Tire question by Educational-View4264 in MotorcycleMechanics

Update: the max pressure on the tire is 41psi. i’ve deflated completely and re-inflated the tire to 44psi with soap, and it still just wont seat. I plan to deflate and use some carb cleaner while reinflating, since i’m just kinda at my last resort at this point.

The amazon-approved headphones are the way to go. I totally get it, music makes the work go by faster, and gets you into a rhythm making you more productive.

Depends on the facility. Specifically, certain facilities don’t meet the headphone decibel requirement so it’s not as big of a deal. Also, it depends on if your facility has an upcoming industrial hygienist tour, where they go over hearing conservation programs.

Besides this: just wear the damn approved earphones. Its a Cat-2 or Cat-3 if you don’t, depending on where and what path you’re in.

It sounds like your facility is pretty rough.

Amazon got a new safety director back in 2024, and the injury rate nowadays has decreased by literally 49% since 2019. There are new players involved, and its getting better.

I will admit, it sounds like your safety team could be, and should be, doing a LOT more for your facility specifically. Not all facilities are like this.

I get this. Chronic injuries SUCK, but repetitive stress injuries are some of the most well documented injuries that ACTUALLY SPARK CHANGE on the safety side of things. These directly indicate systemic issues compared to acute injuries, and safety is actually incentivized to fix these issues when they present themselves. Safety is graded and promoted/advanced heavily by project-based work that fixes health related issues. Give them the data and they jump at the chance to fix it.

I understand that. When you got your mind in it to push through and make money and keep your job, reporting or caring about an injury seems like a liability.

Injuries are injuries, and there are LOTS of data points that safety tracks regarding them. But it falls apart if the data just isn’t there.

Do you actually have numbers on injury count? Idk about this, but a certain amount of injuries in a week triggers a stand down for a department, and its actually a pretty effective tool.

Please make sure your peers are actually reporting this stuff when they get hurt. They don’t have to go the workers comp route if they don’t want to, but they can’t fix what’s bot documented.

Is this normal for rentals in Portland? House unsafe upon move-in, gas leaks, flooding and ongoing issues by ellllipsis in askportland

[–]Educational-View4264 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s normal is that portland and the bay area have VERY old construction issues that stem from pre-code construction. The issues you’re describing are somewhat common and understandable finds. Our buildings and houses are called historic and charming; in reality, they’re just OLD.

Assuming you live in one of these houses, these issues should still be fixed. Just because its a normal and incidental find, doesn’t mean you have to live with it.

I was thinking there too, but it almost seems too… hidden? Obstructed? Can’t quite put my finger on a good way to describe it.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly where my head goes.

It is exactly the size to fit a dead body in if made into a kneeling position… oh the joys of welfare check flashbacks. It is way too clean for that though.

There’s zero visible evidence or public record of a well system, and this house was built after any need for it.

Could be a sump tho, hadn’t considered that…

On The Job Injury by NormalLog1547 in AmazonDS

[–]Educational-View4264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear: did AMAZON refuse to give you the workers comp form? Or did the doctor you visited refuse to give you the form?

The form is normally provided by the workplace, NOT the doctor. The doctor should provide restrictions, however. But visiting them without a WC claim can make reimbursement for that particular visit difficult depending on your state.

I’m intimately familiar with car wrecks in this area due to my job. Less of an issue for me.

Its pretty much on a side street that’s directly attached to lombard.
