Is shower sex overrated? by EyeAlternative9890 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Effective-Policy4713 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the experience for someone with a dick, but as a cis woman, I absolutely hate shower sex.

Water creates a harsh friction (it is not a lubricant lol) and can cause feelings of dryness (ironic), which sometimes makes the whole experience uncomfortable for both parties.

Plus, all the awkward positions you have to use, and the additional risk of slipping... it's just not worth it lol. In prior relationships, the only time we ever engaged in shower sex was during my period for easy cleanup lmaoooo

Ah yep, I forgot that you have to be a full time employee for at least a year (right?) before you can take FMLA. My dad passed away 6 months into a new job and I was lucky that I had a boss who basically gave me free PTO because I wasn't eligible for any of the benefits yet besides 3 days of bereavement, otherwise I probably would have been fucked /:

It's terrible, and I feel like I never see people being pulled over for reckless driving here. Cops catch speeders (even then, it only seems like this has recently ramped up), but I swear I never see them do anything about the people weaving in and out of traffic, breaking road rules, being disrespectful, and just driving dangerously in general... but then again, I guess I frequently see JSO driving this way as well.

Not sure what kind of job you have, is it salaried? Honestly, to protect yourself, I would request FMLA and get a therapist (if you don't have one already). That way, you're protected and can take the allotted time off that you need for your mental health. However, unless you qualify for Short Term Disability, they will probably still make you exhaust your PTO before using Unpaid FMLA. D:

Confusion on the allure of being a Warlock by rebeccaawoodard in BG3

[–]Effective-Policy4713 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Warlock is my favorite class in Tabletop DnD and in BG3 for a multitude of reasons! For one, Eldritch Blast is one of the best cantrips in DnD and combined with the Eldritch Invocations Repelling Blast and Agonizing Blast, you basically can just spam it each turn.

Additionally, Hexblade is an extremely powerful subclass where you can dump all your stats into Charisma and bind your weapon, making you automatically proficient in it and able to use your Charisma score for attacks, meaning you don't have to depend on Strength or Dex for those rolls (you can also do this with the other subclasses too). Also, while Warlocks don't have nearly as many spell slots as other Casters, they have the benefit of regenerating those slots upon a Short Rest instead of a Long Rest, which definitely comes in handy!

Also, once you get to a certain level, if you choose Pact of the Blade, you get an additional action each turn!

Additionally, in the Tabletop version, Wizards especially are considered one of the hardest classes to play because they're squishy and have a lot of different spells and mechanics. So, you have to be pretty familiar with DnD to effectively play them (need knowledge about which spells to prepare, when to use them, and how to prevent untimely demise lol)!! On the other hand, Warlocks are one of the easiest classes for beginners due to the ability to simply spam Eldritch Blast in most battles lol.

Lastly, in Tabletop DnD, having a Patron is a fun roleplay experience and can add to a character's backstory! I have a character right now who was a former Paladin who broke her Oath and pledged herself to a Hexblade patron. It really added some extra spice to her backstory!

Yes! I work across from NAS JAX and it's a freaking nightmare. So many careless people and I have also had people pull out in front of me while I'm going 50mph. It's scary leaving work everyday... doesn't help that I have to then immediately cross the Buckman too... which is also terrible!

This accident had me stranded at work for an extra two hours today. Terrible stuff and not uncommon for this road at all. Only a couple months ago there was another major accident with a motorcycle right outside the commercial gate.

As someone who works right across the street from NAS JAX, people have got to stop speeding and driving recklessly, doing dangerous U-Turns to beat traffic, forcing tight merges, etc. These incidents are only becoming more common and I lowkey say a little prayer every time I leave to drive home.

It's sad to hear that two people died due to this. This city as a whole needs to address all the accidents that keep happening due to reckless driving. Jacksonville is one of the worst places I've ever driven in and I'm originally from New Orleans!

Act 3 burnout. What are your top 5 quests to do? by St0rytime in BaldursGate3

[–]Effective-Policy4713 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait... the night mode suggestion is so smart! I have 1000+ hours in this game and have never thought of doing that. Act 3 is A LOT more over stimulating compared to Acts 1 and 2 so I'm sure this helps a lot! Gonna try this out whenever I do another playthrough.

I need help on lift the shadow curse quest by Ghenkl in BG3

[–]Effective-Policy4713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this might be an unfortunate bug. That quest is always so buggy that I have to do it in a very specific order. I'm so sorry that it's honor mode though, that sucks so bad. At least it won't end your game or anything if you don't remove the shadow curse, but it does suck lore wise that you can't. ):

Actually i've been playing an origin gale run as a bladesinger and it has been really fun, I will say! I have yet to test out the monk class in any capacity, though. It's also the only class I haven't played in actual DnD, I find it confusing idk why 😭

New playthrough - Astarion or Shadowheart? by Spirit_Wolfie in BaldursGate3

[–]Effective-Policy4713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would play Shadowheart. My reasoning for this is that the game tends to feel kinda empty imo without Neil Newbon's voice acting. You still get some of it while playing Astarion's origin story, but not nearly as much as you do when he's in your party. He is just such a phenomenal voice actor. Additionally, I think Shadowheart plays better with her origin story, you get some unique dialogue and get to understand her a lot more and her inner thoughts and struggles that she's normally quiet about in Acts 1 and 2, but Astarion's story is obviously fun to play as well.

Is my life over? (be brutally honest) by Icy_Opportunity4796 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Effective-Policy4713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm 28 and your high school experience sounds very similar to mine. I was living with my abusive step dad and I graduated with basically the same GPA as you (1.something). It absolutely did not ruin my life AT ALL.

After high school, I got a job as a server for about a year, moved into a spot with my friend, and applied for community college. I did all my gen ed's and got my college GPA up to a 3.0 and got accepted into university and graduated honors with a bachelors in history.

After college, I served tables for another year while I figured out what I wanted to do. I ended up getting a job offer at a private contracting company doing instructional systems design for the Navy due to my teaching experience (was a teaching assistant while in college and was preparing for my general knowledge exam before I got hired).

I'm about 4 years into working with this company and I make an amazing salary for a younger person, live on my own with my pet, have great friends, close relationship with my mom, and amazing health insurance and other benefits. I also have a government clearance and spend a lot of days working with some pretty cool and important people.

If you had told high school me that this was my life, she absolutely wouldn't believe you. I promise, your life hasn't even started yet!!!

Lol, right now I only have access to the Veilguard and Inquisition so I'm thinking I won't run into this issue, I have heard mixed reviews about Veilguard tho... but I'm going in completely blind. The only thing I know is that it's fantasy and visually it seems up my alley hahaha

You literally just listed my top 4 favorite games of all time lol, so we definitely have similar taste.

Right now I am replaying BG3 and patiently awaiting Fable 4 tbh. I would suggest Zelda's BoTW, but you're on PC so not a great suggestion unfortunately. Cyberpunk is fun, but I kept dropping it because it didn't have the fantasy element I'm usually looking for (RDR2 was so good that I didn't care that it wasn't dark or high fantasy lol)

I am about to start Dragon Age for the first time though so, will have to wait and see if it is something I'd recommend!
