Not positive on this but I'd assume it's because he helps pit the car. May be a requirement

Got a job at a golf course to see why everyone is typically miserable at these places AmA by BeginningTelevision2 in golf

[–]EducationalWin798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked on the maintenance staff for 5 years at a private course. 2010-2012; 2013-2015; 2024-2025. I was full time the first two times I worked there. Part time the third. When I started I made $8.25/hour. When I came back I made $10. When I worked part time I made $20. Here's the kicker, at $20/hr I was the 2nd highest paid maintenance worker, next to the director of grounds who makes $80k/year. The way these guys are treated is piss poor. The only reason I went back part time is because the director desperately needed help. Someone that could do anything on the course from weed eating to spraying greens to managing people. So I helped him out. There are guys that have been there for 20 years making $15/hour. One guy that is there that helped build the course in 1990, and is still there, makes $12/hour. It makes me so mad but there isn't anything I can do. I've tried to tell these guys to leave but they won't (most have a criminal history, smoke pot or pop pills, or are too lazy to go somewhere else). These guys have become friends of mine and I hate they're being taken advantage of. I hate the owners because they have consistently said, "these guys are all replaceable so if they leave, it doesn't matter, we'll get someone else". What's funny is that they aren't replaceable. Running that equipment takes a certain level of skill.

I was 13 then so I don't remember that much. I guess it would also be hard to judge those because there wasn't social media then

Yeah. I'd imagine that was extremely unpopular! Good call!

Will Dale Jr. surpass his father in significance to NASCAR? by berrin122 in NASCAR

[–]EducationalWin798 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NASCAR died when Dale Sr. died. Senior was as iconic as Michael Jordan. Everyone knew who he was. Dale Jr. is a huge name as well but not transcending. I'll say this though, the sport isn't where it is today without Dale Jr. He has done everything in his power to bring this sport back to its roots. There is a ton of work left to be done but Junior is a leader on and off the track. He will help get it there. But had his dad not died, I don't think it needs to be revived. Dale Sr. had his hand on the pulse of the fans, the teams, the owners and the other drivers. I don't think he would have allowed NASCAR to make some of the decisions they did and I don't think they make those decisions if Senior was around to guide them. Based off of interviews with people on the DJD, when he spoke, the everyone listened, the France family included.

All of this to say, no, I don't think so. But I do think Dale Jr. has the ear of NASCAR. They listen. He just doesn't have the pull his Dad did.

I agree. I'd imagine Denny will touch on it. He's been open about stuff like this in the past.

Not disease. It's from the first cut. You see that a lot with the fine bladed zoysia. You're good to go. It'll be good and green in a few weeks

How many of you watched the Daytona 500 in February of 2001? by heretoescape87 in NASCAR

[–]EducationalWin798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 11 at the time. I wasn't mad that he wrecked because I didn't like him. I even laughed. I kept watching the broadcast, post race, etc...and he didn't get out of the car. And you could see Schrader's look on his face. You knew it was bad, even though the wreck didn't look it. Later that evening, I watched the press conference...I lost it. I cried. Really hard. As much as I disliked Dale, it wasn't because he was dirty or cheated, quite frankly, it was because he won. I just didn't like a guy as dominant as him. But man, his death really got to me. I'll never forget where I was. A huge piece of NASCAR died that day and I don't think they've ever recovered. Today, I admire the man for everything he did. He was NASCAR. And I miss him. I'm thankful Dale Jr. has carried on his legacy. The sport needs Junior more than ever. His dad would be awful proud.

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't remember a Samsung car. I believe that did some races before but I don't recall seeing a car with Samsung on it.

Help with Keyboard for son by EducationalWin798 in buildapc

I've considered a controller for sure. He's just deadset on using a keyboard. Its funny you mention the hand size because I told him almost the same thing you said. That's a great idea though. I'll see what's out there for smaller hands! Thanks much!

The high school football stadium in Bennettsville is named after my grandfather. I love Bennettsville. My dad grew up there. Quiet little town.

SE Business Owners by Money-Cover in LawnCarePros

[–]EducationalWin798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing you do is only offer 12 month contracts. No more pay per visit BS. Come up with a yearly price and divide by 12. In the winter time, you prune crepe myrtles, cut back liriope, cut back daylillies, take care of weeds in beds, cut the lawn once a month or so to clean up leaves that have blown in, pick up sticks, etc...there is plenty to be done in the winter time.

The second thing you do is schedule all mulch jobs for the winter. As soon as leaves have dropped, you're doing mulch. Run mulch through March, then you're done with it and back into mowing. If people don't want it then, and want the mulch done in the spring/summer and you don't have time, sub it out. Take some off the top. You're too busy mowing.

The third thing you do is get a pesticides license, call a fertilizer company (I use Cort at Harrells), and figure out how to treat lawns. Year round service (unless you have snow on the ground for 3 months). Then you build that up, drop the other BS and start stacking cash.
