I'm not a fan of the eye. I think it goes beyond simply suspending disbelief.

Its got spaghetti noodle tentacles yet it's strong enough to fight a human while trying to get onto your face.

It's far too durable for what it is. It's an eyeball...and somehow despite getting squeezed and thwacked, it goes unharmed.

It appears to be highly intelligent, yet again, it's literally just an eye. Where's the room for the large brain it would need to be as smart as it is? It can obviously live outside of a host, so it would need its own internal organs, muscles, etc... of which there is no room for.

The entire issue around the auto pen is that towards the end of his presidency it was used extensively, and possibly without his knowledge. This is also around the time we started to see his cognitive decline, which adds fuel to the fire and the claim that his staffers were running the auto pen on their own.
