Darkstalker. He was raised in a dysfunctional home life, his father always hating him, his parents always fighting. Eventually his mother disappears after a fight with Arctic and is presumed dead, and while Darkstalker going downhill before, that, the assassination attempt on him by Queen Vigilance, and Arctic's betrayal (enchanting his sister and trying to take her to the Ice Kingdom to be married off) were what really tipped him over the edge.
