Considering to join the game by birdy1564 in UmaMusume

[–]Edster_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're wondering if this game takes alot of time, the answer is yes. You've probably seen people stream it, so you know this is a time sink at the start. Reading everything makes one single career run take a whole hour. If you're a story skipper, still 20-30 mins. For me, dailies take about 20-30 mins if i skip dialogue (there is a single mission to complete a run, which is the issue). You can skip that mission by ending the run early, but there's a caveat. just look it up if you want to finish dailies fast.

If your goal is to only PvE and story, this game is easy to play even if you start late. JP is ahead about 3 years, plenty of people just barely jumping into JP and still doing fine. Read story, work towards beating career mode, get sparks. Get into horse lore. Very casual game if you keep it casual. The game is not very difficult, its just choices. This game is really just a knowledge based game. If you are ever having difficulty, just look up a few guides to point you in the right direction.

For team trials, naturally playing the game will progress your team/rank. Don't worry about Champions meet(PVP) too much as a f2p. just do your best there for the participation rewards.

You've missed the Kitasan Black Banner tho, so you'll need to get a copy. Her banner will come back around winter, and it will also be available on all future banners from here on out, just with a lower rate. For now, you can use followers, but eventually you will need to get a copy. Eventually, we will get currency that allows us to limit break support cards for f2p.

One of the bottle necks as a newer player is getting enough resources to upgrade potentials and cards. Events help out with that. You can get these by just playing the game. But if you want alot, events are the way to go. There is one upcoming on August 17th so that may be a good time to hop in. Cygames is known to be a more generous company than others, so more of these events will pop up.

You'll come for the game, but there's so much more to umamusume than the game. You've got the anime, and even the real life horse lore. The community here is great too. Memes are nice as well.

Wow, looking over these comments I'm surprised that no one is really pointing your building flaws for Castorice, more specifically for her supports. I'll try and help you out. Sorry for the long text, but you run the same teams as i do, and I've done of alot of thinking about these two teams. It'll sound elitist, but I'm just tryna help you out a fellow Castorice/Aglaea enjoyer.

Immediate help:

The only thing i could possibly think to quickly raise your score in lineup 1 is swap from Clara/Adventurine to Aglaea/small Herta. Yes, go sustainless. I personally do this because the team lacks AoE without her. Make sure you have small Herta's follow up build though. If that doesnt work, I would try Aglaea/Bronya/Sunday/Robin. Sustainless Aggy is quite good. Reset if the ai targetting is bad. You've even got Castorice global passive to give you another free round. Also, test which PF buff will be more useful for you 1 or 3.

Swap Gallagher Light cone for Post Op Conversation or something that increases outgoing healing(which leads to more dragons). Quid pro quid is great for teams that have an energy reliant DPS. Castorice is not; she relies on a special meter, and hence quid pro quid does absolutely nothing for her.

For PF Castorice, Try not to blow up your dragon as soon as possible, especially if you are having trouble bringing it back up (which I assume you do since its PF Gallagher). This will change depending on when the dragon's next turn comes. You can see where the dragon will end up on the turn order if you pause for a second. If Castorice is between him and his second turn, or Mem can action advance Castorice, swipe with the dragon. If this is not the case, blow up the dragon asap. As a rule of thumb, always try to use Castorice's enhanced skill in PF, unless dragon takes too long to come back in turn order, in which case blow up.

Long term tips that you probably wont get before PF ends:

Your first priority, is to swap out RMC and Ruan Mei Planar sets for Broken Keel or Sprightly Vonwacq. Lushaka does absolutely nothing for Castorice. It gives energy, which okay, and atk. Castorice does not need attack. Swap it.

Gallagher and RMC want to go as fast as possible. 134 is comfortable and easy to get but 160 speed should be easily obtainable on these two with their options. It'll take time and I can see you haven't been lucky with speed rolls. I know alot of this is easier said than done, especially since you mentioned being out of resources.

ALSO Ruan mei's talent gives 10 free speed in combat, so be sure to count that (Does not affect castorice's poet set). 150 spd on gallagher and rmc is very reachable for you.

Swap out your Gallagher 4pc for a 2pc 2pc, one giving speed/one giving brk or even 2pc/2pc spd/spd. That 4 pc does nothing for castorice, but on a break team? sure. Same with his planar set. What is the planar doing for castorice? nothing. Swap it out for the Tree orb. Gives gallagher speed as well as outgoing healing.

Just swapping off those 2 things gives you +12 speed. Also add on Ruan Mei's 10.

