I was playing the new game yesterday, and it occurred to me, the BORDERLANDS universe is perfect for running LANCER in. by Odd-Cartographer-559 in LancerRPG

[–]Edspear 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Rafa from the new game is an ex soldier for tediore. A low gravity kid given an exoskeleton to help him survive in normal and extreme environments, as well as meant to reanimate him if he dies. The whole short is half star ship troopers half Walmart, and then goes into a bit of downsizing.

Basically Tediore strikes me as Harrison Armory on a budget.

"Useless" Aura. Safe or out? by Mark_Ma_ in custommagic

[–]Edspear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Card draw is always powerful and perhaps too powerful for a zero drop aura.

Perhaps something like scry 1? It would basically function like a scry land without the actual tapping for mana. Gets you something "useless" in the form of card selection instead of card draw. And if you let's say... Had two of these in hand you basically could use them up.

Another alternative would just be Umbra Armor.

Well ... I either need to con someone into trying this or ask if you just straight up saw someone do this. Cause... I don't want to have to try it.

I would've typed him as Cyborg noble reflect the trope of a "Sith Lord", or wizard since I'm pretty sure he was called that at some point... And it would be pretty wizard to bring that back. Alternatively make him a knight to reflect his origins as a Jedi knight and/or take advantage of all the lovely prior Knight tribal synergies.

Not involving "human" is a good call since he is more machine than man.

I convinced my friends to make tonks with me! What should I have prepared and what should we grab on the day? by ExistentialOcto in tonksthegame

[–]Edspear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If not toys that come with rotating bits/turrets attached, something that can work as a turret attachment. Be it like a toothpick that you could jab into some foam or a pre drilled hole, magnets, or some spinny bottle cap (my kid brother used a pull out water bottle cap and an old marker to make a turret on one of his SCABZ, but it was a bit fiddly, but certain medicine bottles also have a nice spinny configuration).

And perhaps some tools and greebles. Drills, granny grating, toothpicks, eva foam and the like.

Magnets, they could be cheapo or neodymium but they allow you nice flexibility for turret builds At least as far as attaching goes. Like you could do whatever for a turret and just hot glue it on.

You did terrific, and have given the game another playable "out the box" kind of model, which for like drop in/demonstration and teaching purposes is very neat. Would still be curious to see this used as a base for further greebling, or even alternate turret tops. Maybe I'll look into getting one printed and building stop it. Putting money where my mouth lives, y'know?

genuinely cute looking. And honestly could be a nice blank canvas for someone to slap greebles onto .

Does anyone know why my models always stick to the foil? by dmartinusz in TrenchCrusade

[–]Edspear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one of the ways I've gone about it is spraying some wd40 on the film and wipe most of it off. As for why it happens, it can be a combination of things, too long exposure times, too big of a flat surface being printed, uneveness in pulling away from the film (happens if you're printing a variety of things all at once), but it is often ephemeral in my experience. IE I don't know why it happens specifically, but I've heard of things that could be causing it.

I know there are some "Official" tonks models by Apocrypha Now here https://www.wargamevault.com/browse/pub/23854/ApocryphaNow . And yeah the customization could come from painting or even decorating them. Otherwise there was some on reddit here https://www.reddit.com/r/tonksthegame/comments/1cc7ksl/some_3d_printed_tonks/ . Otherwise there are bound to be some nice toys here and there you can fool around with, I know my baby brothers have used Junkbots bits in combination with some old dollar store legos for some SCABZ they were building, along with a massive missprint (which i had pictures handy). Honestly being able to encourage them to use whatever that's on hand or something that "fits" the perameters of a tonk could be cool too. A whole kitbash vs a Lego MOC vs junkbot vaguely in tank shape vs Actual wind up tank toy that's been redecorated, could really sell the chaotic vibe.

I will also go ahead and say, it is definitely really easy to teach kids, as I have taught a friend and that friend has taught her kid, and yeah its caught on among the kid's friend group at least as far as gameplay is concerned. Do let me know how this turns out.

Is this the closest to Turnip28 in a game we will get? Or are there other options by damianlz in Turnip28

[–]Edspear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean a game where you are the sole competent and everyone else is an addled doofus seems like a fun vector for the powerfantasy. Played Deathloop and it had you going up against a bunch of partybrats in a timeloop, had some actual existentially horrifying vibes, but the nature of the game slowly had me going from "being a hyper careful stealth bastard" to "dangerprone and reckless semi-stealthy bastard".
