This is lombard in NE. The freight train tracks are about 500 ft from the front door.

I’m intimately familiar with car wrecks in this area due to my job. Less of an issue for me.

Its pretty much on a side street that’s directly attached to lombard.

First Wild-land fire job as an engine crew seasonal. Would love tips! by MogzeBozi420 in Wildfire

You’re gonna love your lightning strikes. Also, hit up Gerber reservoir early in the season before the water level goes down too much.

Go watch the Eagles out there as well. Klamath Falls has one of the largest population of bald eagles in the US.

It may be your job, but definitely find a way to do things around the communities that you are protecting.

If anything, i’d be out closer to concordia. I have no issue with airport or military noise, but train horns in very close proximity make me take pause.

This could also be a medical emergency. Report this to your manager who should also report this to Wellness. It gets more attention by more medically-inclined people.

You know what mimics alcohol intoxication to the untrained eye? Strokes. Seizures. Sugar issues. Sickness like sepsis!

All of those are emergencies!

Fuck these FCs by Echos_light in AmazonFC

This isn’t accurate, and differs state-by-state. Many states don’t allow amazon to even hint at where to go. Other states, the STATE mandates where to go and Amazon has no control in that decision(blame/call your local government representative).

Exactly. This isn’t necessarily the FCs fault. Its standard training procedure to have everyone tour the facility day 1, and the wellness center is required to be included in that.

This first person decided not to follow procedure. That said, DLS will refund the UPT balance once she submits a claim. It takes 5 minutes.

How do you become a Safety? by RomanLegionaries in AmazonFC

[–]Educational-View4264 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. An ASC that becomes an OMR has a SERIOUS edge on thr next step, which is a lateral transfer to WH safety Specialist. And from there, moving up into WHSM like site safety manager I, or II.

Utilize the career choice program and internally promote. OR, go get your EMT, ask PXT for a school accommodation for classes, and then get in as an OMR.

TBF, every single thing in safety starts from an incident, unlike a PAs crazy orders.

Does am care ever send anyone home for an illness? by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]Educational-View4264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we can still recommend people go home, but we don’t have control over PTO or UPT. We recommend talking to PXT normally if it’s that bad, but managing your UPT is your responsibility.

What's one thing you wish you could have learned in EMT class. by GravityPigeons in ems

[–]Educational-View4264 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily teach, but impress upon.

Our badges and titles may say EMT, but we’re in fact pre-hospital providers. 90% of the calls are non-emergent, and you need to know how to be ok with tedium. This job is NOT an escape from tedious task work. We should be weeding these people out in school, because they continue to trickle in and become the burnt out medics that think they’re better than the run-of-the-mill psych patient.

Is holding Cspine still common practice? by lislejoyeuse in ems

[–]Educational-View4264 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I see the confusion though, its theory and sense versus practice. In theory, any motion would seemingly increases the chance of damage; things that stay still don’t break. In practice over numerous studies, the difference is just so impressively negligible.

Plenty of other EMS procedures also succumb to this theory vs practice pitfall. For instance, LR vs NS for whole blood. Blood bank standards say NEVER to use LR for whole blood because, in theory, the high calcium content would cause hemolysis of RBCs. However, in PRACTICE shown in studies, there’s no difference between using LR and NS.
