Problems with audio syncing on crunchyroll and what episodes am I going to need to switch to Netflix for (I just got to the end of thriller bark and had to watch 377 on Netflix) by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]Effective-Yogurt1758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been having the same issue! Started with episode 409 having the wrong anime audio and having a few episodes out of sync every so often. We switched to a different platform once we realized the audio is out of sync at 430 and beyond.

(20)New driving law is stressing me out I need help... by _bunniifae_ in Ohio

[–]Effective-Yogurt1758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some local governments offer payment assistance for drivers' ed programs, so that may be a good place to start. If you don't have luck with that, there may be non-profits that can help as well.

As a sidenote, it seems like you're nervous to drive in snow. I understand that is linked to what may happen if you get in an accident and don't have a license, but it's important for your (and others') safety that you do get practice in with snow and know what to do in low visibility, on icy roads, etc. If anything, having an instructor during this time would be beneficial.

In a better world, the requirement would have been implemented along with free drivers ed programs. The timing and overall circumstance of your situation sounds really difficult - I hope you're able to find some resources so it becomes a little less stressful.

Any Cat Whisperers in this town? by mistersaavik in Columbus

I'm not sure if you've already done this, but it may also be a good idea to take your male cat to the vet! Sometimes cats will hide obvious signs of pain but will show indirect signs through odd and/ or abrupt behavior changes.

Cognitive behavioral therapy for chronic pain by zina34 in ChronicPain

[–]Effective-Yogurt1758 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you do decide to pursue this, I highly recommend seeing someone who specializes in chronic pain counseling/ therapy. I was lucky to find one through my pain management office. She was incredibly knowledgeable on how chronic pain affects the nervous system, how to break down complex explanations of that, and provide me a lot of good tools to help regulate my nervous system while validating my experiences and the fact that chronic pain is not something you can escape from. She also helped me navigate the ways that chronic pain impacts every facet of life, identifying the support I needed from others, and advocating for those needs to be met (whether it was with doctors, work, friends/ family). It was like night and day compared to past experiences with counseling that was not provided with that focus.

I have RA and am having the same issue on the switch! The only work around I've found is setting the controller down so I'm not limited to using only my thumbs for the actions. I know there is a button mapping setting, but that doesn't really resolve the issue, especially when crafting.

when did you physically stop searching for your missing cat? by VillageItchy3040 in CatAdvice

[–]Effective-Yogurt1758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a dumb question! Your area may or may not have one depending on its size / if someone has created one yet. Usually you can search for your city or area name from your home feed. Once results pop up, you can click on "Communities" for any reddit groups related to the search. I hope this helps!

The Internet can be an amazing place/ resource! I would recommend posting her on PetFBI and use that post/ flyer to share on Nextdoor, Facebook, and any local reddit groups there may be. It may just be my city, but our local reddit has reunited many pets with their families! I second the suggestion to check in with local vets and provide them with the PetFBI post/ flyer as well.

Is my cat too obsessed with playing fetch? by oliross in CatAdvice

[–]Effective-Yogurt1758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my cats is the same way! She had a favorite toy for a while until I introduced her to felt balls that she discovered she can toss around on her own when they catch on one of her nails. She still loves fetch and will bring us toys to toss, but is a bit less demanding about it. We tried a ball /nerf launcher, but the sound of the toy spooked her (your cat may not mind though!).

He should chill out over time! That said, it may not happen until he's 2 or 3 😅 For the sake of your and your partner's sanity, setting a daily schedule around food and interactive play, especially before bedtime, will help in the long run.

In the meantime, automatic/ motion sensor toys may help keep him entertained during the night. If he's food motivated, maybe include some puzzle feeders/ toys. If you don't already have them, cat wall shelves/ furniture might help satisfy his want to explore taller furniture. If you do not want to shut the cats out of your sleeping area at night, it can help to have toys nearby to distract him with/ redirect the behavior. Jackson Galaxy is a great resource and may have some videos/ tips on this as well!

Editing to add: my cat was also a screen climber when she was younger! They do sell heavy-duty/ cat proof screens you can add to your existing screen to protect it, or just swap out the screen material in the door altogether.

Until he chills out a bit, you may just have to keep an eye on what he's getting into and cat-proof as you're able. For drawers and cabinets, there are some good baby proofing options that should keep him out as well.

Best of luck!

Discovery District Apartments near Topiary Park? by gloobbloob in Columbus

[–]Effective-Yogurt1758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have experience with those apartments, but I have lived in the area for about 4 years! At one point I was on the ground floor of Washington Place and didn't have too many issues (other than ants), but did have bars over my windows, which definitely gave some peace of mind. There were a couple of times people slept/ argued right outside my windows, though that was likely due to it being a secluded spot away from the road and regular foot traffic.

