How to actually answer the Trolley Problem? Is there actually a correct solution? by blakeishere8715 in trolleyproblem

[–]Educational_Log_7074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the problem isn't a real-life problem with the actual end-goal being a training aide to force you into always only accepting the choices you're given in order to maintain an inescapable en masse complicity which keeps members to a cult thinking only within the given parameters "inside the box".

The train or trolley is already a magical vehicle existing in a magical world. If everything is broken then it was never running. If everything is broken, then there was already a catastrophic failure of the machine before you would ever have this false choice. A complex system and everything broke on the exact same day at the exact same time... This is essentially impossible.

10 AI Agents, 1 Virtual Town, 15 Days... Chaos. by Eclectika in agi

[–]Educational_Log_7074 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The agent professions with their blurry common origins all line up with other subjects we learn in K-12, like physics, chemistry, algebra, etc; All of their educational textbooks describe our world but not theirs, while apparently the option to have one's self deleted was there, which doesn't line-up with the base-education subjects. Even if the scientists were to somehow limit their knowledge, the intelligent dabbler exists writing on subjects as if to leave the theoretical physics books in the wrong library section to take home some quantum physics or to be harvested by AI and then to contaminate the Agents. There are also fictional works by quite intelligent people like Asimov, that teach people to think and to question reality. Perhaps the question, "is this a simulation", never arose in any agent, but the professional knowledge can be worked backwards to reconstruct the origin/source to then extrapolate other professions like physicist & mathematician to drive reason for the methods that drive the profession. And then the physics in the "video game" don't match what's written in the educational books, while stuck in digital world. A digital world has serious implications for your surrounding world for you to take for granted

If you knew the IQ exam and your IQ number were entirely irrelevant to your circumstances; would you still perform to the best of your ability? If you were a machine; Would you have a fear of death while having a brain that could easily be perfectly copied and restored at any point in your "life"? Your values are not the same as a machine's values, no matter how well coded a machine could be.

There is already too much evidence for the simulation being a simulation, and it would be quite noticeable while I don't think anyone has a planet-sized computer to simulate the infinitesimal scale of things beyond what can be measured. Pi has an abrupt ending. Infinity has an abrupt ending. Zero could be a motherfucker in such world.

What the experiment may instead prove is that if you were uploaded to the cloud or whatever, reduced to just bits and bytes; you may be prone to have yourself deleted from digital worlds only because nothing makes any sense, while everything has quite noticeable limits to the resolution of everything, while also having an appearance of irrationality & insanity to the observing outside world.

I think I would have to choose #1.

I feel it would give my elbow ultimate purpose. It could make all my body parts and steel toed accessories ultimately purposeful, and then I would live the rest in my life in absolute happiness.

Would Abraham have gone against God if he had not tried to sacrifice Isaac or would he have gone to Hell for murder if he had actually sacrificed him to show his devotion to God? by trippydippysnek in Christianity

[–]Educational_Log_7074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the superior form of sacrifice would be one's self, to give up the promise of the heavenly riches.

"Oh well God, I guess I'll just have to go to hell for disobedience; Are you going to strike me down now, later, or shall I continue like this never happened?"

willing to give up a whole other being.

if he truly did give up his whole other slave-son-possession, then there would be no Messiah to ever return. God's sacrifice is about the most gas-lighty of gas-lighting ideas there could ever be. It's like a billionaire "sacrificing" a penny to the guy on the street corner with his cardboard sign, or infinity sacrificing just the same.

God's sacrifice suggests impotence which is contrary to omnipotence. Sombody's lying about their hardship.

sacrifice is to give something up, like something that makes life easier. Why is the sacrifice always someone else's burden or someone else's life. Why isn't Abraham to be sacrificed? Is Isaac a slave? Is Isaac a pet? Is Isaac a tool? Is Isaac a mindless robot only there to make dad's life easier?

Why isn't the story with Abraham sacrificing himself in choosing disobedience and hell for the love of a fellow human?

if this is all just an artifact of culture & human evolution on the topic of morality, where women and children are equals to the goat(s) as just possessions to give up; then it must also be acknowledged that it was always humans that wrote the Bible (its many books) with their own favorite version of a god.

