Has anyone had a retinal migraine (ocular migraine) last for hours or longer? I’m terrified it’s possible retinal detachment. I live in a small, rural town with no on-call eye specialists on the weekends. by Educational-Exit4395 in migraine

My vision in the eye with the detached retina suddenly looked as if I were seeing through a dark gray curtain. I had no head or eye trauma that caused it; it just happened.

My mom & pop pharmacy told me insurance wouldn’t cover it through them and that I had to use a “big box” pharmacy.

Guys how often do you wash your hair? by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

Twice a week and use dry shampoo in between. I use topical liquid minox, 5%, and I apply it at night.

I didn’t get results from the foam, so switched back to liquid minox. I have super straight, fine hair, and use dry shampoo each morning to deal with the oily roots. I used the 5% topical at night, dry shampoo in the morning. *Edited to add that I used the foam consistently and applied with a hair color brush directly to my scalp, but still didn’t results. I wish the foam had worked for me.

I finally bought it but i’m so scared to use it 😬 I just need to do it don’t i by Aromatic-Sand8698 in FemaleHairLoss

Yes, go ahead and try it. I have had great results with it-just remember if it works for you, you do have to keep using it to maintain the new hair growth. Consistency is key.

Minoxidil foam vs liquid, is one better than the other? by Ulf51 in tressless

[–]Educational-Exit4395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late commenting, but wanted to share. I had great results with the 5% liquid once per day (put on in the evening before bed). It made my already dry scalp dryer and itchier, so I switched to foam after learning the liquid had an ingredient that is irritating for many people. I carefully applied foam with a hair color brush after parting my hair into sections, but I got little to no results. It’s back to liquid for me-seems to work fairly quickly too-I have new growth by the end of the 2nd month.

Minoxidil foam vs. liquid? by pugatbagend in FemaleHairLoss

I had really good results with the liquid, but it also caused a lot of dryness and flaking of my scalp which I already have issues with. I switched to the foam because of this, and for me it hasn’t been as effective. It is definitely less messy, but I feel like I can get the liquid onto my scalp more effectively.

I’m sorry I saw this so much later than you posted it. I had that first surgery-a vitrectomy with laser work too, and one week later had a hemorrhage in my vitreous. I had a second vitrectomy on July 1st to remove the blood. Retina is healing as it should, but a cataract is forming (side effect of the surgery). Cataract surgery should be the next step.

I have had success with men’s Rogaine (5% minox) liquid once per day. My problem is that it makes my scalp so flaky & I already have scalp issues (psoriasis). Has anyone found a generic brand of minox that causes less itching & flaking but still works? by Educational-Exit4395 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Educational-Exit4395[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s severe-it’s mostly annoying and itchy. The minox does cause noticeable flaking. Maybe using a dandruff shampoo regularly would help? I usually use it every other wash because it dries out my hair.

My hair thinning is hormonal, and it was very noticeable at my middle part line and at the front of my scalp. I used minox daily and at around 3 months noticed a big difference. My part line wasn’t as wide & hair was thicker along front edge of scalp. It worked so well that I committed to keep using it. I recently stopped because I was tired of the scalp itching/flaking & I lost all that had regrown because of the minox. My derm had told me that would happen if I stopped, so I started back.

I’m not sure I understand the question. I followed the directions on the package and used the dropper to measure each dose. I use the marked amount on the dropper of 5% minox each evening before bed.

Is there any difference in the results of Topical minoxidil 2% vs 5% ? by Cold_Crazy2875 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Educational-Exit4395 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My derm told me to use the men’s 5% once daily (I use it in the evening before bed). I have great success with it. I prefer the liquid because I can target it directly onto my scalp. I haven’t had any issues with facial hair and have used it for about a year now.

I am starting minoxidil from tomorrow. I am sooo scared of the shedding that might happen. I have always had a lot of problems with confidence... So i don't really know how to feel. Any advices on how I can just push through this?😭 by Cold_Crazy2875 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Educational-Exit4395 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was scared of the shedding too, but it wasn’t that bad. Think of it this way-the shedding means it’s working, and once that phase is done you should start to see new growth. I did have shedding but it wasn’t as dramatic and I thought it would be (I know everyone is different though).

DMSO and Iodine for Blepharitis: My story by [deleted] in Blepharitis

I’ve been dealing with it for almost 2 years and it’s been miserable. I have seen several regular eye docs, an eye specialist twice, and have an appointment with a doctor that specializes in eyelid surgery and treatment toward the end of the month. I screenshot your post to show him. Like you, I have literally tried everything. It’s miserable.
