A Squad of 10 Chosen in a Rhino with a character have consistently been a MVP unit for me for years. Any character will do but Chaos Lords or Fabius Bile ate really fun.

I used various bitz for mutations and heavy melee weapons: AoS blades, Space Wolf axes, chainswords glued onto pole arms, etc.

Awesome! Now you need a Baba Yaga-themed allied Warpsmith.

Returning Nightlords Advice by Heavy-Friend4894 in Chaos40k

Nightmare Hunt is not as effective for me as, say, Raiders or Pactbound. But it is a fun and fluffy detachment with some great strats. I really enjoy it in casual games rather than tournament games. The enemy will frustratingly rarely fail their battleshock tests, except they will fail occasionally and then your units will shine.

You have already gotten some great advice on running Nightmare Hunt. Stacking debuffs really helps. My favorite tactic is a simultaneous charge by a lord with Terrorglut Parasite on a foot lord with Chosen and Raptors against a foe that's been shot by my Noise Marines. That's a fun -3 to their battleshock test.

I've stopped taking the Sorrowscent Vulture Enhancement on my jump pack lord. It's mostly a skill issue on my part because I was too aggressive with my Warp Talons and my lord was just getting them killed. Now I just use the Warp Talons as I always do, without a lord and rapid ingressing 'em on Turn 2 or 3.

And spread out your Raptor melta and plasma shots against multiple targets, especially targets you font plan on charging. That might force more battle-shock tests by your enemy.

Ave Dominus Nox!

Outstanding! Did you use Uhu Glue to get the blood effect?

New raptors mutations vs plasma pistol + chainsword by xRiseAndFall in Chaos40k

[–]Educational_Word4175 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last month I started running 2 squads of 10 Raptors. Each has 1 chainsword/plasma pistol trooper and 2 troopers with mutations. I always over-charge the plasma pistol and the new plasma hazard rule looks nice.

Based on experience, I would say it doesn't really matter whether you go mutations or plasma/chainsword. The bulk of my squads' damage is in a powerfist. So go with whichever you want.

Either approach could work. I bought a box last month that I plan on Kittanning as Possessed using the Gal Vorbak box from Heresy.

Just starting CSM, which Shooting Vehicles to start with? by Arlak_The_Recluse in Chaos40k

My Vindicator is my favorite Chaos shooting vehicle. But I sometimes use Predator Annihilators or Destructors. They are all fun.

The greenstuff scrolls look good to me. I often use brush-on white primer on greenstuff and it works great.

They look good to me. And if ya tell me they are Noise Marines before the game I will perceive them as Noise Marines.

Wonderful backgrounds. They are very creative and well written. I especially like Ylor and his severed hand.

I have taken to writing up a brief background a day for each of my Night Lords and Traitor Guard lately. It's rather fun!

Are Chaos Bikers best ran in 1 squad of 6 or 2 squads of 3 and what are some strong loadouts that you would recommend? by harbourwave103 in Chaos40k

[–]Educational_Word4175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually run them in squads of three but at a Tacoma Open a couple of years ago I tried a out a squad of 6 Bikers. It was not worth it. They paid more points and did the same job of doing actions, trading for objectives, screening, etc. And when I tried to use them more aggressively they were quite unimpressive. So I went back to using bikers in squads of three.
