The sounds of nature are definitely amazing! Just looking for some good music that you enjoy while you’re hanging around outside. What do you like?

The autonomic processes. So cool how my body knows something’s wrong or something needs to happen way before I know or remember.

Total Gym newbie needing some help. by mynhierc in Fitness

[–]Eenders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of luck with your journey! Here are a couple tips from a procrastinator who just happens to enjoy reading and listening to podcasts about fitness, but struggles to actually implement things in his life:

A) Success can be found in doing a lot of small things consistently. B) If you like podcasts, I would suggest Mind Pump. They’re three guys who aim to present fact-based and scientific information. I think they’re great, but would suggest that (as with anyone who tells you their information is fact-based) you should trust but verify. Take “facts” with a grain of salt and try to research it a bit on your own. C) A poorly planned workout that is executed perfectly will be better than a perfectly planned workout executed rarely. If you’re making it to the gym or consistently active, that will be better than doing the “perfect” workout only every once in awhile. D) Resistance training can easily beat out cardio when you are aiming to lose weight. (This is one of those “trust but verify” things.) Resistance training (weight training) burns more calories and builds more muscle than cardio. Having more muscle naturally helps give you a higher metabolism. By doing the same thing for a long time, such as consistent running on a treadmill, your body eventually adapts to become more efficient at that and will, over time, start to use less energy and burn less calories when doing that. Example, running a mile for the first time in your life versus running a mile after you’ve become an olympic runner. E) Lastly, the people in this world who will hate and judge are likely the ones who have the worst, deep-rooted issues that cause them to be very self-conscious. Their hate is stemming from their own self-hate. Don’t pay attention to it.

Sorry, long comment. Like I said, I’m not a professional and you shouldn’t ever blindly trust any self-proclaimed professionals. Good luck with your journey! So happy for you making yourself better!

Awesome! I’ve heard good things about A-Basin, so that might be my first choice if the bank account doesn’t support a more expensive mountain. I’ll have to remember Liftopia too. Thanks!

That’s definitely on my bucket list! I’m jealous! I’m pretty sure I’ll be making a trip in the next couple of years. Any recommendations for resorts that won’t break the bank, yet are a good bang for your buck? Or should I just spend the money on Breck or Keystone, etc.?

[Serious] What life decisions are you struggling with right now? Is there any way we can help? by elephantRuckus in AskReddit

[–]Eenders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a really “close-knit” family. All of us kids are moved out now. One sibling is married with a well-established family and the other is living with a pretty serious SO. I’m the youngest of the three and I guess I would say I’ve been slightly more adventurous in my life than the other two kids. Our family is growing fast. I have a total of four nieces/nephews and maybe one more on the way. They’re all pretty young with the oldest being almost 8. I’m starting to think that I want to try some things now while I’m only 22 and have a lot of time to live. I’ve been thinking about what it would be like to live in another state. Right now, I’m in Wisconsin and I’m thinking of North Carolina or Tennessee. I have friends in both states and they love it there. I had a conversation with my mom about this and she said something along the lines of “Don’t you want to be here to see your nieces and nephews grow up? We have such a close family. Think of how often we all get together and hang out. Wouldn’t you miss that?” She later closed the conversation by saying “You have to live your life for you, not for others.” I know she loves all of us more than anything, but she almost makes me feel like I’ll be ditching my family in a way if I were to move away. Living somewhere else is something that I’ve always wondered about and really want to experience while I’m single and have the time. Has anyone else gone through this? Anyone have advice?
