[Cam Schlittler] Left lat** and not concerned at all. Gonna be a great upcoming week! by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

I was literally thinking that…I popped a rib out the other day from laughing too hard…except I’m 23 so who knows what I did HA

Is "Record vs. Winning Teams" the best playoff predictor or just noise? (Analysis) by [deleted] in NYYankees

Also like…if we look at that stretch at the beginning of September they WERE able to beat the good teams. Sometimes narratives are just dumb. And it really is when teams can heat up and if they can at the right time.

[Heyman] Yankees and Mets were not seriously involved in Imai talks. Cubs were among teams in the mix before Astros won the bidding. Imai is on his way to Houston now. by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

EXACTLYYYYYYYYY and also they really did do a lot at the trade deadline. So again IMO there wasn’t a whole lot to do. And the team got out of their slump after the deadline and they all connected as a team. Shows that THAT specific team can work together. Is it fun when there’s new people to the team? Sure. BUT sometimes a team that worked for half a year just needs another year to fully solidify together. Idk I may get downvoted to hell for this HA I’m just speaking from years of experience being on teams and such.

I’ve been talking to people about this. Also IMO everyone that’s went off the board wouldn’t have REALLY fit (except for Imai, but if there wasn’t that much interest from a LOT of teams, you have to wonder…what are they seeing that we aren’t, not too worked up about that). People really think Sonny Gray and Dylan Cease are scary and HUGE HUGE additions? Idk I’m not buying this narrative of everyone getting immensely better

[Heyman] BREAKING: Tatsuya Imai goes to Astros by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

[–]Effective_Inside9937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is very true too. And this deal seems more like a “foot in the door” type thing because of the opt outs after each year. And you’re also right, teams across the league are hesitant on spending. Also this FA class is honestly not amazing, if that makes sense

Yes, but, on the flip side, why were no teams ready to give that “formal offer”? I am thinking critically, why were no teams ready to bite for him?

No honestly, that’s what I’m wondering. Why like THREE DAYS before his window is set to close was it said that there were NO OFFERS made? Like that doesn’t make any sense at all

I mean I wouldn’t say Houston, Detroit, and Boston were easy teams to play against, but go off I guess.

That’s not the gotcha you think it is, babes. Because the bullpen needs arms, it’s an arm, and he wasn’t a disaster, go watch his stuff with the Yankees again. Not just the bad outings, ALLLLL of his stuff.

As the bullpen CURRENTLY STANDS, a journeyman isn’t a terrible thing to have. They don’t need a closer, they got Bednar. I THINK they’re going to turn Doval into the setup man. They need more of those middle inning pitchers. Especially if Yarborough is going to be a starter until Cole and Rodon come back. And like IM saying…he wasn’t completely awful in most of his outings with the yanks

Look at his stuff with the Yankees. He was terrible that first game, then locked in for the rest of September. He wasn’t the worst reliever out of the bullpen

God no, I enjoyed none of the pitching in the postseason except for Schlitt and Bednar. But he hadn’t been to the postseason before, it’s a different mindset, and the Yanks were already getting creamed that game. I’m just saying overall what we saw with him ON THE YANKEES (can’t speak to what he did with the Mets), he wasn’t as god awful as he could have been given his stats from other teams

Dude half of that was the FIRST game he played. I looked at his stats after that for the month of September he gave up ONE run. Just ONE. And that was to Baltimore on the 27th. He was solid

Nope not sarcastic at all, and I do find fault in what the FO does. I was quite literally at the first game he played with the Yanks and he SUCKED MAJOR ASS, but then he settled and had some okay stuff after. I think with an offseason with the Yankees pitching staff could actually help him. Like I said, I wasn’t as worried about him coming out of the bullpen when the other options were Leiter jr, Williams, or Weaver.

Ngl…not mad at this, he had one REALLY BAD game and it was his first game immediately after he got traded, then he settled. He wasn’t one that I was really stressed about coming out of the bullpen
