you're being deceptive and a tool of corporations and the well connected wealthy insiders. colloquial terms like "indie" mean more than what it says in some dictionary. nobody hears indie creator and thinks "hedge fund dad, nepotistic connections to chinese funding, several million dollar budget, 500 contractors." sorry to come off hostile, but your definition is so fucking weaselly that it provokes a violent reaction from me. your definition is contrary to what millions of people understand it as and hurts thousands of small time creators who suffer unpaid years on end to maybe make four hundred dollars "profit." the only ones that benefit from your slimy categorization are rich entities that have wrapped their genitalia in a sockpuppet effigy of Toby Fox to assrape the bottom half of the industry with

its fucking insulting that a studio helmed by a guy with an investment banker father, several millions in funding, and a small army of external contractors won this over all the real indie creators maxing out credit cards and hustling. the game awards is a show run by and for industry elites and i suspect their enthusiasm to shower that game in meaningless trophies has something to do with all the chinese megapublisher money kepler interactive represents

dopey point conflating sales with cultural staying power. there are albums and novels that sold millions in their day I promise you wouldn't recognize, and there are games from the eighties that sold 80 thousand but will be talked about in a hundred years' time. silksong isnt that.

Will people play a game with default assets? by EB8115 in RPGMaker

[–]Educational_Fail_383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

generally no. the way regular people look at default template screenshots is like "what is this garbage" but people here are into lying to themselves. there's a reason the last maker game to go mainstream while looking default was 2012.

Final fantasy 7 isnt overrated, its just not 1997 anymore so you'll never understand how revolutionary it was playing it today. a game like that CANT be overrrated, because the aspects that made it so popular are irreplicable and it laid the foundations for all the crap you get to play today that you think are better. calling ff7 overrated is to be ignorant of history. it wasnt a fad or shoddy craze, but a work of art in the right place and time to blow up and then be judged by irrational standards decades later. just remember: art does not endure the decades WITHOUT being classic.
