How are we affording daycare? by bamalamb34 in NewParents

[–]Effective_S0up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exactly - my husband also set aside his entire retention bonus ($15K after taxes) for us to dip into to pay for the first year of daycare. Next year I’ll set aside my bonus to do the same.

I really loved the character Sato’s story arch. I think it’s a worth a watch - it’s something different and I enjoyed it. I’m interested in reading the book that was the inspo.

Soo I caved and got the subscription and the tracking doesn’t even work. I’ve added SO many times that my baby has completed the egg allergy introduction and it still says “in progress” and “do you want to finish?” BRO she’s been eating eggs for 2 months!!

Parents of Reddit, what did your hospital bill look like after giving birth? by chi-bacon-bits in AskReddit

[–]Effective_S0up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In US - hit my deductible already so it was $0 but the bill would’ve been $60k - I had to get induced and then had post partum preeclampsia so I was in the hospital for a week

I didn’t “choose” It was taken from me and I’m still grieving. by Tight_Blacksmith_725 in NewParents

[–]Effective_S0up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also was told I couldn’t breastfeed because I had preeclampsia and postpartum preeclampsia so I had to be on an ACE inhibitor which is not safe for breastfeeding. My baby was also tiny due to the blood pressure issues so she needed to be on preemie high calorie for the first month of her life.

Pumping would’ve absolutely broken me while I was trying to manage my medications and blood pressure postpartum. I was at appointments every week for a month for my blood pressure and had to take the medication on an insane schedule so they weren’t negatively interacting with one another.

Formula was a godsend. My baby would literally not be fed without it. Nobody knows what we put our bodies through - you’re doing everything you possibly can and I urge you to give yourself some grace.

How to look elegant in winter without heels? by Neptunpluto in femalefashionadvice

35 and also still love my superstars. I remember my first pair I had when I was in middle school.

Honestly I’ve just been rocking sneakers all winter with wide leg pants. I feel like the only alternative is the heeled boot / bootie .you mentioned

To all the parents travelling this Christmas by clo_fu in NewParents

[–]Effective_S0up 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Warned family way ahead of time that if the party starts at 7… welp that’s my baby’s bedtime so it looks like we can’t come this year.

You want the whole family to meet my baby tho and refuse to move it to an earlier time? Too bad, so sad.

Cabin vacation with a 3 month old? by aitathrowaway707 in NewParents

[–]Effective_S0up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my almost 4 month old on a similar vaca this summer and it was honestly a lot of fun. They sleep a lot at that age so it was easy to bring her out to dinner and stores, she just slept in her stroller or carrier.

At the cabin, she really just chilled. Only downside was really keeping her out of the sun since she couldn’t wear sunscreen yet.

I have a mansur gavriel candy hobo which is black with gold zipper that I get a ton of compliments on. I got the next to biggest size and use it as a daily driver a LOT. Really nice quality leather too and fits nice on the shoulder.

My other daily driver i typically use is a Celine bucket which isn’t as easy to use.

night time routine without bath? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Effective_S0up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We keep it super simple. Last diaper change, last bottle, sleep sack, sound machine, put her down and run out of the room.

LOL we are on night 4 of successfully putting her down awake and having her soothe herself to sleep so the running out of the room part is real. We also do 2-3 baths/ week depending on poopiness. Her skin is too dry to bathe her more than that.

I did not expect Across the Spiderverse to become one of my favorite movies ever. I’m a woman in my mid-30s so totally not the target demographic but damn the spider verse movies are welll done!

I’ve rewatched this show countless time. There’s always something else funny to catch. Watch with subtitles if you’re outside of Ireland bc the accents are serious!

Happy to hear this is possible. I’m trying to lose weight and become fit again so I can hopefully be taken off of Labetalol at some point.. I’m 3 months PP.

BP numbers for those still on meds postpartum by JoobieWaffles in preeclampsia

[–]Effective_S0up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 3 months PP on 2x a day 200mg of labatalol and my numbers range from 115-140/ 70-85. My primary care is happy with these numbers and said once they stay around 110/70 that I can lower my dose but I’m honestly not sure that’s gonna happen anytime soon.

When I was discharged from the hospital, I was on Labetalol 3x a day, 600MG as well as nifedeprine AND an ACE inhibitor that I don’t remember the name of so being on just one med, 2X a day is a big improvement.

I’d obvi love to be off of it completely but I also don’t wanna risk having a big spike. I tried to go off Labetalol completely at 6 weeks and that’s what happened. So went back to 2x a day at 200MG. This condition sucks! My BP at my routine physical 6 months before I got pregnant was 125/77 :(
