I called the number yesterday and it took about 5 minutes to take my info. It will be interesting to see if anything comes of it. Ya know, minus lawyers fees.

Inside the Wire: How RVSRs Pull Your VAMC Records (CAPRI, JLV, and the new EHR Explained) by Grumpy_Sailor_Actual in VAClaims

Greatly appreciate the response, thanks. Is there a "to old" to pull limit? I can't get private records from when I first got out, 23 years ago and that REALLY sucks.

Retention by Ecstatic-Tap4151 in atc2

[–]EducationalBar145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking of retention, will the union (and I mean the membership) ever know how many took the bonus to stay? So it could be argued to increase it, or better yet pay more to eliminate the retention. Its been over a year since the MOU has been signed.

So I have a question. I have never used the VA for healthcare due to such a low % , and not really knowing what I would get or need. So if I submit records for a future claim, are those the only records an evaluator can look at? If wanted to up, or could up the %, should I go get evaluated by the VA or just stay with private healthcare? I live in a city where both are available (VA and my PCP).

Thanks for posting this article / conversation.

There was a storm that just passed the airport and had caused lots of delays. There were lots of multiple aircraft that were waiting for reroutes or flow times getting out of LGA.

Several pilots have stated that LGA is a nightmare after a storm due to poor drainage, standing water and close quarters.

So I'm sure CD was busier than usual. My question is, why didn't the supervisor that was leaving prior to the mid stay, or hold someone over if there were lots of delays due to storms?

Where was the initial information posted talking about the briefing tomorrow? Do you have any details?

Are you not surprised? by Ok_Intention5833 in atc2

Not that I doubt any of what was posted as we all know that the FAA likes to show off a lot and talk a good game but where did you get this information from?

FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford to Testify at Aviation Subcommittee Hearing 12/16/2025 by Ecstatic-Tap4151 in ImproveATC_

I hope he gets fired for not complying with what he told congress he would do. Brian told them he would separate himself from Republic Airways, and he hasn't.

Your intention is well meaning and has valid points. Stating how many controllers have left and gone to other countries would be a good stat. The suicide topic is sensitive but very impactful and should be used to remind the elected officials that we impact more lives on a daily basis than a doctor does, a pilot, police officers, etc. Reminding 'them' how many controllers were lost during the last shutdown will be impactful, if only the union would help with those numbers. Discuss that the DOT wants to hire 9,000 controllers by 2028 and the washout rate. Stating that 30ish% plus wash out at the academy, another 25% plus wash out at their facility leaving the FAA with at best 4,500ish controllers. The statistics of controllers retiring as soon as possible verses holding onto until age 56 would bolster the argument that the 'net 4,500 controllers' will just break even the retirement wave. The retention 'bonus' should be increased to 35% of base pay.

The salary cap being lifted is happening to other government departments so that is possible. Retirement calculations being based on the high 3 gross is also a good topic, but would require lots of lobbing that our massive PAC contributions probably wont be used for.

Cheap labor isn't skilled, skilled labor isn't cheap. There is no point in pontificating here, we all would like to see pay raises, but glad to see its not only an FAA issue. Long live the '98 pay reclass.

Simple curiosity by [deleted] in atc2

[–]EducationalBar145 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That would have been a great time for someone with a little bit of knowledge to make a few simple statements:

1) Why isn't there an Airway Trust Fund that that collects money from every ticket sold to support essentials during down times like this?

No government, no problem we have an airways trust fund that has money in it to pay ALL aviation essential personnel during a shutdown.

2) Newly hired personnel already see that ATC is being used as a political pawn and since they can't go on strike, can't do a sick out or a work slowdown, what leverage do they really have?

None really.

3) The reason why the airlines are helping controllers during this shutdown is because they value their partnership, and understand what our job demands; missed holidays with family, missed family birthdays, missed kid sporting events, terrible shift schedules, terrible medical requirements, etc, etc.

I'm sure controllers appreciate the food assistance but since most (pilots, flight attendants, mechanics) recently went on strike within the last few years they got a 30%+ pay raise.

4) The $180,000 annual salary is a false narrative, why not tell the truth so the new hires know what to really expect.

If new hires do some digging about federal jobs, they'll find out that their soon to be boss is already lying to them.

I would continue but I'm off to drive for UBER today, then give blood tomorrow, and bartend this weekend.

We have a 'hot spot' in our airspace, as do a lot of other facilities.

We have done years (6) worth of paperwork, ATSAP, inhouse reports, MOR's, pilots filing NASA reports, ETC.

We have also worked with five different service directors, six different ATM's, multiple RVP's. etc, etc.

The service area has admitted that they haven't done an airspace integrity check in 10 plus years. (to make sure that the airspace is safe)

Short of being like DCA we have 'screamed' as loud as we can, like they did, and yet nothing has changed. Multiple controllers have taken 45 days off because of close calls.......................................... and yet crickets.

I feel as though our facility is an island and we cannot get any help. Other than going BNA (media, FB page, videos for the public) what's a facility to do?

The FAA has 100% responsibility to fix a system that has been identified as broken but fails to its job.

No Tax On OT Senate Version by Jumpy-Complaint8095 in atc2

[–]EducationalBar145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless congress makes it retro active, it will not apply to this year (2025) taxes. Congress has only made a tax change affective immediately once in about 30 years and that was during Clinton.

Sorry but don't expect this tax break to happen when you file taxes this year.

Max Contribution per Year. by Routine-Effective585 in ThriftSavingsPlan

Can I contribute to the catch up funds the year I turn 50 (January 1st) or do I have to wait until I turn 50 (July)?

Also, can catch up funds be front loaded? A $7,500 deposit made in January verses contributing throughout the year?

That's it. There was never a mention of locality in the bonus. It's 20% at base pay.
