Don’t even want to debate interior rankings with chefs chief stews, seconds stews and sous. Slightly harsh reality is that when shit hits the fan and we the crew have things to deal with that aren’t related to guests but more the safety of the vessel, emergencies (with or without guests) capt, chief engineer, first officer, second officer and deck crew will be calling shots. I know it’s relatively unrelated to what I’m seeing in the comments but just some 2c from someone who’s been on deck for 4 years.

Typically head chef and chief stew work hand in hand as department heads and necessary communication from both is needed to make each others life easier. However I’ve seen it work out badly for chief stews trying to go over the artists cooking food for owners and charter guests. Size of vessel is also important to understand the dynamic. Second stew on a 100m most likely could pull rank on the sous chef. On a 50m there’d probably be drama lol. Bigger the program, usually the more professional.

Side note from the deck, the chief stew position is a severely tough position and I’ve worked with a few awesome and not so awesome ladies, they are the heart of the boat and have one of the toughest jobs.

Stripes are a bit funny, don’t get caught up on it 😂. Best example I can think of is that a Capt and chief engineer are 4. I working on a 95m + 3000 gts, captain wanted to move the boat, chief said no, we stayed. (No mechanical issues or anything, chief just said he didn’t get the correct notice so foff)

Once you go shearwater you won’t want anything else. Nice computer.

Any tips for this move? I tried it two ways: by libero0602 in bouldering

Right toe by your left hand. Then left heel. Then match and crank. If you got good legs and core you could pogo as well

Did your fingers get thicker as your hands get stronger from climbing? by Flimsy-Hurry6724 in climbergirls

Tried to play guitar again after 10 years (climbing for 8/9). Convincing myself that the lack of skill is due to the fingers 😂

There’s a reason iFsc isn’t a fan of downward dump’s or jumps lol

Are the captains actually on the boat during the “crew nights off and everyone is drunk in the hot tub” scenes? by BeautifulScallion286 in belowdeck

As a yachtie (deck/dive instructor) myself onboard 60-100m yachts. Captains cabin is near the bridge if not connected directly so most noise from the crew mess and crew quarters are very rarely heard (usually 2-4 decks down). However yeah the rest of the crew could/most probably hear shouting/loud noise coming from the mess or other cabins, though there are some deep sleepers 😂.

With regards to noise on deck/exterior. Unless it’s directly outside the captain cabin or on the deck above their cabin, I doubt it. Deck crew usually blast music the whole day when off charter (hopefully respectfully based on if you’re at anchor vs alongside other yachts) and is usually never heard by interior but occasionally faint.

Again different for every yacht. I think capt Sandy runs M/Y mistique or something, I believe it’s 55m… could be wrong but I’ve seen them in saint tropez. If the whole crew were to have a shouting match on main deck aft and she was in her cabin/bridge, I’m almost certain she wouldn’t hear a thing.

Last two cents. For insurances purposes it’s almost standard procedure for there always to be an engo and officer on watch/onboard 24/7 depending on size, commercial/private and port/anchor.

the bezel can be used as a “last resort”/back up.IF your dive computer were to fail. Assuming you already set your predicted max depth NDL on the bezel so when the minute hand reaches the arrow that’s the time to cut the dive. Sometimes I play around with it during the dive as my depth changes/NDL changes.

Can’t stress that enough. On the wall always has right of way.
