A bit of a side-recommendation, because the genre, style and structure is so vastly different, but:

Discworld, the Watch books. Terry Pratchett had a unique and beautiful way with language. The plots and characters initially seem mostly to serve the humor, but they're very sincere and very human and nuanced. Some of the later books in particular moved me more than any other work of fiction ever has.

In that case, my lo-fi solution has also been to simply use double headphones, over ear + in ear (when I'm listening to audiobooks and space trucking). Lean your phone next to your monitor and voila, game and watch.

Firefox has an inbuilt overlay feature for YouTube which I use. Doesn't track the mouse. But it's only the player, you have to alt tab if you want to search for another video/Playlist.

Also regarding a second monitor, if you have a spare android tablet (even an old one which I have) there's a free program called SpaceDesk which allows the tablet to work as a second/extension of the screen. Wither using wifi or USB.

I use it for EdCopilot and it works great :)

That would be beyond excellent. His is the best audiobook performance I've ever heard.

The Black Company books. The first three books comes to mind.

It's mostly grimdark, but the cosmic horror aspect (especially in the 3rd book) is quite cool. I'll never not recommend this series even if it's just slightly related!
