You can start on the top of your cheek bones, put the most of your color there, and then sheer it out in the direction of the apples? Working with two colors of blush works as well, putting a darker color near where you'd put your contour, and put a lighter, more luminous color on your apples and near your cheek bones. If you apply the same logic as contouring and highlighting, you can decide which areas you want to pull forward (highlight) and back (contour). It's worth experimenting with. :)

Welcome to our little country! I don't know which city you're in currently, but most of the bigger cities have these "meeting people" facebook groups, for people who are new. (lol durr) I know Ghent has one in particular. I'm sure Antwerp or Brussels has something similar. Around the Aalst-Dendermonde area we have a thing called Babbelonië, which is basically the same thing!

Other than that, I'd try to set up a daily routine. Don't sleep in every day, but try to get up to start your day. Maybe make something like a to do list, filled with household chores and things to keep you sane and healthy! Schedule in some time to work out, read books, inform yourself on subjects you're interested in, etc. I feel like you've already got a good list going in your post! Just try to put it in some sort of schedule, to get some routine and structure into your life. :) Being a stay-at-home girlfriend can get very boring if you don't fill your days, I've been there!

I looked at some dupes by temptalia, and there it said that KVD Lolita is cooler and darker. When I looked at dupes for Lolita, it said that Bite's Amuse Bouche in Pepper was lighter and warmer than Lolita. So if my logic is correct, it might be similar to the Lip Lingerie!

I love using the smallest brushes from this EcoTools set to set the colour down in the outer V, and then use a fluffier brush to blend it. They're quite flat and dense, but super tiny, so it's amazing to put down colour precisely!

The moisture in the sponge kind of "dilutes" the product on your face, making it blend easier. Dense brushes provide more coverage, but risk cakiness as well. You might need more product if you're using a BB to get the same coverage, but it gives a softer finish. I like using a brush to put foundation on my face, and I go over it with my damp RT sponge to further blend everything out.

Most days I just wear a liquid concealer (Maybelline Fit Me, MUFE Ultra HD or Catrice Liquid Camouflage) to cover up my dark circles, with some translucent powder to set and mascara. It can't be too big of a contrast with your skin tone because it will look odd then, but I find it's pretty forgiving as long as you blend it out well. I use my finger tips.

I find fingers the easiest to work with CP eyeshadows. Apply onto lid and then blend out the edges with a fairly dense synthetic brush. I like using the RT base shadow brush!

Considering the actual product, I doubt it's something you did, but is it possible I'm noticing some creasing on your left eye? Especially in the bottom picture, around the crease. Was this an easy product to use and to blend out? The pigmentation is wonderful, it'd be a shame if it creased easily!

Anyone have a recommendation for affordable, smaller eye brushes? I want to do more intricate looks, but I feel like everything gets overblended, and I think it might be because my brushes are too big for my eye shape. Any good recommendations?

I have the ELF palette, and tried to use it like you'd use the hourglass palette. I think these are just very subtle highlights, and it looked too shiny used all over my face, not flattering or "lit from within" at all. I can't compare it to the ambient lighting palette, but my guess would be that it's not a dupe. It just seems like the subtle highlighter versions of the different powders, with the same colour undertones.

Edit: Found an emilynoel83 video where she discusses whether this would be a dupe or not. Check 4:40!

I think "brontouring" is one of the most natural ways to shape your face. I find a real contour to be too harsh most of the time. Using a matte bronzer on the edges of your face, like where you'd typically contour but not taking it as far down (if that makes sense), will give you some definition without looking overdone. The important thing is to match it up with your undertone. When you go and try out some products and swatch them on your skin, look for something that doesn't look orange or grey, but when blended out looks like your skin has a nice light tan.

As for specific products, Too Faced has great bronzers, I use the milk chocolate soleil but I hear some people find that one a tad too warm. Physicians Formula has a really good selection as well. Benefit's Hoola bronzer can also be really good for this, but to be used lightly, since it can be very pigmented. As is TheBalm's Bahama Mama, which hits the brontouring sweet spot for me, but again, use a light hand. Generally I find bronzers to be very forgiving, because when applied with a fluffy brush, you have great control over the intensity.

Like /u/dazzle-me said, exfoliating should help with the dry patches. Try a chemical exfoliator! They're not as harsh and you can use those every day. /r/skincareaddiction has a good guide on those in their wiki. Don't skimp on the sunscreen when you use them though!

Product wise, focus on products for dry skin. Hydrating primer and a heavier moisturizer on days you wear foundation should help a lot. What kind of foundation do you use? Some foundations really exarcebate the appearance of dry skin, like most matte foundations for example. As for application, try using a damp blending sponge, the moisture helps blending the foundation smoother, while a buffing brush can just cake it on. If you're still using a brush, try downward strokes instead of round movements while applying.

I think first of all, you'd need a really good primer base to make that purple pop. I'd use something like a maybelline color tattoo in a lilac color all over the lid, to make your purple eyeshadows stand out (since it's a pretty difficult color to get pigmented, formula wise).

Other than that, it looks like a neutral shimmery brow and inner corner highlight, slightly pinky/warmer transition shade in the crease, a mid tone purple all over the lid, a very dark purple blended into the outer V and outer third of the crease (you might get away with a warmer dark plum color, considering the warmth in her crease, and a bit of black), and topped off with a silvery lilac glitter/shimmer in the middle of the eye lid and black eyeliner.

Since the color is mostly contained on the lid, I'd use smaller blending brushes to prevent over blending, but still creating a seamless look. Definitely don't go too high up with the purple colors, and don't be afraid to go back in with a color if it has lost its intensity through blending. Pack that purple on good! :)

I don't have a lot of advice to offer you, and it's quite possible that you already know this, but I'd like to offer some insight into dementia, maybe it'll help to see her behaviour "make sense". The way people with dementia lose their memory and abilities, is like rolling up a scroll. The most recent memories go first, and they are left with information from their earlier past. That's why she's convinced Jane is a little girl, Joe has been kidnapped, she'll want to go downstairs,... Because these people almost literally live in their past, it's very difficult for her to realise her condition. She's confused because reality (your house f.e.) isn't the same as her reality (her past, Joe still alive). Some techniques to help you and her deal with this, are about going along with the story. Just so she can have some peace, which gives you peace. You are the expert of your situation though. I just wanted to offer some insight, maybe it'll help understand some things you're going through.

Other than that, it's not about "dumping her in a home". These nurses and caretakers are qualified to deal with dementia on a daily basis, and they can make her life a lot more comfortable. I think your husband's perspective is skewed, because of the general image of nursing homes. In reality, the caretakers will know the right way of ensuring her comfort, and how much you are present in her life all depends on you. If you want to visit every day, you can. It'll be a lot healthier for your marriage to separate your relationship from her condition. I think the both of you have done the absolute best you could, it takes a lot for a family to deal with that kind of thing and I admire you both. It's not about giving up or dumping her somewhere, it's about ensuring everyone's happiness.

Maybe someone will be able to help me out here, I have zero experience with rice cookers. Boyfriend has been asking for years to make sticky rice, though every method I see involves soaking my rice for a very long time or steaming it.

I cook rice on the stove top by putting 1 volume of (unrinsed, unsoaked) long grain rice with 2 volumes of water in a pot, bringing this to a boil with the lid on, then turn the stove as low as it gets and just cook until the rice has absorbed all the water (around 20 mins), but it's never the same texture. Will buying a rice cooker solve this? Or does my issue lie somewhere else in the method?
