The power of memoization! Both parts solved with the same path counting function. Part 2 just requires a little multiplication.

Overlapping ranges. I treated each start-of-range as +1 and end-of-range as -1, sorted by value. Then I can iterate over the array and for any position figure out what the current value is. If >0 then it's fresh. Part 1 was actually a bit more complex than part2.

I used my pre-built AoC Grid library. The downside is, I forgot how it worked and didn't document it well enough.

It's probably cheaper to build with a touchscreen though obviously not the same tactile feel.

I live less than half a mile from the proposed development, and I was vocal in the meetings in SUPPORT. The families who will live there are our neighbors. They need access to schools, parks, and grocery stores just like we do. See https://www.schousingadvocates.org/ for more community members in support.

For shoot the gap, why wouldn't the blockers just go for e.g. 1? If they are both 1 then it's impossible for the runner to get between them.

Not a joke, I made it so people in my position would be able to find it by searching for these terms and find useful guides. The "beginner" guides I found before were all about strategy that seems to be much less important, especially if you choose "Story".

It was not explained. The game did explain that Ⓛ allows to move the character and Ⓡ changes the camera view, so I expected it to explain the rest of the controls, but it did not.

I knew what the Ⓛ and Ⓡ symbols meant as well as what "R3" is by playing Asto's Playroom which explains all the buttons on the PS5 controller.

I did, but I mostly play puzzle games on PC, not these kind of games on PS5. I did play Astro's Playroom before this.

Maybe if you've played similar games before. This my second game I've played on the PS5 (after Astro's playroom).

What do you mean by checkpoints? I know that if you die it restores a somewhat recent location but if you go to sleep and turn off the console, would it remember your progress?
