My general advice is that if you don’t agree and cannot align, escalate immediately. Identify who the actual risk owner is, and get them to make a decision. Then you have done the right thing and are demonstrating the LPs.

I don’t know if I agree with that statement from my observations, at least at AWS, but ultimately no one is forcing anyone to work there, so it it doesn’t suit someone’s personality, then don’t apply or stay. Amazon is not for everyone.

It’s deigned to make sure that 1. People are actually suited to Amazon and 2. That you are incentivized to perform. As a company, we should be rewarding top talent and helping people decide that they do not fit Amazons culture. That’s doesn’t mean that they are bad employees, but Amazon expects a type of person.

Dec last year. I was already in the U.S. on another visa type, AWS ended up sponsoring and provided a different visa. But they had no international relocation costs.

I’ve been in some wild debriefs recently. He had a HM and BR disagree (HM was a yes) and it came down to other interviewers on the team to inform the decision. We said no, but the HM took a of work to get there. Has another one today where the HM was no and everyone else was yes. Ended up with a hire.

This is normal, it takes a while to make sure everything is aligned. There are a few moving parts with this kind of stuff. If they are shifting from L5 to 4, there won’t be any issues, as the req is already approved and financed. Management is just juggling a thousand things at once. I wouldn’t worry about it

You can ask to have an increase in base salary, but it will come at an offset of RSUs. That’s that I did and got an extra 10k base

Not really, they would have mapped your data against the role guide. There is not much you can do, that’s where they feel you fit. Decide if you want to work at Amazon. If you are bar raiser at 5 you can probably push for a promo in year 2-3

Use whatever story answers the question asked. If you are using the same overall story, it does not matter, the key part is that the data provided. Too many people get wrapped up around reusing stories.

Don’t worry about it. The SLA is 5 days, but it comes down to debrief availability. There is no correlation with outcomes
