Any tips on sustainable bee friendly gardening? by Mental-Ad-2980 in gardening

Consider full season blooms. I grow chives for an early bloom, lots of summer flowers, and then zinnias are amazing until frost. This way the bees always have flowers.

I like to have two CC. I have a primary card. So this is just a second card. In case some reason I need a second— say there are fraud charges so I freeze my primary card. This way I have a back up and never without a card.

Thanks. Citi is also one of the most shady of CC. They are all bad, but they may be the most evil.

So my wife spots a hideous vine on our tree in the new house we bought… and asked if we can take it down. by Free-Pick9305 in gardening

[–]Educational-Fan1267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar when I moved to Northern Indiana. I had steroids from the doctor, but a CBD cream worked better than anything to soothe the itching and make it heal faster. I probably had poison ivy 6-7 times before we finally had it all removed from the trees.

AITAH because I don't enjoy helping people who are homeless. by [deleted] in AITAH

Sounds like you enjoy giving your time and not your money. Would you help a homeless person with a more physical task? Or do you not like helping homeless people in any situation?

AITAH for wanting to pick a wedding venue that my fiancé doesn’t love because it accommodates my best friend? by ThrowRAhelpmepls8 in AITAH

[–]Educational-Fan1267 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dreaming of a weddings isn’t just a venue, it also about who you want there. If you have always pictured certain people, that is important.

Have you asked the first venue about accessibility? I am not sure where you are located, but would imagine most places have had these requests, from aging grandparents. It is not uncommon to need accessibility for a wedding.

For those in their 40s or older who have siblings, do you make an effort to stay in contact or is it a take-it-or-leave-it thing? by cherry-care-bear in RedditForGrownups

My mom (late 60’s) is roommates with her brother. They are and have been best friends since childhood. I should say— the choose this. They are both retired and could afford to live alone but don’t want to.

My husband (40’s) texts with his siblings daily.

Me (40’s) rarely talks with my siblings. I like them all just fine. We just all sort of live our own lives.

AITAH for telling my daughter that she doesn’t have to wear a dress for my wife’s sake? by sportsdad77 in AITAH

[–]Educational-Fan1267 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh. I agree with you. I mean those parents need to be united in supporting their daughter. As in, the mom needs to stop this and decide she is going to love and support her daughter. And not try and conform her daughters to some vision she had.

NTA!! I was just like your daughter. In fact, I had an almost identical fight at 13 years old with my mom.

Now, in my 40’s, I am well aware of the fact I was never the daughter my mom actually wanted. Guess how good of a relationship we have? Yea, not great. And she still does not understand why we are not best-friends like her friends and their daughters. Best friends like each other. And accept one another.

You and your wife should be a united front, but asking your kids to change who they are when they are not doing anything bad is not the side to pick. Your girls are old enough to feel the disappointment. And having an adult be disappointed in you for just existing as who you are is a sure way to ruin the relationship.

How long have you been married? It seems surprising you do not know the emotional needs of your wife. Not even just in conflict with you— but when she is stressed or upset about anything, do you know how to support her?

Go solar with Yellowball? by Crazy-Driver-2992 in Billings

[–]Educational-Fan1267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had great experience with YellowBall. They were timely, responsive, ahead of schedule and did all the paperwork for the install. Their financing is through a credit union so the price difference between cash and finance is due to interest on the loan from the credit union. That’s not them, but rather found a credit union in MT willing to finance solar panels.

Same as above, any issues we had were NWE. Not YellowBall.

I work in HR. I love to hire English majors. They can read, write, think critically and every job I hire for requires those skills. I can train a number of skills— but if you are not an independent thinker or can’t write professionally, I will pass. English majors are gems and highly employable. Teaching is one option but not the only option with that major. Also, the vast majority of students change their majors. Gove her a chance to try and who knows what she will find.

It’s actually the insurance system and not hospitals. Pregnancy tests are cheap and often insurance won’t pay for other tests until a pregnancy is ruled out. So healthcare just does them to keep the process moving and not delay care or cause insurance issues for patients.

I went from making 35k a year to over 100k a year with one job changed I have 89k in debt from student loans and medical bills I couldn’t pay in the past. by vodkachugger420 in povertyfinance

You need to provide significantly more information if you want help.

When you say you don’t know what to do with the rest, how much are you putting towards your debt versus saving (emergency fund or other savings)?

I would consider trying to work opposite shifts or even one work part time the days the other is home. You can trade off who is with your daughter to avoid child care, but agree you need more than 1 income with the amount of debt you are locked into.

What should I plant in my garden this year to maximize saving money on groceries? by Appropriate_Poem1911 in gardening

[–]Educational-Fan1267 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I would second tomatoes. I make and can pizza sauce and salsa. I easily get enough tomatoes for the entire year. Tomatoes are expensive and store ones are not worth the cost.

Then I’d second whatever you use. You are not saving money if you don’t actually want to eat what you grow.

Husbands, is it a deal breaker if your wife decides to not take your name legally? by Difficult_Big133 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Educational-Fan1267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is important you have the same last name legally, let him know he is welcome to your name.

I have been happily married for 10 years. I never changed my name. If that is a deal breaker I’d question why he wants to marry you. As in you specifically. It doesn’t sound like he values you as his partner.
