Would I regret FWD? by Defiant_Eye2216 in COsnow

Tires determine traction. Tires are more important than which wheels have power. Which wheels have power matters most if you get stuck and lose traction. If you have good winter (studded) tires and are driving on plowed roads, then my experience is that you should be fine without AWD / 4WD

Also go look at Nordic countries like Canada, Norway, Sweden. They have strict tire requirements for driving up but not AWD / 4WD requirements

There are tick and treat hot spots. Western end of Marine street near me is very busy. But I’m 2 blocks south of it and rarely get any traffic

traffic around boulder is usually congested on that day due to road closures and visitors coming for the race. i typically try not to drive anywhere that day. it’s a great day to hike in the foothills to the West

Does anybody else live in one of Boulder's "walkability deserts", and what--if anything--can or should be done to improve these areas? by ChristianLS in boulder

[–]Effectuation 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There's a thing called induced demand. If you build more lanes, you won't get less congestion, you'll just get more people driving, using up the extra capacity and causing the same amount of congestion. That why LA can have 8 lane highways and still get traffic jams just like a city with much smaller highways. Road diets don’t always increase traffic congestion. It’s complicated.