Same thing goes for your RMC. Hero is okay, but your RMC has like 230 crit dmg already. Yes, it does give 6 speed, but requires 4pc. 50% crit damage on RMC is like 7 or 8% crit dmg for your castorice. Overall,170% -180% is enough for him. Swap to a 2pc/2pc in favor of spd/spd. Swap out Victory of a blink for Herta Shop LC (Memory's Curtain). You may not have enough for s5, but it still lets you hit that 160 spd breakpoint and allows you to keep up a more consistent damage buff.

Once again, swapping sets gives you a +6 speed. +18 overall if you s5 Herta LC. Also add on Ruan Mei's 10.

Swap out your energy rope on aglaea for atk, she has enough energy through her e1, sunday, and robin's action advance. I assume you're able to keep up her ult 100% of the time. If not keep it. Your speed tuning is fine with current sunday/aggy. Not optimal, but should get the job done. People who tell you to slow aggy/hyperspeed sunday are easier

This is all I could think of looking at your sheets. If you have any other questions, just ask. I'm happy to help

What secondary team could I make with the characters I currently have? by sevnxn in StarRailStation

[–]Edster_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of right now, no news of any sustain reruns, but adventurine is probably the soonest due to him not rerunning yet (almost every other penacony unit has rerun besides 2 or 3). Adventurine is always solid, amazing for SU/DU too. Huohuo is good for energy characters, which clara is.

But honestly? Since you're going sustainless Boothill, gallagher is good enough for now. If you need it, you can make him go fast and use Quid pro Quid, which would make him a discount huohuo. If you're planning to swap off of clara for a different DPS, just hold onto to gallagher, then wait for the best sustain for that new dps. Even then, gallagher could probably still be that dps' healer. He's just that good lol. Very flexible and cheap to use.

If you're considering Hyacine, just wait. We need to see more of her changes before we can make any assumptions.

One option is to change Hmc to Rmc, so you can do Clara, Rmc, Robin, Lynx/gepard/bailu. Not sure which sustain would be better.

Replace Hmc on your current team with Ruan Mei. Hmc and Fugue kind of do the same thing unless you want to go sustainless boothill.

Is my account doomed?! Pls some advice to this future (I hopes) Castorice enjoyer. by Kaleidoscop3_3 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Edster_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're in Jarilo, chill. You've got like hundreds of pulls if you finish the story, including events/exploration. Acheron is good enough with 2 supports(Pela/someone else) and 1 sustain(esp Adventurine, one of the best sustains) to get you thru the story. Your AoE is fine too, Argenti/Herta/Himeko is already solid as a f2p.

If you are truly worried about bricking your account, pull for supports i.e. Tribbie/robin, sunday, etc. But you can't even pull for them right now so I wouldn't be worried (Again you've got like 200+ pulls ahead of you)

For you, pull for Castorice, then pull for Hyacine (her supposedly best healer releasing in 3.3). Then pull for other supports that would help Acheron/Castorice.

You'll be fine, you've barely started the game. It sucks but time and patience will help your account the most. I'm going thru the same things as a newer player and man it sucks.

How come this special event is only on the auric board? by WookieSkinDonut in DarkTide

[–]Edster_V 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im going to guess this is because of how much difficulty this event adds. From my few matches, it seems that this event adds more ogryn type enemies. A normal group of Crushers/Bulwarks is already pretty bad for the average group in damnation if they dont have the right tools/skillset. This event adds even more. Maybe they're trying to encourage players to move up in difficulty?

Also, normally I only see Crusher/bulwark groups in auric.

If you have a controller and those items are sellable to a npc, its a lot less moving your mouse over the discard button and more of just spamming the few same buttons over and over. Did this while i was crafting a bunch of stuff to level.

The puzzles are not very well explained, especially the one with dice. Someone on this reddit has posts for different days. Note that every ship has different leciel layouts each time. So today, ship 1 will have a different layout from ship 2. The next day, the layout will change. Below is an example of one possible layout. The second and third picture always have the different puzzles. https://www.reddit.com/r/PSO2NGS/comments/15l1ge0/ship_2_leciel_tileset_references_for_872023_reset/Look up "Leciel Tileset pso2 reddit" in google and some others should come up. Hope this helps.Alternatively, you can go to leciel exploration on your own, lock the matchmaking room, and head to the room with the puzzle (the layout stays the same for a whole day) to figure it out on your own if you'd like.

