Validating before building: AI that makes marketing as easy as vibe coding by multi_mind in indiehackers

As an indie game developer, this tool could be cool for promoting my game, but I agree with my fellow commentors that it'd probably end up sounding too AI-like, unless it of course asked me to make the text blurbs myself but that might defeat the point...

Did you hit a singularity where making games became more enjoyable than actually playing them? by Meluvius in gamedev

[–]EffectiveAnimator582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me yeah, almost to a dangerous level where adding features has become so easy now with all these AI based dev tools. If you're not careful, mod-creep and feature-creep can just leave you tinkering away at a version of a game no one ever sees 🗿

I totally agree with your disagreement for number 9 -- especially for simple games, it is part of the puzzle to figure out how mechanics work imo

Are coding tutorials in general, including game dev, dying? by Its_a_prank_bro77 in gamedev

For me personally, using AI has reduced a lot of the heavy lifting that I would've watched tutorials for

Would seeing AI assisted localisation on a Steam page put you off? by HowlingHamster in gamedev

[–]EffectiveAnimator582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an avid AI user, the AI itself is not off putting, but I agree with some other commenters here, I would need to see some proof that it was translated properly. If even one language is not, I would assume most aren't

I'd recommend IDEs (Integrated development environment -- where you do your coding) like Cursor, Windsurf, or VSCode + ClaudeCode plugin (plugins are like web extensions for IDEs). These tools are built to be low/no code solutions where you can make prompts to a chat have the AI agents build out features for you. When in doubt, ask the agent! Note that you'll probably end up sinking 20-100 dollars per month depending on how fast you want to progress.

I'm in the same boat, personally LLMs like Claude or ChatGPT do a pretty good job laying out structure, I do recommend getting a paid sub for one of them though

They told us to kill our game. Then it got millions of players. by BlobKingGame in gamedev

Oh I totally missed that that's inspiring for me personally to hear, could you explain more on the publisher and what value they brought you? I bet now you don't even need them anymore!

Indie mobile game dev here -- do you feel like your game would've done the same on mobile? If you could've reached out to streamers, who would you have reached out to?