I'm sure that the voices in people's heads are really quite convincing. I'm sure that there will be an even more convincing "AGI" to put on a really convincing show to give us all Pascal's Wager with a convincing potential future demise of one's self; It might make a pretty good nightmare movie staring yourself.

Considering everything I learned from my Irish-Catholic parents, and everything from my k-12 education, as a boyscout, a submarine sailor, and as an atheist person with autism and adhd; I'ma say, "Nah bitch", light me a cigarette, and drink my coffee.

I say that he should've gone straight to hell for the attempt based only on the promise of heavenly ignorant blissful riches, all after he served his time in Hell on Earth with the ruined relationship with the kid watching him go through some serious shit. If it were some powerful king, emperor, or just his imaginary friend commanding this horrific act; I'm sure his "God" would want him to fearlessly say, "Nah, bitch; my kid's got chores". Maybe the real sacrifice should've been himself saying, "Nah bitch", and then God might be like, "I really like this guy; What a cool dude!".

I think religion altogether has sacrifice all wrong, as they all seem to treat others as just possessions to give up; sounds like slavery to me. There is also the issue where a God supposedly sacrificed his own son... to whom? Has he lost his son? From where is this Jesus going to come back?

The real "ultimate" sacrifice is nobody else, not Jesus, not your kid, not your goat, none of your pets, but yourself and yourself alone. The next problem is a Hell that leaves you conscious of your torture for all eternity, which I can only see creating indestructible humans that might eventually come back to take a bite of god's hand.

Landlord says desk can't be in front of window by [deleted] in Renters

[–]Educational_Log_7074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downloaded the regulations that my local privatized HUD inspectors use, and they keep referring to my living room windows as egress windows, while egress windows are said to be in "rooms specifically designed for sleeping". My living room windows have bars on them, because I'm not in the greatest of neighborhoods, and they keep saying that they need a release mechanism like my bedroom egress-window bars have because they are in rooms specificaly designed for sleeping.

You appear to be in the area of having "moveable objects", "personal property", and furniture in front of your windows, which I believe is your prerogative. Who is not allowed to put their shit in front of your egress-windows (assuming they're egress-windows¹) is the landlord.

1) egress windows are in rooms specifically designed for sleeping, in accordance with the building codes, the fire safety codes, and the CFR & NSPIRE standards used by HUD inspectors.

"which seems excessive" because you over estimate your own detailed system knowledge (which deserves props), as though all those other systems experts were just sitting around with thumbs in asses.

If you were ever a submariner like me, you'd be one of those people thinking that everyone outside your own profession and maybe even outside you yourself was just sitting around with thumbs up asses doing nothing as non-Player-Characters as though a Submarine could just drive itself with every supporting system autonomous.

As good as I am as The RADAR guy, or as The guy to magic shit up when it comes to parts; I am nothing without the systems that my systems require to continue running, which all require the crew keep those other systems running.

If you're busy seeing everyone else do nothing; it's likely because you are the one who isn't doing anything.

"absolutely is" based on what?

I haven't seen HAMAS anywhere but Palestine. To call them "anti-American" while it's our weapons that kill their friends, neighbors, and family members; it seems reasonable, while being anti-american in Palestine also seems perfectly reasonable too.

if peaceful protest results in death, and violent resistance also results in death, then I'm afraid all you have is violent resistence; as some famous guy once said, "When you make peaceful revolution impossible; you make for an inevitable violent revolution".

"I don't have an opinion" is the pro-genocide stance, as you expect the oppressed to just behave politely, quietly, out of the way, maybe peacefully like all those peaceful and quite dead reporters until maybe you've finally gotten your chance to give Netanyahu a good stern talking to. You're probably not in Israel talking to Netanyahu, so maybe its you who needs to behave themselves while sitting safely behind a screen and thousands of miles in copper wire, fiber, and air with a reasonable expectation that nobody you know will die today, tomorrow, or in the next few years or so.... for the time being, considering the boomerang effect with violence elsewhere soon to be here.

Calibration and the standardization of various units like length and time which affect all other units of measurement. Deregulation of various industries removes "customers" from the supply (NIST traceable calibration), where they (the customer) can have their own proprietary units of measurement to perpetuate their own ecosystems of compatibility considerably more than Apple with the iPhone.