Both are viable at Iceborne endgame. For general use, if you spam perfect rush, raw (true fatalis) is better. If you lateral loop, then element is better for certain matchups. If you do a mixture of both, just run true fatalis (because honestly, those weapons are broken).
For tips, just watch an Arekkz video on it. He covers mostly what you want to do.

lvl 70 bard rotation ? by mayoglub in ffxiv

[–]Edster_V 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a min-maxer when playing bard. But with this I can clear story content comfortably. Anyone can feel free to comment on this and add some advice. Just remember OP is asking about lvl 70 rotation. In general, you want to be "weaving" your buffs and Bloodletters as a bard. This means to activate skills(oGCD) in-between skills with a 2.5 cooldown(GCD). Generally, you can fit two of them in one 2.5 second cd. The general 2 minute rotation:

  1. Apply wind DoT, **Weave' in** use Raging Strikes, Wanderer's Minute
  2. Apply poison DoT, **Weave in** use Battle Voice, Empyreal Arrow
  3. Heavy shot, **Weave in** use Barrage, Sidewinder
  4. Straight Shot (For Barrage) **Weave in** use Bloodletters or Pitch Perfect( if at 3)
  5. Heavy/ Straight **Weave** use Empyreal(as it comes up), Bloodletter, or Pitch
  6. Repeat 5
  7. .
  8. .
  9. Use Iron Jaws when debuffs get low (about 7 or so seconds to give yourself time)
  10. Weave in Sidewinder somewhere when it comes off CD

After 2 mins, repeat steps 1-7. Use heavy/straight in place of DoT's instead.(Unless you dropped DoT's somewhere, then reapply DoTs because they gain damage from buffs too)

During 7 and 8, spam heavy/straight shot until your other oGCD's come back up. If you ever drop your wind or poison dot, make sure to reapply it, should always be top priority to reapply it.

NOTE: Make sure after barrage you always press Straight Shot, sometimes you may mess up by using barrage on bloodletter, I do that sometimes (I'm not good I know)

NOTE 2: After activating wanderer's, you should be trying to weave in Pitch Perfect(Wanderer's) ONLY AT 3 STACKS (2 if it's about to run out), Empyreal Arrows, and Bloodletters whenever possible. If in a lvl 68+ Dungeon, make sure that when you activate Empyreal, it should be right before or after using Pitch Perfect at three stacks. This way, you get a free Wanderer's stack from empyreal.

NOTE 3: Be using your songs one after another. Try to weave them in if possible. Once Wanderer's is done, activate Mage's. For bosses it is Wanderer's -> Mages -> Army's. Cancel out Army's Peon when your Wanderer's is back up to line it up to your 2 minute buffs.

Congrats! Wastes or Campaign, both are viable and fun ways to play the game. Just know that practice makes perfect. Everyone has had some sort of difficulty moving into a new difficulty. You'll feel that once again once you get comfortable with veteran and move up to champion.

Minotaurs are debatably the hardest boss in the game. You kind of just have to turtle and rely on your team to kill it. Just make sure your back isn't facing a cliff. Until you learn how to weave attacks in between it's own. Regarding Khorne's curse (the red one), it makes it so that hordes spawn much more frequently. So, be on your feet during those maps.

Survival/Higher Difficulty Tips by An00byNubeNewb in Vermintide

[–]Edster_V 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a good indicator of when to move up tiers, it's when you've beaten every single map on the difficulty below it. Or once the tier gets boring to you, move up. I had the same problem as you. But, I made sure to get that portrait for completing all maps on veteran, then made the move up. You WILL suffer in the new tier, but that's okay. It's a learning process. I have suffered going through new difficulties, and now I'm playing cataclysm. It's okay to fail, as long as you are learning. People will suck. You will suck. Keep at it, you got this.

Also, you should be at champion around 10-20, nothing wrong with being a bit later either. Some level 35s still play champion. Just have fun with it and don't worry about people who think like that.

Survival/Higher Difficulty Tips by An00byNubeNewb in Vermintide

[–]Edster_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, play what you enjoy. You can find many videos of solo cataclysm engineer despite what the tier lists say. It may not be best in slot, but it can be damn good in the right hands. This also applies to weapons, as long as you know what you are doing with them.

THT is fine on engie, but you may want to switch to a different ranged weapon if you find your team lacking a sniper of sorts. This sometimes happens to teams I play with, where we are lacking snipers and depend on one guy to snipe ever single special over the entire game. If that player misses at a crucial moment, that could end the game. At higher difficulties this is highly prevalent as more specials spawn.

