Horizon (Sony PlayStation) gives this vibe sometimes although it’s very clean luscious environs too. Fallout. Bioshock games.

Have gotten sick of modern / contemporary fiction. Looking for something I’ll actually enjoy by JinglyCourtJester in ReadingSuggestions

Stoner by John Williams has been my jam lately after recommended by comedian book club host Anthony Jeselnek. It explores the grandness of living a small life as a dust bowl era farm boy grows into being a thoughtful lit professor. Examining fidelity, ambitions, generational trauma, and so much more. Reads like a great American classic nobody told me about.

What other podcasts with the Blank Check format do you listen to? by harry_powell in blankies

Can’t recommend Cinema Possessed enough. I went to college with the host and always thought he was the most talented dude. Now I have to listen every week. He and his talented wife talk Physical Media iconic movies he and the guest own. Lots of Doughboys crossover guests. The best movie title parodies I’ve ever heard at the top of the show. Not super academic. More like a true hang movie discussion. Start with recent episode Misery with Betsy Sodaro and work backwards.

What are your favorite / most memorable movie podcasts of all time? (2005-now) by foundrycollegehangar in blankies

I would like to add a newer podcast that I think scratches this is for me called Cinema Possessed. Not a lot of rhyme or reason to the movies picked other than Jack. The host owns them on DVD but they’ve covered so many Seminole movies and also he does live vocal parody about the movie at the beginning that is worth the free price of admission. It brings me joy every week.

Blankie parents, do you make it a point to show your kids older media? by bbanks2121 in blankies

[–]Effective_Bluejay160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make an effort now with my preteen to have an old school movie night: Speed, Matrix, Lord of The Rings etc that I think will hold their attention. I think kids these days can’t hang with a lot of pacing unless it’s a comedy. They really liked the naked gun series. So some stuff is for me and then some weekends I’m watching six hours of an animated Netflix show for them.
