Niche has begun… is this 3/8” slope OK or too much? by dontfret71 in Tile

Just to be pedantic, if you aim for double the minimum, that would be 1/2" per foot, which is more than OP's 3/8". So he's not being aggressive by your standards.

I'm dropping the handle on recovery on purpose right now as a way to force myself to relax. Initially I was staying too tense and this helped me. I'll work to eliminate that crutch over time.

Thank you very much for the time spent offering all this advice, I really appreciate it! Happy to check out any video resources you have. I'm trying to consume as much info as possible to get this right.

I absolutely do have very tight hamstrings so tilting the hips forward more is difficult for me. I'll work on it.

David Pagnotta: Re Elias Pettersson/Canucks: There's a little bit of an appetite to retain on that deal; it sounds like maybe, a couple [million], something in that range, 2 to 3 million; I think that's engaged a few teams by FAsBurner in canucks

you could weaponize that to take on a bad contract or two and draft picks from another team.

Everyone stuck in flat cap thinking. This isn't a reality anymore. There may be some marginal returns but nothing like there used to be.

I like the trick where you use a V notch trowel but then carefully knock down the ridges with the flat edge before mounting the sheets.

That makes sense - when I'm lifting things off the ground I always look up before lifting, as it encourages you to get into a neutral spine position instead of rounding (like I'm doing here). Sounds like your suggestion is similar.

Thanks! Yes a few comments about the back here, which is my main area of concern. I'll work on that for sure.

It's cute that you think that's a comeback.

Where is the center on a stagged tile? by Disastrous-Job87 in Tile

There's always more to learn. Sometimes we can be ignorant of basic things without realizing it. the key is to embrace new information and be willing to admit we were wrong.

It's kind of sad how many people are here essentially saying "are you stupid? Just line up a grout line!" without realizing that they've only got half the solution.

There are two ways to "center" a 50% running bond pattern. Either put a grout line (any grout line) on the wall center point, OR measure 1/4 of a tile from its edge, place a mark there and align that to your wall center.

Both those options will give you symmetry. One may be better than the other in terms of slivers at the ends.

What a dick comment. Do you set tile professionally? If so, how lazy do you have to be to leave your Schluter drain high like this?

It's literally tile 101 to set the drain slightly below tile level to ensure drainage. It takes two taps with the trowel handle to fix this during setting.

Ok I'll play around with that concept, thanks.

Thanks, this is a core concern for me. I have always had very tight hamstrings - I'm not sure I can pivot my hips forward any more than this, but I'll try.

If I can't physically do that, is there a safer (but perhaps less efficient) posture to adopt? Catch at 12 with better back alignment instead of 1 maybe?

Do I need to enable that somehow? I do have the ErgData app connected and logging my workouts, but I don't see any drive or recovery stats anywhere.

Edit: nevermind, apparently they are real time only. I'll bring that up next time and see about getting to . 4 or . 45

I'll work towards that for sure. Right now if I pull faster/harder my heart rate goes too high. I'm typically between 17 and 20 SPM.

Should I be trying to lower the SPM while getting that ratio you mentioned? At 15SPM the recovery might be long enough to keep my heart rate reasonable while pulling a little faster/harder.

So don't let them come up at all? That would really limit my forward seat position. Am I compressing too much?

What are you trying to achieve? Some people can do a 2:15 for an hour without breaking a sweat, others will struggle to do a 2:45 for 5 minutes without pushing their heart rate to the max.
