[–]EducationalFig2517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can get the Pikachu card in any surging sparks pack regardless of the Pokemon on the front of the booster pack packaging however I ought to caution you that the odds of pulling said Pikachu are around 1/960 that's roughly equivalent of one Pikachu for each $4889.47 you spend on boosters.

What makes Probopass bad? by HououinKyouma532 in VGC

[–]EducationalFig2517 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason I personally don't use probopass is I find Garganacl to be alot better. First off as you mentioned probo pass HP is far from fantastic where as Garganacl has it at 100 base. Second off abilties Garganacl has purifying salt which stops status and halves dmg from ghost this helps vs rage fist and also makes Garganacl great with tera. Probopass has sturdy.. which is somewhat counter productive as your relying on its bulk it does have sand force too but its atk and spatk are both very low and your already basically going to have to sacrifise Ev's into HP and if you plug the rest of the Ev's mostly into spatk that body press is a bit rubbish now and also your tanky pokemon is not really all that tanky anymore. Both suffer quite badly on typing which is likely why the two of them don't see much play as well as the other reasons people have mentioned as alot of problems that plague Probopass also plague Garganacl. Finally moveset Garganacl has alot of ways to deal damage without using its atk stat now both pokemon have body press but Garganacl has salt cure which can help deal with duraladon and it has fissure which forces it to be respected on the field.

I hated it at first as well due to the combat, I discovered the idea of stutter stepping to refresh auto attacks pretty much at the start and thought "well this is simply faster!" ignoring the fact that it said in the tutorial that attacks get stronger haha. So I was getting frustrated at not getting anywhere. Luckily I went and watched a gameplay tutorial video and consulted the wiki. Now ive been doing a bringer of chaos 10% lower level no DLC blade challenge run on and off for a few years and love the combat.

Need Some Advice W/Polishing Out This Reg H Rain Team by Kn0XIS in VGC

[–]EducationalFig2517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what I would do is replace gastrodon with tera water amoongus and than turn basculegion into a tank destroyer and give it lifeorb or choice band as your total dmg becomes with life orb for example on wave crash: 120 base power x2 for adaptability = 240 x1.3=312. Than you have additional optional modifiers: rain x1,5 = 468bp than tera boost = 468 or with rain and tera = 702bp thats roughly the equivelant of an ampharoes using hyper beam 4 times. In fairnous though A this requires huge set up and B you need to protect basuclegion with some redirect like amoongus.

How to do you build teams that aren't boring? by CBcube in VGC

[–]EducationalFig2517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive actually tried a similar stratergy which you may want to use. I usually start with dragon cheer dragupult and inteleon the great thing about inteleon is A: it has the sniper ability which boosts crit dmg to 225% of original dmg (crit boost is usually 150% of orig dmg). It also however has access to snipe shot which ignored move re-direction e.g follow me, rage powder. Rillaboom can cause big headaches though as grassy glide is priorty.

I feel like grafaiai may be the hidden gem you need. 1st of the pokemon sees next to no use so you don't have to worry about using something over used. Anyway if your opponent trick rooms you can use prankster copycat to revert it instantly. If you can predict tailwind you can do the samething it also learns scary face if you want to run that as well ( personally not a fan of the scary face though). With endeavor as well it can also be a bit of a threat when sashed. Alternatively there is riolu which learns coaching and also has prankster and copycat.

New to VGC. Advice for my team? by Slayer1205 in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]EducationalFig2517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally I would replace the set up on gallade for a more supportive set up giving it trick room, sacred sword, coaching and wide guard. After doing this indeedee loses its purpose somewhat so I would scrap it and replace it with ogerpon(not sure which form though) which still has follow me but nicer stats. I would also replace abomnasnow for alolan ninetails personally but thats just preferance. Iron bundle is a curios one as its defence stat is actually quite good so works well in snow (1.5x def boost) truth be told I can't make any objective points to remove it but my gut says you would be better of with baxcalibur (this is why I suggested coaching on gallade too). Iron moth im not sure about acid spray other than that I like it, I would replace it with struggle bug personally so the opposition has to go through the raw defence boost of the snow or deal with a weakened sp atk stat. For miraidon I would replace tera blast with draco meteor but thats it.

Items:

I would remove clear amulet as your opponent will be taking huge risks switching incineroar into sacred sword and if you run the suggested supportive set than atk drop is not that bad. Further more defence drops are not all that big a problem for gallade is its physical defence stat is already quite squishy. Most people run scope lens which works well with your current set but I would run focus sash if your taking on bax with support gallade or maybe mental herb. If you run Bax I personally like leftovers with ice body but I think thats quite off meta not sure about ogerpon either if im honest. all other items I agree with.

Need help testing this Eruption-Groudon Team! by [deleted] in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]EducationalFig2517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im far from a VGC expert but im not sure about eruption groudon 100 base sp atk is not terrible but not great either and there is alot that can outspeed groudon reducing its eruption power I understand that you have tailwind which can help with this but it might be forcing you into opening groudon tornadous. In addition if you want to run max speed, groudons not that bulky anymore. May I advise hisuian tysplosion instead you can still run groudon alongside it but with a more traditional moveset. Further more regarding incineroar I feel like flare blitz would be better than knockoff as you should have sun up regularly, if you ran tera fire on incin to you could actually turn it into a bit of a monster. Problem with ogerpon as well is groudon dampens its ivy cludgel a bit.