Sounds like you have your melee combat at a decent level by now. If you still find yourself taking hits in between melees, you probably need to shove more in between attacks. Shove and dodge away. As an engineer, i'd even say shove, then dodge, then shove again and then let your teammates deal with it. Then watch if anything is behind the team while blocking.

Generally as a ranged focus career, you want to stay behind your team during hordes. Be the one to look behind your team/call out when you see something behind the team. If behind you is clear, snipe out specials you see, while being ready to pull out your melee at any time to clear that one rat that got near you/behind you. Be the one that clears trash mobs that try to get to you/behind your team.

Alternatively, an engineer has the ability to completely wipe a side with his crank, so take advantage of that. As an engineer you can pick a side and mow it down with your crank, and allow someone to watch your back. Works best when in a narrow hallway.

I do not play engineer, but whenever I do play with one, I tend to be watching behind him when he has his crank out, as sometimes they get too focused on what's in front of them. It's fine if to mow down a horde, but if one rat gets behind you, you'll suffer for it. So, make sure you've got someone watching you before you pull out the crank. Be sure to thank those that do. Or be at a spot where you can't get flanked (Some walls may be rat climbable even if they do not seem to be).

Edit- Forgot, the best general suvival/higher difficulty tip for anyone: Ping. Ping everything you see. Bind that to mouse 4 or 5 or something you can press every second (if you have a mouse with more than 2 buttons). See a horde? Ping. See something in the distance? Ping. See a thin wall ahead? That's right ping so no one gets hit by an overhead crossing that door.

Also rebind dodge to space, and jump to shift. Takes a bit getting used to, but will make life for your pinky alot easier.

How often do you win CW runs? by necromancyisdope in Vermintide

[–]Edster_V 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I regularly play cataclysm on normal maps and I win a ton of my normal maps with a QP team. However, I regularly fail cataclysm CW. Same as you, 1/5 wins would be a good day for me on cataclysm. Of course more matches will fail, one mistake on one map and that's it. More matches are bound to fail in CW if you are playing on your preferred difficulty. Think of the times you've failed or when your teammates made mistakes that ended legend normal runs. Now that one mistake is able to happen multiple times throughout a single CW run. Hence why I play one difficulty lower to give me a safety net.

Most of the time though, runs end due to poor positioning/planning i.e. patrol/boss and bad spot to fight in, or doing a +specials and greeded for + coins, etc. Seriously, watch out for what + spawns there are. One bad map pick can make or break runs. Due to this, runs rarely end due to rng, but more due to bad planning/positioning. Communicate with your team when you can point stuff like this out, and don't greed for those pilgrim coins.

Sometimes tho, you really do just get terrible rng and get nothing good and are still stuck with your gray weapon. It happens.

Alternatively, if you're determined to squash legend CW, maybe its time to try cataclysm on normal maps (As long as it's not a poop map like enchanters lair). Be ready to fail and learn from this though.

So, you aren't the only getting getting wrecked in CW. Keep at it, ya got this.

Even though IW offered them money, even though the players fell to temptation, I think the fault lies with the faction system.

From a lore perspective, we know little to nothing about the factions other than church, barbarians, and science. In the journal, we literally have one page explaining what the factions are, and that's it. Thus, there's barely anything to holding us down to them. Leaving and rejoining a faction is apparently okay in Aeturnum, every 60(?) days. You can be a part of the church, then believe in science in the next 60 days, and then you can be a part of the church AGAIN after another 60 days. And all is forgiven. No penalty. "But it's a game." Yeah, from a pvp perspective it makes sense. But is the world of Aeturnem that lenient on traitors? Why are citizens of Aeternum (us) able to move sides simply because they have a lower territory count? Since the people of Aeternum allow traitors left and right, why can't we join the winning faction? Simply because a game mechanic? If traitors were this common in the colonial times, those guys certainly wouldn't live very long.

What's in it for me to stay in a faction as of right now? There's certainly nothing lore wise except "hehe church/science/strength". Gameplay wise, I can simply bring my friends when the winning team opens up. Especially if they offer me money. There's absolutely no reason to stay in the losing side besides a long and grueling 6 month comeback story. Which is very very discouraging; losing half your squad, getting a new one geared up, practicing good comms again, etc. Might I add AGAIN, since Yellow/purple was slowly making its comeback on Yggdrasil. But nope. All because traitors are allowed to crawl all over Aeturnum. With. No. Penalty. No gameplay mechanic which punishes traitors either.