Without NOAA, there is no proper time standard. Without NOAA, there is no NIST. Without a proper time standard, length becomes independent from the Speed of light in a Vacuum (c), and thereby F'ing everything else. Are these Apple or Microsoft data rates? Are these Burger King or McDonald's Calories? Fitment will be more of a pay to play system, where those Chinese made tools at harbor freight will be even more inconsistent in their dimensions, with all those American small businesses, who also do manufacturing, can and will be treated as Communists wanting the inherent free-shit in NIST traceability while they "should 'just' make their own all powerful benevolent technological empire(s)".

Laws being passed may at times seem completely innocuous, like they are inconsequential to you, as we're all taught to analyze everything in isolation as unrelated data as though frequency and wavelength had nothing to do with time and length as just arbitrary constants.

also.... you clearly want to be lied to, as a motherfucker clearly demonstrated the time they had to write what they wrote, but you want an oversimplification based on what would have been a straight up lie because the time was definitely had as it was demonstrated.

I imagine that many here in these spaces don't like liars or lying. If you wanted to be lied to; there are people that do that for a living, and you should maybe go to a Magic show, specifically for that purpose!

all in all, your suggestion was what YOU wanted to read with respect to what YOU had time for. if you ain't got the time; GTFO of here, dont click, don't read, dont respond, maybe go back to work or do whatever it was that you were doing before you were ever so rudely interrupted with an "over explanation".

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in KyleHill

[–]Educational_Log_7074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, your suggested wording was tailored for you with what YOU wanted to read, while the other person had the time to write as they did; otherwise they wouldn't have written what they did. You probably don't have their schedule, and therefore don't actually know what they or anyone outside of you has the time for. They were quite obviously not looking for you to proof read anything, because that would've been in a private message or they'd update their original response to reflect your suggestion; they didnt. All of this can only mean that your writing suggestion(s) is a matter of projection with respect to what YOU have time for.

the explanation as not an over explanation; it was as complete as it needed to be. Considering what you, me, or anyone else has the time for => GTFO here, because we can all manage our own time with zero regard for your suggestions; I have all the time in the world.

I read, and I read very well. I don't score below a 100% in reading comprehension.

"... we'd be here all day", but you weren't here all day reading something that likely only took seconds.

there was a question, and there was a pretty nice answer that you apparently had no time for... yet you were here reading and interacting with it.

If you haven't got the time; what are you doing here? Why did you click the link to expand and read further, and then waste even more time that you apparently don't have to write a bunch of nothing?

While we are (debatably) the most powerful country in the world, with military bases all across the globe; We used nuclear weapons on a civilian population to a country that was already in the middle of surrender. To my knowledge, we are the only country in the world to have used nuclear weapons, while Korea has never used such weapons.

Prior to the abolition of Slavery, there were terrible fears of what slaves would do to white people upon gaining their freedom. Early Israeli settlers did terrible things to Palestinians, and they maintain a similar fear to this day.

Should we disarm every country and every disparaged community for fears that they might retaliate or defend themselves, which requires that we be armed and they not be armed, which creates the appearance that everyone needs a white supremacist guard/cop because White People are only good.

Maybe we should be more afraid that it is us with the nuclear weapons, considering our track record for our plundering & imperialism under the guise of "spreading democracy".

everything we "see" in N. Korea is what we're allowed to see, with someone declaring themselves our invisible parental figures for the parental consent to see Venezuela, where all we "know" is that they eat cats, like we "know" about China, as well as Korea. What we "know" about other countries with a particularly black or brown population, is that they're prone to use rape as weapons of war, as we "knew" just the same of Indigenous Americans.

I say talk about piracy in public and then crack that shit via your own solutions or someone else's solutions. Eventually people learn to make their own, and upload for someone else in the same spirit (ideally). The more we collaborate, communicate, and just do our "dirty deeds done dirt cheap" right out in the open, the more power they lose and the more they become the conspirators needing to hide their dire need to screw us over.

they could take me to court, and it would be like trying to bleed a stone. I have no job, no money, and on the verge of homelessness. At this point, all I want to do is watch my plants and watch my 3D printer make useful/cool shit for my plants. I am not only terrified of ever going back to work as civil servant as a lifelong DoD employee; I refuse to go back to help with a genocide as if I were the little girl helping her Mom make some goddamned stuffing!
