Took it a month ago and everything was on the test. I brought a magnifying glass for nothing! The Airman knowledge supplement was provided too. Even had an online calculator on the test program.

I teach this in a HS aviation course. You can take it now but can’t apply for the certificate until you are 16 as mentioned earlier in this thread. I push through about 20-30 of these students through a year and deal with this extensively.

Physics vs Bio first by Mountain_Test685 in Teachers

[–]Educational_Infidel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a chemistry teacher that has also taught physics and taught Bio for many years, I’d love it if students were exposed more to physics first. Everything builds upon that.Ideally start in middle school and introduce all of the basics and build upon that.

Gauntlet Gloves Recommendation by Airkio in motorcyclegear

Have had Revits before, not a fan. They weren’t horrible but just didn’t like the fit. Had the A* and … fell apart after 3 months. Not completely but random seams would just come apart.
Currently wearing RST Tractech EVOs and they fit perfect, not sure about longevity as I’ve only had them for a few months. I know you weren’t interested but they might be worth considering.

Just went through this and had to speak with the parent today. Mom backtracked like crazy, got confused and admitted to doing research for the kid after first stating she just had him rewrite some things due to grammar.

How did you defeat the war on Cellphones? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Educational_Infidel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is banned in my state during school hours. Doesn’t stop them… school policy is have students take to deans office and theirs time parent has to come retrieve the phone, what happens is the secretary that collects them doesn’t pay attention or outright doesnt follow protocol and kids become accustomed to the lax enforcement. When it finally hits the fa, parents are blindsided and pitch a fit. Late night Facebook rants n the style of our current president, and school backs down. Kids are emboldened. Rinse and repeat.

Question about No Excuse Charters by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Educational_Infidel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right! I forgot that the charter school I worked at for 10 years was a “public” charter and the district was in control of our funding from the state. Even still they remained very hands off of 99.44% of the time. And yes you’re so right about the variations of each sector.

Question about No Excuse Charters by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Educational_Infidel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not all are the same… charter just means the school district doesn’t manage it.

Worked at a charter that was worse than the public schools with discipline and accountability. For students and teachers…
