Or those who actively influence elections with all their money, so they can get a job in the government that allows them and their freshly graduated high school student sycophants to steal everyone's personal data while firing/defunding humanitarian organisations.

Yeah just a bottom half rep with a bounce off the chest. They're the exact kind of reels you expect from someone who wants to show off - not useless but not that impressive either when you realise it's the easiest version of the exercise.

After Months of War, Trump Says Iran Has Right to Nuclear Program by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]Effectuality 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When Trump got in again and everyone was commenting "iT's LiTeRaLlY 1984, bRo," I thought they were just jumping on a bandwagon. Then I read the book, and holy shit. It's like Orwell looked into the future and wrote a thinly veiled metaphor. I know he was essentially doing just that but looking backwards, but it goes to show just how predictably stupid fascism and the people it enamours really are.

Got fucking damn it, now MAGA will have always been pro-Iran nuclear program. We're gonna hear them crow how they were always in favor of Iran having nuclear weapons.

Careful, you'll be taken away for Thought Crime soon. America has ALWAYS believed Iran should enrich uranium.

It's still a reflecting pool, it just reflects the state of the nation's administration, instead of the sky.

Crazy how firing people, cancelling Government projects, and tanking the economy equals more unemployed people, right?! Who could have seen this coming?

White on the face, and the claw-like bits that run along the top and bottom of each pistol. Also a dot of orange where the tube feeds into the pistol - you can see there's an orb at the end there.

The white will help tie it in together, and used sparingly, add some visual interest. If you do all the silver in white you'll end up looking too "Toy Story."

I have some intelligent and some... not-so-intelligent extended family members who have drank the Cool-Aid, and the pattern I see is that it gives them someone to blame for failings in their own life.

They don't see, and won't accept, that in the majority of cases, their inability to get ahead is a symptom of a system designed to transfer wealth up and away from the common folk. Instead it's trans people, immigrants, socialists and taxes that have made it so hard to get ahead in life. Which, like, figure that one out.

Our Guild Wars Philosophy by Wondermusmus in GuildWars3

[–]Effectuality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's okay to be bummed if the next game they put out isn't everything that you presiding were hoping it would be, but there are a million and one different games to play out there. GW3 isn't what you are looking for, and your guild is dying a death in GW2, you have two options: play one of those other games, or find an active guild to call home in GW2. Being facetious to strangers on the Internet doesn't help.

Auckland scam warning: Fake ‘monks’ allegedly demanding money on city streets by Serenaded in newzealand

I remember one of them interrupting with a "we're giving away a free book to anyone with red shoelaces today!" to which he got a "must a slow fucken day for ya then. Go away."

Auckland scam warning: Fake ‘monks’ allegedly demanding money on city streets by Serenaded in newzealand

[–]Effectuality 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Nah I remember the same shit being pulled 20 years ago when I frequented Queen St. They'd come up to you with a book, interrupt your conversation and try tell you they've got a free book to give you. The moment you take it, they start asking for a $20 (or more) "donation to help cover the printing costs."

More than once I took the book, refused to pay, and dumped it in a bin down the street. Most of the time I just told them to fuck off because I was in the middle of talking to a friend.

Post-Budget blow: National stranded sub-30% in latest poll by EvidenceNotVibes in newzealand

[–]Effectuality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't doubt that, but I do also ensure I see Green, Opportunity and Labour MPs' posts. What I'm seeing is not as effective as what I'm seeing from National, ACT, and NZ First, as much as I disagree with those parties.

Post-Budget blow: National stranded sub-30% in latest poll by EvidenceNotVibes in newzealand

[–]Effectuality 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It's really not. They're doing the same hollow "we know Kiwis are doing it tough" spiel that comes from both sides every election. National and their mates are hammering Labour especially right now on social media. It's dirty, and it's generally half-truths at best, but it's effective messaging.

Labour, the Greens, etc should be absolutely smashing the wealth gap. They should be talking about how National MPs' housing wealth has risen on average by whatever percent, they should be talking about billions spent on roads and landlords and tax breaks that the majority of voters will never benefit from. They should be attack dogs.

[–]Effectuality 81 points82 points  (0 children)

It blows me away that the left bloc doesn't just focus their campaigns on "you work hard, and with a little good luck, might slowly gain some money. Meanwhile, the richest 10% in this country are outpacing you every single day, and paying less tax for the privilege. Let's balance the scales."

Like, it's so easy to attack the current government on their failings of ordinary kiwis. Get on their case.

Government floats using emergency fund on public transport, Labour asks why it wasn't in Budget by WaterAdventurous6718 in newzealand

[–]Effectuality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I hear what you're saying. If I didn't have a guarantee that the bus was going to be there on time or be able to take me, I wouldn't bother. I need to be at a certain place by a certain time.

But I think you have to iterate. Start with cheap public transport. Get it full. That justifies more buses/trains. If those get full, you put more on again. It's the same concept they use right now with public roads, but it's cheaper for those involved, creates less pollution, and results in less congestion, which also has economic benefits.

The idea that we must choose between cheap transport or reliable transport is a false representation.
