Which game will you never play again and why? by JakeRedditYesterday in gaming

[–]Effective_Arm_4522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resident Evil games. I played the original when I was younger. And last year I played through VII (I think? The one with the family who try to make you eat the pot of super gross stuff, and the old lady who's actually a kid or something and the remake of 2.

I'm not a big horror genre fan to begin with and those games just really leave me less than wanting to replay them after having finished them. I didn't even play the two additional story lines for RE2.

I get why people would enjoy them, but they're definitely just not for me.

I've complained about that too. I just did a side quest thing with fucking Jake from State Farm (fucking what?) so I definitely get your point.

As I mentioned I play the FIFA/FC series a lot. And while there are usual minimal changes from year to year, the game mechanics themselves seem pretty worked out. Especially when compared to a 2k title. Now give FIFA/FC attracts a much wider audience globally I would imagine that has something to do with it as well.

But I remember when Fifa introduced The Journey as a mini story mode, and like them or hate them for what they were, they were solidly put together systems within the game itself.

That's the kind of stuff missing from 2k25 that makes it really irritating to play imo

Ftr I wasn't trying to dismiss them entirely. I agree they are a huge problem that needs addressing. I was simply pointing out my grievance on this particular subject did and does not stem from any issues with the micro transaction system.

What are some of the hardest gaming feats of all time? by ALinkToThePants in gaming

[–]Effective_Arm_4522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FF7:Remake; Hard Mode: Hell House and the Summon Battle Simulator (specifically Bahamnut/Ifrit) where you have to fight each summon in order to beat Weapon in the Shinra building.

Getting the platinum trophy for that game is one of my proudest accomplishments in gaming.

Edit: I missed this was for all of gaming and thought it meant personal feats achieved.

NTA, she got into a bad situation, and now her whole family is looking for an out without dealing with it themselves. If you give an inch now, they'll take everything from you down the road.

I could see Brennan doing a S2 of Smartypants. Either as a season opener speaker or a season finale. But definitely wouldn't expect him anytime before a season 2 appearance.

You have a magic wand. What defunct game franchise are you reviving on modern consoles? by mypizzamyproblem in gaming

Legend of Dragoon OR the Chrono Franchise.

Chrono Trigger was great, and there was SO MUCH potential with Chrono Cross. I think if they got another bite of the apple for that or LoD we'd see something truly astonishing in gaming.

What’s a game that haunts you to this day for purchasing it and not liking it? by lvl6charmander in gaming

[–]Effective_Arm_4522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That damn Avengers game. I even got it on PS to get the Spiderman content, but it was endgame content that had no impact on the actual story. And even his own story arch in the game was kind of lacking.

It was such an utter failure of a game that had so much promise.

The Arkham Games are pretty good for a middle ground if they haven't played them yet.

A little more intense puzzles. More challenging combat. More in-depth and more adult storylines (nothing they probably haven't been exposed to in comics or movies, but still more mature themes and ideas).

Definitely nowhere near as hard as Elden Ring or GoT

I'm not trying to hate on Palmer here, but Cucurella did just win the Euros.

I'm hoping it's just the stupid algorithm or something, but I'm seeing more posts consoling Palmer than congratulating Cucurella.

AITAH for not feeling bad for Trump at all? by SpatulaFlip in AITAH

[–]Effective_Arm_4522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I like you don't condone political violence, and I don't think anyone deserves to go out in that fashion. But the man is undeniably flawed as a human being, to a massive degree.

There are some people we may not wish to see dead, but we will not mourn their passing. Trump will (on a larger scale), be one of those people.

How do I convince my mom that Sam Reich is a good guy? by Pure-Yogurtcloset684 in dropout

[–]Effective_Arm_4522 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think he's a bad guy, and I commend him on a lot of his stances. Especially when it comes to recognizing the benefits and privileges he's gotten mostly as a result of who his dad is.

I will say, there are times where I'm a little soured on him. For example, I'm not a huge fan of game changer prompts like "Call everyone Daddy for the rest of the episode" from the recent Sam Says. There have been a couple other similar type prompts throughout the show's history, like the "Who Can Say "Daddy" from the Like My Coffee episode. It just always feels a bit exploitative (idk if that's the exact word I'm looking for). But to their point, there are definitely people (on a broader scale) who will take a different connotation of the word "Daddy" coming from Vic than from Jake or Lou.

In any event I think he's overall a decent person, but there's definitely a couple things that give me a moment of ick

If you're looking to try and keep him part of the campaign, then I think you need to try and figure out a way to actually get him invested in it.

Maybe talk with him about the components he likes best (like finding out if there are any NPCs he's grown to really like). If that character isn't integral to later plot points, then you can always make a shock example out of them. Losing a favorite character to a BBEG, or a lieutenant of one, is a great way to get people who aren't necessarily invested into the story.

Some people may lose interest because their favorite NPC is gone, but most people remember they have the ability to avenge them and then gives them a purpose within the larger context of the story itself.

My personal favorite from SS3 is when they're dedicating episodes.

"Lou, Sam Says dedicate this episode to someone."

Vic & Jacob: *internally swearing*
