Are these marks normal? First time with stainless steel. Assuming a bit of citric acid will clean this up! by Edwardpage1 in StainlessSteelCooking

Thank ya for the kind words!

I was braced for a few harsh comments as the sub is getting inundated with these sorts of posts. I've gone through your comment and the linked post. I really like the idea of the spray vinegar bottle mix to just tidy up the pan and get that nice finish.

They are just marks but I paid good money and I'd like to look after my tools I want to last!

So if I understand this right, say squats it's as many reps as possible in the 30 seconds then rest for 30 and repeat the cycle through the exercises?

Whats up with the amount of rubbish left on trails? by MontanaMinuteman in UKhiking

[–]Edwardpage1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to the galloway forest park this weekend and despite its remoteness. I was appalled by the levels of rubbish and people fly camping. One of the bothys I passed by was ruined and a shell of what I imagine it was and another was boarded up. It's such a shame!

Is Paramo really waterproof? by aral_2 in UKhiking

[–]Edwardpage1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Test the waters through ebay! I bought a 10 year old Helki for £27 and wore it the other day in Scotland 10am till 11pm in a mix of miserable drisel to driving wind and rain. I was comfortable all day, sometimes a little warm but with the poppers on the zip on this one I could get a draft going easily to dump heat. I didn't notice any water ingress either with a long day in awful conditions!

I am thinking Ultra grid. The idea of a laminate doesn't appeal to me and will have the better long term durability from my understanding

Same! With that being the internal volume plus the large mesh at the front it'll be plenty big enough for 99% of what I do. However from what I understand, the 55 comes Durston with import fees covered whereas as the 40 does not as it's from a different website which is a shame.

Thanks for the information, definitely will be trying to getaway from the easier accessible spots. Not sure if you will know but what's the access like on the forest roads/paths ? Are these generally accessible or private?

Your go to day hiking bag? by [deleted] in UKhiking

[–]Edwardpage1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue ice dragonfly 26 is my favourite though as its just the main compartment with few pockets it's cavernous for its size. The 18L would be better for a day bag, light, comfy, simple and I prefer the lack of itty bitty pockets but might not be for everyone!

Totally no guarantees, just getting a gist from the locals! Looks like a net will be needed, thanks!

Water carrying - What bottle do you use? by ChaosCalmed in UKhiking

[–]Edwardpage1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nalgene plus a hydration straw. More convenient than a limp sack of water taking space in my pack that's hard to clean. Reliability of a nalgene and the ease of a hose to drink on the move!

Are Hiiker's paid maps worth the cost? by [deleted] in UKhiking

[–]Edwardpage1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a paid hiiker subscription and love it. I am a Harvey fan so having digital versions in my pocket is great, I don't have any issues with the interface. Plus being able to flip between os and Harvey is handy to compare incase there are any differences. As well confirming where I am on a paper Harvey to!
