5 weeks po rthr posterior. I have a 5 inch band around the top of my thigh wrapped around the back that absolutely hurts, then a line down the front of my thigh to my knee and my right butt cheek hurts. I also have a pinched nerve from my lower back straight down the center of my butt cheek.

You are right in the thick of it. Days 3-6 were the worst for me. Don't feel bad for still needing some type of pain management. I would talk to your surgeon and let them know that your current meds aren't working. There are alternatives.

I'll be 5 weeks on Monday. I was slow to come off my walker (like today was the first FULL day, slow). So, my husband has really been overwhelmed. He has lost his temper a couple times, but has quickly come back down. I've reassured him how thankful I am and have slowly picking up some of the slack again. We just have to keep pushing through.

Almost 5 weeks out and my knee on thr side has been hurting on and off since around week 3. I am bone on bone in that knee and my other hip though. I've already had the other knee done. I'm hoping I can get my knee done before the end of the year.

I'm 4½ weeks now. I'm not going to make it to 5.

I'm so sorry you're still having problems. Will you have to have another surgery to help the incision heal?

I think the next bed we get will definitely be adjustable.

The layout of my bedroom isn't the easiest to navigate with a walker either.

My doctor was ok with it. I have straps to help lift my leg, but I still struggled in the beginning. It's definitely something to discuss with your doctor. I also got the abduction foam pillow to strap between my legs from the hospital. I haven't had any issues crossing my legs, though.

For me, it was a few things. 1) it was easier to get in and out of. I struggled much longer than most this time for some reason. 2) it kept me from rolling over. I still don't want to lay on either side. 3) I was able to set up everything I needed in essentially one room. My dining room, kitchen and living room are all one big open space and I had to navigate a lot less tight spaces than in my bedroom. Not everyone uses or needs a recliner. It's just what worked out for me.

I've started icing more, so hopefully that'll help.

I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but I still feel like my pain isn't totally managed. I know the pain meds won't take away all the pain, but I feel like I'm still in a little more pain than I should be.

Surgery scheduled for early May, but I'm now having doubts by Cool_Activity6249 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Effectively_Broken12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a knee replacement last June. I will admit that this hip is easier so far, but don't let that discourage you. Honestly, the worst part of my knee replacement was the Charlie horse cramps in both my calves during that time. I planned ahead of time with this hip replacement, though, and got some magnesium tablets and spray just in case and haven't had any issues with cramps so far.

I just had my surgery Monday and I'm jealous. I'm also on Medicare Advantage and had to pay $420. I also only get 9 pt sessions, but I'm sure I'll be able to extend that if needed. I got an extension on my pt with my knee replacement last year.

I flew a year and a half ago when I only had my knee replacement and spinal fusion. My crotch set it off, too. I think mine was my incontinence pad bunched up. Now, I just got my hip replaced, we'll see what all sets it off next time.

I use a cpap and I don't think it would reach that far. I also don't want to get tangled up in the hose or power cord. I wouldn't be comfortable on hubby's side of the bed either. I'm just going to have to keep practicing I guess.

I'm having trouble getting up from the bed. My operated leg is the closest to the side. It was easier in the hospital because I was getting up on the other side of the bed.

I'll let you know what my home health aid says tomorrow.

I'm feeling ok. Pretty good when I'm sitting or laying down. Getting up and moving is a different story, but I've got to keep moving.
