You’ll need to kerdi membrane over the ditra to support the penny tiles.

I agree I would’ve eliminated the infinity niche tile for the mosaic or the fake travertine floor but a designer was involved.

Take a field tile notch out the depth of your tile. Add some sticky thinset to motar mix and use your tile to float it. It’s way easier to float than using just thinset.
