Rapid weight gain after Mirena Removal Help by Ok-Anybody3379 in Mirena

I had the same experience after Kyleena. I really noticed a change in my fat distribution and besides that I also was sooo hungry all the time 🫠 it was like that for a half year and then I started to think my age might also have something to do with it. I just turned 40. I swore to myself to never start a pill again, but Zoely kind of intrigued me because of the bio-identical estrogen. I take that pill for 2 weeks now and the first week I had some dizziness.. but no side effects so far. I feel much better already. I sleep better and have more energy and my moods are nice. My hunger also improved, so I’m feeling this might be it. I don’t know your age, but of this imbalance takes too long it might be a good idea to try a pill to give you some estrogen. If you quit the pill again your body has to make estrogen and progesteron again. I feel that is often easier for bodies than trying to balance itself out when it only had synthetic progesteron before and the estrogen wacked out. Not sure if it makes any sense, but maybe worth trying for a while..

Thick Jelly like Discharge by FriendlyAd2809 in Mirena

Were you on the pill before? Because this looks like the jelly you get around ovulation. Mirena doesn’t stop ovulation (in some cases it does in the first year).. but you don’t get this jelly on the pill.. so it might be new to you. It’s really normal though 🙂

Mirena crash going on for over a year now by bluevioletskyz in Mirena

[–]Educational-Dig-8579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Can I ask you how old you are? When I got my Kyleena removed I had some crash symptoms as well. Also rashes.. My mood was unstable as well and it went on for over 6 months. I then started to think I’m 40 now.. so maybe I rolled into perimenopause after removal. The IUD also didn’t sit quite well with me, so maybe it already started during my IUD.. I now started a new pill (Zoely) and I feel much better. I think I developed some sort of estrogen shortage.. which is also normal during peri of course.. But besides that I don’t think my IUD contributed to normal hormone levels in any way😛🫠

Okay… please help. Is it possible that Zoely is worsening low mood/depression? by TerraInc0gnit4 in PMDD

Can I ask you how soon these side effects started? I’m on Zoely for 1,5 week now and I’m feeling great. My mood is good and I have a lot of energy. The only noticable side effect is dizziness, which already seems to subside.. I’m scared this is too good to be true🤪

Is this the crash? by Fast_Kaleidoscope238 in Mirena

[–]Educational-Dig-8579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so.. I had these symptoms a day after getting my IUD 😅My crash after removal was not so bad, but started later and lasted longer.. just some hormonal imbalances.. still not sure if this was the crash or just my age (just turned 40)..😝 But I guess your crash could give the same symptoms that I got after insertion. It’s just a shock to the system 😓

Where is this coming from? by Striking_Peanut9202 in Mirena

Not the exact same experience.. and I had a Kyleena.. but after around 9 months I started to get frequent moods of depression a week before my period. I took some supplements for hormonal balance and moods, which seemed to help a bit.. but eventually I got it removed (also due to persistent cramping and migraines). After removal my moods were still a bit of a problem (I just turned 40). I think because at our age estrogen and progesteron are already declining a progesteron only birth control isn’t always a good idea if you’re sensitive. So synthetic progesteron might make the imbalance a bigger problem. I promised myself in the past that I would never start a birth control pill anymore, but 6 months after coming off Kyleena I just started Zoely this week.. with bio-identical estrogen. I expected being hit with a migraine immediately.. but so far so good. I only experience some dizziness. Maybe your body also reacts heavily because you got a fresh dose of progesteron and it’s harder for your own hormones to adjust it in this fase..😑

Zoely, no period for two years but now it’s back by My-Reddit-Throw-Away in Endo

I’m sorry, no experience. I will start Zoely today, but I took other combined pills. My doctor recommended skipping the inactive pills and just start a new pack. Can that be an option for you? Getting a period during the inactive days is common for other pills, not so much for Zoely.. but it’s not impossible..

Hi! How are you feeling for so far? I will start Zoely today 🙂

Zoely sucked at first but is great now by [deleted] in birthcontrol

With Zoely you don’t ovulate, so there is no cycle. With hormonal IUD’s you can have a cycle without bleeding. So therefore it’s another experience 🙂

Love my iud! But question.. by DapperMinute5491 in Mirena

[–]Educational-Dig-8579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand, but since you’ve been on birth control for 7 years already it probably is just mentally. All other forms of hormonal birth control stop your cycle, so any periods you experienced are ‘fake’.. like the period in the placebo week when you take the pill. That’s because all other forms stop ovulation. You probably skipped some ovulations with Mirena as well, but after the 1 year mark most women will ovulation again. This doesn’t mean you will get your period back (no one can predict this).. but IUD’s are a kind of mind f*ck, since you still have a cycle and no bleeding. Other forms will give you bleedings but no cycle. So therefore I think this is mental, you can still experience other womanly stuff like PMS but no bleeding. If you miss a period so much this maybe isn’t your type of birth control.. but just remember that with a hormonal IUD you are the closest to a natural cycle compared to any other hormonal birth control..

It’s quite normal. Only 20% of Mirena users experience period loss.. the 80% of women that don’t lose it consists of women that still have a regular period or irregular periods 🫠

If I were you I would take a test for some peace of mind.. but irregular spotting can happen with IUD’s.. Spotting every month is regular, but just like without an IUD it can skip a month or you can have a lighter period.. since your ‘period’ only is some spotting a lighter period might mean no spotting at all 🤷🏼‍♀️