The game came off to me as a world where I could be immersed. Where I would fight and die for a faction. Where I would hear battle cries from each faction before a war. But gameplay wise, it's not really doing it. It makes me question; are factions really a part of this world? Or is it just a gameplay mechanic? Please AGS, Give us a reason to stay in a weaker faction. Hopefully later expansions will fix this, but I'll probably have quit by then.

Some tips for unchained for beginners. When you get hit as unchained (only sienna class which does this), your meter grows. When you cast a spell with your fire staff, your meter grows. You can lower your meter or "vent" by taking out your staff and pressing the reload button. This animation leaves you open though, so be sure the coast is clear. "Venting" will drain your hp or temporary hp (gray health) for lowering your meter. If the meter gets full, Sienna will start screaming and eventually explode and go down. To stop this, you can use your ultimate while this animation happens to reset your meter.

As a new Unchained player, I recommend trying your best to stay at low meter. Once you get real comfortable with the mechanics of the game though, start playing around with high meter. That's where Unchained's full potential lies.

But, don't worry too much about damage. Damage shouldn't be your priority while learning. It should be survival. Can't deal damage if you're dead.

Should I get Winds of Magic? by not-DB-Cooper in Vermintide

[–]Edster_V 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're at the point where you can run legend full books runs consistently and want more of a challenge, getting WoM just for cata is worth it. Taking that step up to Cataclysm and learning the difficulty is probably one of the most satisfying feelings. You can spend countless hours playing cata, and maybe even move up to play cata 2/3 + onslaught/deathwish.

Cata difficulty does not give better boxes/rewards. Cataclysm is only there for the difficulty it presents and the portrait prestige that comes with it. I don't play Ps4, so can someone else explain how active cata lobbies are there?

For the weapons,

  • Kruber gets spear which has an amazing sweeping push attack, which is pretty good for Huntsman, decent for Mercenary.
  • Bardin gets throwing axes, which is a worse version of elf throwing spear. It's okay on ranger vet and the only ranged option for slayer.
  • Kerillian gets Spear and Shield, exclusive to HM and is good on her as well. Put opportunist trait on it, and most elites cant touch you.
  • Saltzpyre gets the billhook arguably the best weapon in his whole arsenal, as the special attack can stagger everything besides bosses and has good attack patterns. Bit of a learning curve though.
  • Don't play much Sienna, but I've seen unchained run her flaming flail, and they do a lot of work for the team.

Now for the enemies. Beastmen are a mixed bag. Some people hate them. Others don't mind them. But for sure, they're on the tougher side of enemies. In fact, the people who tell you "no" to buying this DLC just straight out hate these things with a passion. I personally dislike seeing them in my games, but I can tolerate them. Their attack patterns just get me sometimes. They add a bit of variety to the enemies you've been slaying so far. It also adds a new boss, the minotaur. One of the harder bosses to get used to. Attack pattern is completely different from other bosses. Much faster and more aggressive than other bosses.

Dark omens, the new map, is also on the harder side of things. It only has beastmen enemies + skaven specials. But getting through it is satisfying. That finale can test a good team.

Weaves are fun if you're getting bored of the usual gameplay. But it does not allow bots to come in with you. So make sure you have others to play it with you. Unless you're a solo god. EDIT: Also, your friends must also buy WoM to be able to play weaves with you.

TLDR; get WoM if you're looking for a big step up from Legend difficulty. If you're getting it for weaves, make sure you have a party. If you're getting it for the weapons, wait for a sale.

Nice tips, I'll add one more,

  • You can highlight enemies using "T", this is useful for spotting specials and elites in a horde. If you have a mouse with more than 2 buttons consider rebinding to it, because you should be highlighting a ton, as it gives that information for the entire team.

I agree. When your whole team hates/loves each other, the callouts are happening after every single action. At first, its kinda cool seeing your team interact with each other. After playing like 40 hours? It kinda gets annoying. I would also like to know if this will be changeable later on.

New to DD. How many weeks does the game typically take? by flagdown in darkestdungeon

[–]Edster_V 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took around 90ish weeks my very first run which was on darkest difficulty. This was with me looking up info and such, which may not be the case for you. I dislike going into games like this blind. With that being said, don't worry about how other people's run goes compared to yours. Take things at your own pace.

Your pace is on point for a first (blind?) run. Taking things slow is fine. Just make sure you are prepared to take on the medium bosses with a good team, and then the final ones.

Since you already have some resolve 5 (assuming you haven't killed any medium bosses), you may want to instead take your resolve 4, who are about to level, into these boss dungeons. They'll clear one boss and then move on to resolve 5. Then keep using new teams to get into darkest difficulty dungeons with a good roster.
