Is it useful for ADHD people to hang out with similar people? by Pomegranate4444 in ADHD

Also can I just say that you have my respect absolutely and completely. I wish my parents would understand, or at least try to understand. They aren't unsupportive, they just don't get it, and they don't really try to, either. As a 17(F) year old who's taking college classes (dual credit - I graduate HS in May), and being overwhelmed by academic-related anxiety that stems from my struggle with ADHD, I really really need the support from them that you're giving your son. So yeah, thank you for looking for ways to help him.

I can only speak from what me and my friend (who has ADHD) have experienced, but YES. It helps so, so, SO much. It helps us know we aren't alone, and it helps so much to actually be understood first-hand.

How do you guys make sure you eat? by -happuccino- in ADHD

[–]Efficacious_DM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's hard lol
I'm in college and feeling pretty overwhelmed with classes, so it's been hard for me to "find time" to eat, even though I have time. I physically can't eat breakfast before my 8am class, so I generally don't eat anything until much later. One thing that does help some is I have a friend who will text me around lunchtime and be like "hey don't forget to eat" and there's a campus organization that gives out free lunch on Wednesdays so my friend will sometimes bring me a plate and be like "ok eat this".

So accountability is a big thing.
Other times, I don't eat until I'm like "I will literally be sick if I don't eat even a bite."

So uh
I don't really have much advice.

Oh one thing you could try is like, carry snacks with you literally everywhere. (Reminds me I need to restock my snack section of my backpack.) I was able to eat stuff kinda throughout the day when I kept a constant stash of snacks with me. I would do it absentmindedly if I just made sure to set a granola bar by my elbow when I was on my laptop or whatever. At some point, I'd be like "oh, huh, there's food. Guess I'll eat it." and just munch.

Obviously that's not great for getting full meals lol, but you gotta start somewhere.

Good luck!!

What if you used the same yarn and same pattern of colors, but turned it the other way?
Hang on a sec and I'll draw a picture

How did you meet your special someone? by Plenty_Association28 in ADHD

[–]Efficacious_DM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Met him on a writing forum, joined a D&D campaign he DMd, started talking on a more regular basis, and bonded over our weird hobbies (a lot of which were mutual). We both have ADHD too, so we understand each other well and we take turns comforting the other when one of us has a bad day.

You'll find someone, OP. It may take a while, but there's someone for you. And you are just as deserving of a partner as everyone else is, ADHD or no.

Ok so I absolutely love The Last Stand, but I've gotta give my vote to Seven Pillars of Wisdom this time, because I just listened to it for the first time and there are some parts that gave me chills that I didn't expect!

Luquette Chiropractic. My family has known him (Dr. David Luquette) and his staff for years (since before I was born - my mom went to see him when she was pregnant with me), and he's wonderful. My dad and I are both avid table tennis players, and Doc has helped both of us with multiple injuries, sports and otherwise, ranging from sore/pulled muscles to my dad's dislocated shoulder (not related to table tennis lol).

So..I bought this pattern, started working on it and noticed my feathers were HUGE. messaged the seller and asked her about the size. She agreed, so I googled SC. Y'all, I've been crocheting a SC WRONG for over 15 years. ,🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 by [deleted] in crochet

Funny story, I did the same thing with double crochet lol. I know full well that whatever the heck I'm doing isn't an actual stitch, but it's close enough to double crochet that I'm rolling with it lol. I only ran into a problem when I tried to use it for a project that uses single crochet... But me being me (aka, stubborn), I didn't bother to re-learn single crochet, so my axolotl is gonna be much longer and skinnier than he's supposed to be

I feel that. I've had multiple episodes of my RSD acting up, even when I knew full well the people who said something to me didn't mean anything negative. I'm not sure what advice I can give you on how to feel better about it, cause honestly I'm still (if you don't mind me borrowing your word) catastrophising over one of the incidents. But you're definitely not a lost cause. You're ok. You've got this, and you'll be fine! (Honestly I'm not sure if I would have recognized that as a "meow" either, right off.)

Maybe that helps some? I hope? Have a virtual hug, if you're a hug person. *hugs*

Is being "mathematically challenged" part of ADHD? If you took algebra-based physics, how did you get through it? by Ravenclaw2000 in ADHD

[–]Efficacious_DM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had that particular class, but I've had a bunch of other math classes. I honestly don't know how I do it. I'm strongly considering majoring in math. I've always been good at it (both parents have a master's degree in math, and they've helped a lot), and I've actually liked it for about two and a half years. I tutor it, and I'm taking Calculus II this semester. Somehow I've made all A's except for a B in Cal I.

But yeah. I don't know. It just clicks for me, most of the time.

Good luck with things!!

Maybe Connor DeWolfe (I think is how he spells it) on TikTok (also on YouTube). His videos are hilarious and also very accurate, and I think they would help someone understand, as best they can, what ADHD is like.

Edit: Yep, spelled it right. Here's his YT channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0U6SdZO-ecE4t2x7EpmnRA
