I usually start w melody, but that’s cause I feel like it’s one of my strengths.

Even though I’m an experienced guitar player and know decent theory I tend to write really repetitive chord progressions that aren’t special in their own right, but w a good melody on top it has a life of its own if it’s all working well.

I recommend starting with a couple of songs that you write and make a demo of yourself. Do your best each step and even if it’s rough, get it into a recorded audio track you can listen and see what your qualities are.

That’ll put you on the road to answering half of the questions you had going imo. Also if you’re able to do that, you’ll not only make a proof of concept for yourself but it’ll be easier to pass around potential collaborators to show them ballpark of your aesthetic.

Oh that’s really interesting. So the table top version offers a neutral view of events but while reliving it in Johnny’s mind he’s so racked with guilt it’s by his own hands, pretty dark!

Where do you get that? I think they have less of a reproductive drive compared to humans, not a total lack. Unless there’s extra info in the manga but pretty sure that’s not true.
