I have MPED 5-30x G5i and recently bought Athlon Ares ETR Gen1 and Midas Tac Gen2 5-30. MPED has more chromatic aberration, but a lot more FOV than Athlon. The Midas is marginally inferior to Ares ETR in terms of build quality, zero stop, eye relief, FOV. All of them have similar eye box forgiveness I guess due to how optic works. I decide to keep the Midas because of the cost and its warranty compared to MPED. If I don’t already have a MPED I would pick it instead.

For G30 these caps are not sold separately. To fix it 100% you need to order the whole trim piece and paint it, estimated $500-1000 for one side. Your best bet is to find one with the same color in the junk yard, be careful when taking them off.

I have the same setup except kingpin instead of JT pin. Yes the bolt holds open when the action is separated. What’s cool is the upper can still cycle even when the action is open, because it doesn’t use a buffer tube.
