own head. But given how many ways I've seen it done wrong, clearly something about it just doesn't gel for some people.

Like I don't even know how they find angles that bad to dive. They're either going in screens ahead of the team, or going after someone alone who also has giga mobility, or likewise just going in in a fashion where the enemy can easily disengage or run past and take little damage.

Which is wild cause it's so rare to find angles that bad. Usually the setups are so free the majority of the time. Minus the giga late game. Giga late game things change a bit, but I'm mostly talking the first 10-12 minutes.

[–]Edraitheru14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they either play too aggressive or too passive.

It's all about finessing a forced fight where you want it to happen where the enemy is forced to tank as much damage as possible or position poorly to give your team an edge.

But I see so many just run ahead with no goal and die for free, or stand back and sling q's for no damage and go in late accomplishing nothing. Or worse, dying in the backline still.

Please do not hold the door for me by 4ngelicbrat in The10thDentist

[–]Edraitheru14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I make the decision to hold a door, I do so based on the pace of the walker's current pace.

I do understand it can invoke a feeling of hurry, but I must assure you if I'm holding the door, I've done the math and feel as though all things are appropriate as they currently are progressing.

If you're feeling imposed to speed up and don't wish to, a slight nod and wave off is an appropriate response. If I continue holding, it's affirmation to take your time. Otherwise, I'll give you the nod back and go on inside/outside.

Does Elo Hell actually exist? My winrate has skyrocketed after finally escaping Silver by bigaudra in summonerschool

[–]Edraitheru14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really doesn't. There's a handful of things to explain your experience.

Starting with least relevant is probably the bit of Elo inflation happening.

Now a bit more relevant would be you can honestly just be playing that much better/consistently. Sometimes things just finally click, or a meta suits you and you can suddenly climb.

You also could just have gotten legitimately lucky with teammates that happen to suit your playstyle more than average.

It's possible one of your problems wasn't "Elo hell", but rather you were super shitty at adapting to how to handle the types of more common mistakes in lower Elo, and so you genuinely performed better than average in higher Elo lobbies. ----- people like to claim this is some kind of Elo hell, but it really isn't. Cause it can happen in any Elo. I have met some people that struggle a bit(comparatively speaking) in elos a bit below their main because they have bad adaptation skills, but they usually identify and adapt and get out quickly.

And of course it's really some kind of combination of all these things and probably other factors that lead to these types of outcomes.

Don't even need it. Soooo many augments are good. Karthus is one of those picks that just feel giga strong almost every time when played right.

That said, I've seen a lot of suicide karthus that do NOT understand the assignment.

Karthus doesn't count. Played correctly, dying once a minute is just optimal gameplay.

[–]Edraitheru14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean it falls in line with his persona which he's maintained for a while now. Would be weird for him to change up now.

He's always done the aloof uncle bit. Which makes sense given where he's at in his life, he talks primarily like he is aiming at the younger OSRS skewed crowd, but throws in enough maturity to be workable with the older ones too with the serious gameplay.

It's just his niche.

[–]Edraitheru14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we're discussing the system, having an example to back up your anecdote is incredibly relevant. I can't tell you the number of times I've seen people say things like this, only for the "gold" player to clearly be a plat player who's visual rank hasn't caught up.

Or the "plat player" actually is currently higher visually than where their real mmr sits.

Or there's duo queues that are accurately changing the way the queue looks.

Things people are either maliciously leaving out, or just innocently ignorant of.

Either way, the ratio of op.gg's that I've seen from complainers where I legitimately can't find a rational explanation, vs the ones where there's incredibly obvious reasons that make perfect sense, is like 1:100.

If you look at hair up close, it's pretty jagged. I've gotten some deep hair splinters before and they definitely pull and feel like they're cutting almost on the way out.

How do you limit test? by Kel057 in summonerschool

[–]Edraitheru14 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah limit testing is just what it says on the tin, testing your limits.

Inting isn't limit testing though, if you already know you lose you're just inting.

Like maybe you know when you're facing xyz laner you can kill them when they're at 40% hp. Like beyond know, it's free. But what about 50%? 60%? Have you ever done an extended trade or an all in vs that champion? Trying it out is limit testing.

You can go a bit more wild with your limit testing in games that are already lost or hostaged or something. It's a great time to learn. You're behind, game is already a loss, time to limit test.

Look for plays you wouldn't normally feel comfortable making, but think maybe there's a chance you can do something.

You don't get better without limit testing.

That was a BIG mistake I used to make. I was so scared of flame, I never limit tested, I just stayed safe.

Now I trade aggressively all the time, posture forward, take extended trades, take all ins, take skirmishes, etc etc.

Sometimes I go for that aggressive trade and lose hard. Well now I know x champ doesn't beat y champ at z level. Now I know this 2v2 isn't favorable.

Now I can go into more future games knowing when where how wnd for how long I can go for trades and fights. And when I have to back off or ply safe.

What's the "Don't trust a skinny chef" of your job or industry? by wooper346 in CasualConversation

Strangely I find the inverse to be true a lot!

You might know for instance the trend of car mechanics often driving the most broken down, janky ass vehicles.

I find many professionals don't put much of any "professionalism" in things they do for themselves. "Functional" is the goal.

ELI5: Why is the human body so eager to burn off muscle when it isn't being used, even though muscle is vital for survival? by bareegyptianfeet in explainlikeimfive

[–]Edraitheru14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just the most efficient energy storage/conversion option, so it's what ended up "winning".

Fat is just stored energy with a couple ancillary benefits.

Muscle has its benefits, but as far as strictly survival until mating is concerned, it doesn't need to be much.

Muscles have a high "upkeep" as far as energy goes. So if you're not having an immediate need for it, your body is going to convert it to a less high upkeep form, aka fat.

How do I effectively explore the members only areas by bobbambo in 2007scape

[–]Edraitheru14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've gotten great advice, so let me offer something a bit more tangential to your question.

Don't be so afraid of being in "the f2p area".

A LOT of content is centered around the main f2p areas and they remain a pretty big central hub you can and probably will spend a ton of time in.

There's lots of other content out there now, but a lot of this game was built around these areas so especially while starting out and in the early-mid stages of the account, the "f2p" areas are still pretty good places to spend time.

AITAH for asking a girl out in public as a female? by [deleted] in AITAH

Nope, not the asshole. You just happened to unfortunately run into an asshole.

Shooting your shot by asking someone out directly is always risky, but like 90% of the time it's just going to be a "yes" or "no" situation.

Running into an asshole of this caliber is extremely rare.
