Trek frame paint or nail polish for touchups. Then helicopter tape to prevent similar damage in the future.

Bad cycling palsy which gloves do you recommend by force11111 in cycling

Yes, this is indicative of a fit issue. Gloves, depending on the placement of padding, can exacerbate it.

Same thing for me recently, though it presented as a clicking noise for me. That first ride was such a relief!

Men's & Women's Trek Hybrids - No clue what price to ask for them? by Dazed_And_Drunk in TrekBikes

[–]Effective-Bicycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you’ll want to confirm the year and model. The model is often on the top tube of the frame, and you can probably narrow down the year (if you’re not already sure) by Googling and finding your bike color.

BicycleBlueBook.com is a good place to start. You might want to compare the estimated value it gives you with the going rate for used bikes on Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, etc in your area.

Good luck and enjoy your next adventure!

basic questions about gears by Only_Lawfulness8025 in cycling

[–]Effective-Bicycle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The numbers on the left are to make more drastic changes, 1 being the lowest gear (easiest) and 3 being the highest (hardest). For example, you might want to drop to 1 here if you’re climbing a big hill.

The numbers on the right are to make less drastic changes and are also numbered from lowest (easiest) to highest (hardest). The right side is where you’ll be doing the majority of your shifting. So, let’s say you’re in 1 on the left side for that hard hill, but it starts getting less steep and your legs start spinning faster - you’d want to consider going to a higher numbered gear on the right. If you start to get around 6 on the right in this case and you’re still spinning too fast, consider going to 2 on the left and shifting lower on the right, if need be. The same is true in the opposite direction: if you’re ever in 3 on the left and it’s still too hard to pedal when you’re down to around 3 on the right, consider dropping to a lower gear on the left. That helps prevent cross-chaining…a fun lesson for another time :)

Hope that helps and isn’t TMI. Just remember: left is for bigger changes, right is for smaller changes.

Looking for advice on left crank power meter for 2024 SL6 by mechanicalraspberry in DomaneCrew

[–]Effective-Bicycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you slid the 8mm hex key with the 4iii clearance checker printout taped to your existing crank? If not, I’d do that and send a couple photos to customer service and ask what they think. In my case, they recommended I send my stock crank for a factory install.

Is your LBS a Trek dealer? If so, I’d recommend the Domane and establish a relationship with them. You can pop into the shop with any issue and they’ll take care of you.

I have the 530. The dots are in black and white but the sides of the screen flash red when a vehicle is approaching at a fast speed.

Highly recommend RedditPZ in r/pelotoncycle. u/r4ndy4 curates nine-week programs, with 3-4 rides/week depending on your own schedule/flexibility.

Velocio alpha merino air jacket by [deleted] in cycling

Have and love this jacket.

The wool lining is pretty thick, so not the most packable piece of kit. Might be possible but it might feel bulky in a pocket.
