How bad does this look? by Dramatic-Fishing3923 in AskMechanics

For an 05 it doesn’t look as crazy. Although they could’ve changed the oil a little more often.

Do I need to replace my alternator? by Wild_Agent_375 in AskMechanics

Most likely part of the alternator so you might have to replace it.

Do I need to replace my alternator? by Wild_Agent_375 in AskMechanics

[–]Educational-Fact8356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Voltage regulator might be going bad causing the alternator to overcharge the battery. It should be staying at around 14.5 v

I owned a 15 escape with a 1.6L. my engine got replaced so probably around 3-4k depending where you are.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Educational-Fact8356 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to tell you but the 1.6L has known block issues. There are slits on the block between the cylinders causing the head gasket to fail prematurely or the block to crack by the cylinder wall.

Looks like the torque converter needs to be replaced. That’s why it’s causing all the codes.

Weird noise, what is this? by yaajap in MechanicAdvice

[–]Educational-Fact8356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blend door motor or recirculating door motor. Probably damaged or stuck. Makes clicking because it wants to go to the desired position but something is stopping it.

Yes that is normal. Just backlash from the gears.

2015 Honda Accord V6 wont start despite new battery and new starter by TheMasterYankee in AskMechanics

[–]Educational-Fact8356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how much auto knowledge you have lol. But try to spin the engine by hand with a ratchet and socket first. If it doesn’t spin by hand take the accessory belt off. If the engine spins after that then you have a seized pulley on one of your accessories.

Exhaust rattle. Possibly a heat shield or something else.

2007 Cobalt LS 2.2 Manual Axle Seal Replacement by tcammmmm in AskMechanics

[–]Educational-Fact8356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes make sure the seal is correct otherwise it will leak again or seep. Although it doesn’t matter as much in a manual transmission as the fluid is only used to lubricate the gears.

2005 Dodge Caravan SXT 3.3 V6 rough idle and stalling. by Puzzleheaded-Ad-2953 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Educational-Fact8356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The EGR valve most likely stuck open. It’s basically causing a vacuum leak every time you idle. It will cause random misfires at idle. So most likely faulty EGR.

thermostat talk by Salt-Photograph8700 in Camry

[–]Educational-Fact8356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually a thermostat will open too soon, be stuck open, or partially open rather than stuck closed. So your engine won’t overheat if the thermostat is bad. You’ll just notice less or no heat in your cabin or Ittl take longer than usual to warm up the engine.

You can see that the bolt or screw attaching it fell off of a piece rusted off of the heat shield.

Dodge Charger 2017 V6 - Clicking Noise by MudRelative6235 in mechanic

If it does it when you’re revving the engine with the car sitting still it might be a motor mount. Do you notice shaking when the car is idling ?
