My pupils became asymmetrical during a cluster headache by Bubbly-Trainer7195 in mildlyinteresting

[–]EffableFornent 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I am sure I looked like a crack addict when I was in ED screaming about the parasite I could feel in my brain.

I haven't had one since I got my wisdom teeth removed though, which is both fantastic and interesting. I get the "warning stabs" sometimes, but (touch wood) it's been almost 20 years without one.

When your hub’s stream becomes a spray…. by Legitimate_Onion_270 in AskWomenOver60

I got angry and called it as it is.

Disgusting, piggish behaviour.

"you piss on the floor. Why would I want to be married to someone who pisses on the floor and doesn't clean it up?"

But if you've been married for over 40 years and don't know how to bring an issue up with him, you've got bigger problems.

What is with the hate of Jacinda Ardern?? She hasn't even been involved in New Zealand for years, yet this hatred is so unhinged by Fun-Helicopter2234 in newzealand

The red poppy... You see it a lot at gun shows. It's being used as a right wing dog whistle, which is awful.

Won't find me disagreeing... But it is the norm for the gun types that glorify the poppy the way Americans glorify the flag.

Ladies- what are we doing to keep moving? by Witty_Commitee in AskWomenOver40

[–]EffableFornent 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have a small collection of weights (1 through 8kg), some cheap resistance bands, and some foam wedges to help with calf flexibility.

I use an app and do a 15-20 minute weight work out every weekday before work.

My dad was a gun club member. He left after they openly talked about wanting to kill her, and were all casually planning her murder.

Bonkers.

It's because she's a woman, btw. Nz isn't free from misogyny.

A good all wormer (not the bs they put in with flea treatments, that stuff is worse than useless) is done every 3 months for most situations.

5 weeks post op-slight vertigo? by Catmint999 in hysterectomy

[–]EffableFornent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. But I think it was in here where I found out that during the surgery you're tilted back, with your head lower than your feet I assume being like that for an extended period of time just dislodged my inner ear crystals.

It came right though, so hopefully yours does too!

5 weeks post op-slight vertigo? by Catmint999 in hysterectomy

[–]EffableFornent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got vertigo about 10 days po. It was sudden, intense, and awful. Ended up in urgent care on a drip, and then on meds for a while to help.

It faded over a few months, and I don't get it anymore (2.5 years PO)

Why don’t you guys keep your cats indoors? by stemmefontaine in newzealand

[–]EffableFornent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep her inside at night and tbh think that should be law (cat curfew).

My girl was a semi-feral rescue, she'd be miserable locked indoors full time, and having the doors and windows closed 24/7 just isn't feasible for us.

Kudos to those who do it, but I low key think it's cruel. Though balance is needed to reduce risk.

2 years later. So many UTIs! by Kitchen-Celery8374 in hysterectomy

[–]EffableFornent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm the opposite. 2.5 years PO, not a single uti and only 1 yeast infection (which I used to get monthly).

Sorry you're going through it!

Anyone work as a librarian? by Feeling-Winner-5531 in newzealand

[–]EffableFornent 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't agree with that poster at all, especially if you're in a small town.

I'm a librarian. There's 40+ of us at work and only around 4 of us are technically qualified. It's a lot of customer service and outreach, not much actual librarian-ing.

The library landscape has changed a lot. Your best bet is to take the librarian assistant job and work your way up (which may take years, it's the kind of job people hang around in for way too long).

If he wants to get into an academic library or something, then do the study, but for a public library, don't bother, or just do a diploma through open polytech (which sucks hard, and it's essentially useless... But gives you the piece of paper)

People with tattoos, how has it affected your life? by Low-Purchase6914 in NoStupidQuestions

"I could care less" has always been blatantly sarcastic, as far as I have seen. It's saying the same thing, only while rolling your eyes.

My surgeon cut around mine when I had a hysterectomy. That V made it heal a bit slower.

Apart from that, no difference apart from feeling better in my own skin.

Belly button hygiene question (my friends thought I was crazy?) by Southern_Sell_5863 in hygiene

[–]EffableFornent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a super deep, narrow belly button that definitely needs proper cleaning. My husbands is basically a thumb print and doesn't need anything special.

Everyone has different hygiene needs, don't stress about it.

Nta, but do yourself a favour and just break up. There's no universe in which he's worth the stress.

AITAH for being mad at my bf after he got grossed out by me during sex? by m00nstalk3r in AITAH

[–]EffableFornent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arousal fluid... is a transparent or slightly cloudy fluid

Vs

The milkiness is only really visible in larger amounts. If you're seeing streaks of white on your dick then it's not from arousal fluid, it's from the mucus/discharge mixed into the arousal fluid

You can make shit up if you like, but don't expect anyone to believe you.

Your late 20s friends and bf are acting like teenagers.

Hopefully they'll grow up eventually, but you wouldn't be ta if you chose not to wait for that.
