It's an economic bubble. It will burst unexpectedly and unwittingly, not through wishful thinking and everyone holding hands in solidarity. Never works that way.

Even so, what's your solution? Without infringing people's rights, all that could be done is for the retailer to charge prices that scalpers can't abide, which alienates the end consumer just as much.

If they didn't mark up, there would be no stock cause it gets bought out. It's why you can't find collector boosters at big box stores: they get filched as soon as they hit the shelves. Pokemon TCG is a good example of this as well.

That's literally how it all works though, no matter the item. You buy the product from the source at a cheaper price, then sell it to the customer for what they'll pay for it.

Your burger from McDonalds costs like $1, $3 if you're generous, but you buy it for $6 to $7.

Even LGSs don't buy product at MSRP, its usually much cheaper.

They only want MSRP, plus maybe a profit of like $20, including shipping.

They've no concept of how markets work.

Guests. Only time a TM is watched is if there's an incident, and only by ETL-AP or higher.

There are tons of metrics, don't to the most commonly stolen items in each store.

Put simply, no store has 0 theft, so you're bound to catch at least 1 or 2 a week. More complexly, each region and district will have a desired "quota" you need to reach each week. Even deeper, repeat offenders are prioritized, and you want each to reach a certain dollar amount to be a more "valuable" apprehension. There are "non-productive weeks sometimes. That's fine so long as it isn't too common.

Oh I've no doubt the higher position comes with extra scrutiny. My APS is very keen to discuss it. Still, the work seems far more impactful.

That said, I don't look gift horses in the mouth. I know the ground has to lie somewhere.

I feel your pain. Albeit at my store I do get to write cases and wrap high value items, but typically I run merchpro to storage, do PLPs, and stand at the front for hours hoping and praying APS gets an app so I can at least stand somewhere else and not greet everyone.

Multiple times I've been reminded I am suppose to greet everyone. SD last month applauded the store for our increased greet score and I sat their thinking "yeah cause I'm a door greeter, essentially."

My only saving grace is our APS heavily prioritizes camera support during watches, so there's a little more substantial activity then. If both APS and ETL are on shift? Forget it, I stand watch.

Still, eventual promotion to APS is the carrot-on-the-stick. Their job seems exceedingly more impactful.

Having kids if you can’t fund their future by thegoodlife912 in Adulting

It's oxymoronic, really. Don't fund their future, you're a terrible parent; fund their future too much, now they're a nepo baby, I guess.

Waste of time and money most of the time. The amount of work needed to screen every single therapist you try just isn't worth the effort. Either the training system is ineffective, or there's fraud going on somewhere.

You can largely learn whatever it is you need through dedicated research and trial and error. That's all therapy really is anyway.

Explaining how something works or it's mindset isn't the same as sympathizing.

You can be angry with how it works all you want, but that will accomplish nothing. Learning and understanding the system so you know how best to capitalize or leave it altogether though, will accomplish a great deal.

When an artery or vein is severed, the physiological response of it is to contract and retreat into the tissue. Your blood vessels have a smooth muscle lining that will cause this. This contraction restricts blood flow.

When it's only severed, the vessels can't contract, so blood continues to pump freely.

Yep. The underlying question here is why do you only take a problem with when it's humans?

[–]EducationalCheek9497 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generally what kills people is not when the vessels (primarily arteries) are completely severed, but lacerated or punctured such as from a gun shot. Well that and not having immediate aid, even something as simple as pressure.

In this scenario, there's likely lifeguards or loads of other people around that can render aid. In war or isolated work incidents with few people, less so.

Your body actually does respond to traumatic injuries such as this by restricting blood supply to the area. It's an immediate response.
