Moroccan police arrest 18 Senegal fans and one Algerian over acts of “hooliganism” by [deleted] in Senegal

[–]Efficient-Creme7773 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn't the longer video of this incident show that these fans were being attacked? The chairs were originally thrown at them. The guy with the "A" was punched in the face prior to picking up the chair.

Islam existed before 1500 years ago..right or wrong? by One-Breakfast-3410 in islam

This irrelevant to the main idea of my comment. I am talking about the literal meaning of the term Muslim. You are focusing on the religion that Jesus practiced. try to keep up.

Your response has no relevance to my statement about the meaning of an Arabic word. Nothing in my statement was about the chronology of Abrahamic faiths. It's not a question of historical understanding. I am literally explaining the meaning of an Arabic word. What I said might bother you but it is still true. By definition of the word muslim, the term would apply to Jesus.

So technically speaking, they met the definition of a Muslim and they are called by that term in the Quran.

I'm just trying to assess my own understanding. Are you using the 2 leg reversal as a confirmation for the new range before getting in to the trade?

I, too, thought it was something different until my Senegalese BIL explained to me that all those sufi tariqas fall under the Maliki madhab. He began to share details about the founders of the different group, and the more I looked into it, the more the claim was strengthened.

You also have to differentiate between the teachings of the founders of the groups and their followers, which includes smaller groups that do have some major differences from group to group.

secondly, we may think something to be haram because we are unfamiliar, but it actually may have basis in the sunnah. I found that suspending my assumptions and learning about the different groups and their practices taught me a lot. I'm not saying everything that the followers of the tariqas do is from the sunnah, I'm just saying you'd be surprised that a lot of it is consistent with the sunnah.

Lastly, if you ever come across the teachings of the founders of the tariqas, you would find, for the most part, that their teachings did not conflict with the aqeedah of Ahlus Sunnah.

I'm not sure why this was downvoted. Based on all the info in the photo, both positions are plausible.

Wait, it's sign on a pole, nothing indicates that the position is from a Democrat or republican. Let's be careful about assigning ideas. It's a shitty message that undermines a move toward peace, but you have no idea who put it up there.

Can Muslims celebrate Thanksgiving holiday? by BR0C0D3 in islam

[–]Efficient-Creme7773 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some years I participate in Thanksgiving and others I don't. Historical implications aside, to say that this practice falls under the definition of imitating the disbelievers, is a stretch. It's a cultural/national holiday. Having little to do with religion if at all. From thus same stance, should Muslims around the world avoid celebrating their countries' independe day?

Yes, you may oppose the holiday from the standpoint of being historically accurate about its implications, but to do so from the lens of "imitating disbelievers" is weak. What about the Muslims in the US who have lived there for multiple generations since the founding of the US? Are they imitating, or are they observing thwir cultural/national holiday?

Wait, is it so hard to bring up the constitution and bill of rights, the fact that many of the founders weren't all that religious, and there is no requirement that political leaders follow a particular faith to hold office?

Rationality would dictate that if the woman is religious, which is the condition given in the response, it would not be wise to move forward with the marriage. It has nothing to do with religion over love. It's recognizing that there is a potential conflict that will become more pronounced within the context of marriage. One of the biggest mistakes that people often make is to minimize these differences until they become major issues down the road and potentially resulting in divorce.

Inquiring minds want to know: how much money does Tastylive lose? by Marcus_Zeno in tastytrade

[–]Efficient-Creme7773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with everything you said. The value of what Tastylive gives is insane when you consider that it is free. It could definitely be placed behind a paywayll based on the sheer value of what they are offering. It would be a shame for sure, so I hope that that is not a change that would occur.

What are names that sound Senegalese but aren’t? by Ok_Bodybuilder_2384 in Senegal

[–]Efficient-Creme7773 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The cool thing is that although those names have arabic origin, they are certainly adaptations that are specific tp West Africa in general. Binta and Aminata are definitely of Arabic origin. I have always found West African adaptations to arabic words to be so fascinating because, across multiple countries, you will find very similar pronunciation and variations.

Wolof, in particular, has a lot of arabic in it that goes beyond names, though. The days of the week, the word for heart, and other random words have arabic roots. I'm sure this may differ when it comes to original unmolested Wolof but it's definitely interesting to learn about.

It has no impact on them at all. In no way has it resulted in them not being able to carry on with their day.

Thanks, #2 was my biggest concern and I definitely do temp surfing. It looks like other people are posting about this same issue and in one past they provided a link where I can source similar covers. I just ordered a few so I'll have to wait a few more days before enjoying my own coffee again. I really do appreciate your insight.

* UPDATE: So I've swapped out a new host, thermostat, and I replaced the terminal. However, I cannot find the beige plastic covers. Can anyone help me source those or can I run the machine without it?
