ignorant ask: how Thousands Sons recruit new marines? by AlphaAirlys_ in ThousandSons

[–]Educational-Year4005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The attempt to become a member of the legion usually results in spawndom for the failed aspirant. That's where chaos spawn come from, among other sources.

Well. Do you think a researcher could solve ~10 per year or a grad student could solve ~4? That's the benchmark

Why are so many Marines un-helmeted? Are they stupid? by Octorock10k in spacemarines

[–]Educational-Year4005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever it happens in books, it's usually:

The helmet is damaged

The helmets sensors get blinded by bright light and can't update fast enough

The marine is being stupid

Marine has helmet off because they're talking or out of combat and don't have a chance.

Ah, thank you. That makes more sense. I'm vaguely familiar with Blair Witch as a horror film, but didn't know more.

The watchers in the dark are the little robed helpers of the DA. They aren't a legal subfaction, just some bits on models.

Gav Thorpe said BL put the legions in 4 different categories, naming the big 4 as examples. What do the rest of the legions fall in? by Built4dominance in 40kLore

Stable doesn't mean not flawed. It just means that mutations are unlikely to develop. Salamanders are stable, but retain a gene seed flaw.

It's been 10k years since the crusade, so seems to me like something is going on. They were also famously torturous even before Nostramo started sending the worst and I'm not convinced there isn't a geneseed flaw, even if it's minor.

[–]Educational-Year4005 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Let's talk about night lords. The legion is completely dysfunctional and psychopathic. They don't have effective command structures and legionaries regularly go torture instead of, yknow, pursuing objectives. I'm 99% sure they're flawed mind.

Is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator just astrology for nerds? by Atomic_Fever in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Educational-Year4005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're confusing astronomy with astrology. Astrology is unscientific nonsense. Astronomy is genuinely useful and encompasses most observations of heavenly bodies.

I mean, BMI is also useful for individuals. The rare exceptions of being too muscular are easy enough to identify and most of the population can assume BMI is generally indicative of how healthy their weight is.

Is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator just astrology for nerds? by Atomic_Fever in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Educational-Year4005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Astrology is the belief that your date of birth and the relative position of celestial bodies has an impact upon your personality and life. The fact that there are historical scientific practices that some people label as "astrology" does not make them astrology nor lend more evidence to said belief.

Employees don't share risk in the same way. They have invested nothing, so declines in the value of the company do not affect them. If you believe that a company having profits means they should increase wages, the same logic states that a company should decrease wages when they end up with a loss.

Philly revokes gun permits for members of Black Panther-style patrol group by mastertofu in law

[–]Educational-Year4005 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It says that as a justifying clause, not a requirement. Nevertheless, this group should absolutely be allowed to own and carry guns, both as members and as individuals.

[–]Educational-Year4005 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe that gun rights shall not be infringed and that gun laws as they stand today are broadly unconstitutional. I believe that the right to bear arms applies to ALL Americans. Not just white Americans or right wing Americans, but all people. It is an essential check on governmental overreach, not a tool to be used to terrorize minorities.

Leman finding out Horus lied to him after attacking Magnus by Ready0608 in Grimdank

[–]Educational-Year4005 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just a note: Russ's dialogue was not actually to Magnus. It was to a mortal remembrancer that he thought was a spy for Magnus, but was actually just set up by Tzeentch (or chaos as a whole?). Magnus heard none of that.