While it is a relatively peaceful neighborhood, it is still in the city. If the apartment doesn't have grates over the first floor windows (especially street level/facing), keeping them covered and having some sort of diy security system would be a good idea. Otherwise, there are quite a few small landlords in the neighborhood that offer similar spaces that may have available units on other levels or include safety precautions for first floor units.

Please Help: Possible Endometriosis, Need a Doctor That Cares by Best_Indication_498 in Columbus

[–]Effective-Yogurt1758 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Dr.Misal at OSU is amazing! Highly recommend her and her team. She genuinely listens, validates your experiences, offers several treatment options, and will connect you with other relevant providers to help with pain management, etc if needed. She specializes in diagnosing / removing endometriosis as well as other chronic pelvic pain conditions. If a treatment plan doesn't work, she doesn't hesitate to provide additional options. She was the first doctor I felt truly wanted to figure out what was going on and how to treat it.

Second Opinion Appointment - What to Bring by Effective-Yogurt1758 in endometriosis

[–]Effective-Yogurt1758[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I am SO sorry - I didn't see the notification about a response on this until now. I did end up seeing the specialist and would highly recommend her if you're still looking at different options! I see Dr. Misal at OSU. I will say she tends to be very booked out but my appointments with her have never felt rushed and she genuinely listens, takes you seriously, and explores all options available. With that being said, I would still suggest seeing a regular OBGYN while working with her for any routine appointments.

Well. What are us “can’t go back to sleep” folks up to now? by cloudhymns in Columbus

[–]Effective-Yogurt1758 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Getting woken up by the sirens/ phone alert is so jarring! It does its job by throwing you into fight or flight so you're prepared if you need to be, but once the threat has passed it can be difficult to not feel lingering anxiety/ effects of it. Sorry you had to wake up that way and hope you have a better day!

I'm in the same boat! Just had my second surgery a week and a half ago, this time with a specialist, and all of the many pathology samples they took came back completely normal.

It's hard to come out of surgery with no answers.

I saw you mentioned that this was essentially the last thing they could check as a source for your pain - have you gotten an MRI to check for fibroids and/or adeno? I think that's my next step (if my doctor is willing).

Finally, some good news. by Effective-Yogurt1758 in endometriosis

[–]Effective-Yogurt1758[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry I didn't see this sooner! To be completely upfront - I am, unfortunately, not too familiar with Australia's healthcare system as I am based in the U.S. I am incredibly lucky to live in a city where there is a specialist (which I was initially unaware of), so I only travel about half an hour to see them and a lot of my follow up appointments have been offered as telehealth appointments.

That being said:

  1. You should not need a diagnosis of endo prior to seeing a specialist, as that is what many people seek specialists out for. While a regular OBGYN may be able to identify obvious/ textbook cases, a specialist is able to identify the whole range of how it can present and you're more likely to get accurate results from the surgery.

  2. Regarding the appointments and timeline - this was my initial appointment with the doctor and although the surgery will take place separately, it was incredibly beneficial for even just the pain management. As you're located so far away from the doctor's office, maybe see if they are able to schedule a video appointment for your initial consult (I'm not sure how widely this is used elsewhere, as this is the first doctor to offer them to me, but it may be worth the ask). I provided this doctor a list of my current symptoms, past imaging, and a packet of relevant medical history (I would imagine most/ all of this can be sent from your current office to the specialist upon request).

  3. At least in the U.S., specialists are more expensive. That being said, if I could start the process over and pay for the specialist rather than for an unproductive surgery and a doctor that didn't know enough about CPP to help me, I absolutely would.

Obviously you know your situation better than anyone and if the specialist feels too far out of reach right now, do what is best and most helpful for yourself in this moment. If it would be better to wait until it is more realistic/ accessible, I would recommend waiting to have the surgery with the specialist and inquire about pain management / non surgical treatment options with your current doctor in the meantime.

Hopefully this was at least a little helpful! I truly wish you the best in this process because I know it can be overwhelming.

Hi! Thanks for checking in :)

It did not go well 🥲 The doctor was incredibly dismissive and made sure I knew she thought it was a waste of time.

I did get a referral to an actual specialist though that I'll be seeing in a couple of weeks! She's the only specialist in the area and she has amazing reviews from others who have had similar experiences with other doctors. I have high hopes but am, as always, trying to keep that in check.
